Storyline

In this British costume drama, the turbulent transition from Roman republic to autocratic empire, which changed world history through civil war and wars of conquest, is sketched both from the aristocratic viewpoint of Julius Caesar, his family, his adopted successor Octavian Augustus, and their political allies and adversaries, and from the politically naive viewpoint of a few ordinary Romans, notably the soldiers Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo and their families.

Part of World History14 February 2010

This Series is wonderful. I wish all the episodes could be posted because I\'d like to see more and don\'t believe this is all of them. I love the costuming and the epic nature which reminds me of some of the old great films set in that part of the world. Love it all.

History lesson27 December 2009

Not only is very interesting but is very acurate on history facts and more importante on social issues, it realy let us see how the romans were as individuals:how they lived, what were their values, passions, tastes for food, cloth, art, lovers etc...

Rome series25 October 2009

As a history teacher it is often difficult to sit through poorly made and very inaccurate recreations in both movies and t.v. series. However Rome goes to great lengths to capture the culture and views of that time period.

Very well made, with season one being much better than season 2.

I have watched both of the first two episodes and I am very impressed, and look forward to seeing all 12. So far this is the best mini series that I have seen in years. If the next ten episodes are as good as these two, then I will rate this series right up there with Roots, Centennial, and... more
