Storyline

The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's rugby team as they make their historic run to the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship match.

«Invictus» is a 2009 drama. In this drama based on real-life events, director Clint Eastwood tells the story of what happened after the end of apartheid when newly elected president Nelson Mandela used the 1995 World Cup rugby matches to unite his people in South Africa. Based on John Carlin's book, the film stars Morgan Freeman as Mandela and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar, the captain of the scrappy South African team that makes a run for the championship. «Invictus» directed by Clint Eastwood. Mandela, just released from prison, realises he must do something to bind all parts of his nation together. He alone, in the ANC, understands the potential of rugby to unite his country. This is based loosely on real events and is a truly inspirational film. See it if you\'ve missed it so far.

I thought this was a good movie. It is not on my number one favourites list or anything, but it was enjoyable to watch. I cannot comment on how close to the facts it was, as I am not familiar with what happened personally. I was impressed with Matt Daman and his usual great acting. It is great... more
