Russell Crowe gives a visceral performance, and few films open quite so powerfully as this one. The politics is intricate and some of the scenes are truly shocking, not in their horror (there is little that is gratuitous) but in capturing the ruthlessness that characterized some aspects of Rome.... more

Russel Crown plays nice - but it has some lame moments. Nice action but also lots of love and intrigues. a little to long for my view, could be shorter
