Open with Mike refusing to do...
more
Open with Mike refusing to do something for Jessica related to Harvey's clients.
SIX NIGHTS EARLIER
Edward is throwing some kind of big party for the firm. Mike hands Harvey three envelopes.
Louis bickers at the bar with an English man named Nigel.
Harvey hands Edward three separate lawsuits from one of his clients to one of theirs. They then make a wager about who will win. If Harvey wins there will be no merger.
After the party Jessica and Harvey argue about the merger. She makes him promise that if loses he'll embrace the merger with open arms. And she agrees that if he beats Edward it won't happen.
Harvey is upset with Scottie for what he believes was her stabbing him in the back.
Rachel tells Mike about Harvard. She asks him how it felt when he got in and he pauses.
Louis spots Nigel kissing Donna's hand and goes ballistic. Nigel tells him he was just getting a tour.
Donna tells Louis that Nigel is doing an efficiency evaluation for Edward's firm, something he has been asked to do for their firm. Donna challenges him to beat Nigel.
Edward drops by Harvey's office and tells him he's about to freeze the assets of one of the clients filing suit. He's doing this in order to allow Harvey a chance to move the client's money in order to fund his defense. He doesn't think it would be "sporting" not to give Harvey a fair chance.
Louis and Nigel have another verbal sparring match in the bathroom.
Rachel has drafted a letter on Mike's head to Harvard as a way to go over Sheila's head. She thinks it's not right that she's being denied admission because of what happened between Sheila and Louis. Mike says he can't sign the letter because it would be hearsay, but eventually agrees to help her.
Mike then drops by Louis' office and tells him about the letter. Louis tells Mike the truth. Mike thinks Louis needs to be honest with Rachel about why she didn't get in.
Edward tells Harvey he'll be leaving town the following day and will be having his No. 2 handle things. It turns out Edward freezing the assets was nothing more than a bait which has opened Harvey's clients up for counter-litigation.
Jessica tells Edward she knows he's taking meetings with other firms. She wonders if he's afraid of losing to Harvey. We learn that Jessica very much wants Edward to beat Harvey, because if he doesn't Harvey will lose respect for her and eventually leave the firm.
Louis tells Harvey he supports him 100 percent. He's concerned that if the merger happens he'll be less valuable because of someone like Nigel. Harvey tells him he needs to buy some time and Louis says he can help.
Harvey drops by Mike's apartment with the strategy he should use against Scottie. It's confidential info from the merger that he wants to use for a reprieve. It's ambiguous legal ground and inadmissible and Harvey admits he's not sure about doing it.
The next day Harvey finds Scottie sitting in his office. Mike, meanwhile, is surprised to find Jessica in the office where he's supposed to meet with Scottie. Simultaneously both women tell both men that it might be time to give up. Mike shows Jessica the file and Harvey tells Scottie that he's made a deal with Jessica that she's gone if he wins. Jessica then comes into Harvey's office and kicks out Scottie. She's upset that he cheated and he's upset she's helping Edwards beat him. They argue over whether the firm even needs Edward's firm at this point. He threatens that he could leave and she says she's going to prove she can control him.
Scottie asks Donna if she's in love with Harvey. She says no and wonders about Scottie's agenda. Scottie admits she's in love with Harvey, but doesn't know how to get him to believe it. Donna says the only way he'll hear it is if she walks away from the merger.
Scottie meets with Mike and gives him a file that would win Harvey's case. He asks why she's giving it to him instead of Harvey. Scottie tells him a story that makes it sound like the only way Harvey will use it is if he doesn't know where it came from.
Mike shows Harvey the file and tells him it's from Scottie. He doesn't want to use it.
Louis and Nigel run into each other at the theater. They appear to strike up a friendship and agree to leave one another's name of the other's list in order to save both of their positions.
Donna tells Harvey about Scottie being in love with him. She's convinced the file is her way of reaching out. Harvey tells he to give Mike the file and Donna said it was already done.
Mike stops by Jessica's office and tells her about the file. She tells him to go home and throw the file away. Jessica threatens him with a letter to the DA about him practicing law without a license. Mike is speechless.
Harvey yells at Mike for not listening to him. Jessica comes in and tells Mike to leave. Harvey tries to fire Mike but she says no. She and Harvey "have it out" with her ultimately telling him he's going to stick around and learn his place.
Scottie tells Harvey somebody told Edward about the file she gave to Mike and she's been fired. He assures her it wasn't him.
