In fact, as a teen he was such an outstanding player that he played in Europe for Team USA before injuries forced him to give it up.When Irby's soccer career concluded, he decided to pursue a college education. It was there, that a drama professor gave Irby the confidence to pursue a career in theater.He immediately began to hone his craft at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Irby's new environment suited him well and by 1999 he put his training to good use with a guest-starring role in two episodes of Law & Order. He has since appeared in a string of successful films including Pinero (2001), The Last Castle (2001), Klepto (2003), and Flightplan (2005) with Jodie Foster.But the television series that Irby is most known for is The Unit, a thrilling military series costarring Dennis Haysbert,Robert Patrick, Max Martini and Scott Foley. Irby says that the show, has been a joy to work on.