Donna tells Louis that Nigel didn't put him on his list. But Louis went back on his word and included Nigel on his. He then tells her he needs to try and be a good friend to Rachel.
Harvey welcomes Edward to the firm with open arms. He then reminds Edward that the merger would never have happened without Scottie and he should give her her job back. He asks Harvey if she should work in New York or London.
After Louis tells Rachel the truth about Harvard she comes to Mike about why he wasn't honest with her in the first place. He is furious that he's lost too many things and isn't read to lose her. She demands he tell her what is going on and he admits he's never been to Harvard. She slaps him several times and tries to leave. He grabs her and they start going at it hot and heavy.

Open with Harvey and Mike watching...
more
Open with Harvey and Mike watching Hanley Folsom on tape. Harvey wants to catch him in a lie but Mike tells him he was denied authorization to hire an investigator.
Jessica tells Harvey the firm is essentially out of money.
Harvey tells Mike the plan is to focus on just one of the seven cases they currently have to work. They agree the case should be Bakersfield, which is run by Folsom's brother-in-law and has the worst stats in terms of gender discrimination.
Harvey arrives at the conference room to find Scottie waiting for him. She's is looking to take ten of their cases.
Harvey suggests that instead of fighting against him with limited resources the only way to beat Daniel might be to partner with Scottie's rich, London-based firm. Jessica reluctantly agrees.
Katrina has been assigned to Bakersfield by Jessica and Mike doesn't like it. Mike tells Harvey, who is unhappy to be working alongside Scottie.
Harvey talks to Scottie, whose goal the whole time was getting him to partner with his firm. She wants to start with Bakersfield, but Harvey suggests Parkville. It's the toughest case to win, but the benefit is that Daniel will never be expecting them to target it. Harvey thinks when they win that case the rest of them will follow. The plan is to pretend they're working all 45 cities in order to confuse Daniel.
Jessica asks Mike and Katrina to find something on Hanley Folsom. Mike learns that Katrina wasn't actually assigned by Jessica, but in fact asked to be on the case. This leads to an argument about the circumstances under which Katrina was hired.
On her firm's private jet Scottie makes a move on Harvey. Harvey weakly tries to fight in on professional grounds but eventually goes along with it.
Rachel gets rejected by Harvard. Donna learns the news but she keeps it from Mike. Despite being near tears she gets it together enough to recommend to Mike they need to go after Hanley's personal correspondence.
Harvey and Scottie arrive in Parkville for the deposition and are greeted by Daniel. He knew they'd be there by checking the flight plan for Scottie's jet. Harvey gets a call from Mike who knows why Parkville manager Kathleen Mitchell, the woman they are deposing, was promoted.
Harvey brings up the fact Mitchell had a hysterectomy nine months before her promotion, suggesting the fact she couldn't have children is the only reason Hanley hired her. Mitchell shoots back that she never told anybody, but Harvey is convinced that Hanley found out.
After the deposition Scottie is furious with Harvey for not telling her what he found out about Mitchell. Scottie says her last loss to Harvey is the reason she hasn't become a name partner. If she wins this case she'll get her name on the door.
Rachel is having trouble focusing and it is hurting Mike in the eyes of Jessica.
In an incredibly condescending way Katrina asks Rachel to stop what she's doing for Mike and do something for her.
Rachel practically bursts into tears telling Louis she didn't get into Harvard. Considering her resume Louis realizes the person responsible is Sheila. He says "I believe you were wronged and I will not have it."
When Harvey and Scottie return they find Jessica and Scottie's boss, Darby, waiting for them. Darby has shown up with a file on clients Daniel has wronged.
Rachel has found Mike the Hanley access he's been looking for, and also mentions the interactions with Katrina.
Katrina brings Harvey the subpoena Rachel found an hour before Mike does. Harvey isn't happy.
Mike yells at Katrina for pursuing his idea and then taking credit for it with Harvey.
Louis pays Sheila a visit and charges her with behaving unprofessionally. Sheila finds this noble, which leads to them having sex.
Rachel tells Mike that Katrina has already found the smoking gun they need. The person she has making the copies is notorious for making slow copies and Mike's plan is to steal the information before it gets to Jessica.
After sex, Sheila tells Louis that Rachel simply wasn't good enough. She actually liked Rachel, but her pool of candidates was simply too strong.
Mike brings Jessica and Harvey the smoking gun, the key to winning Parkville.
Daniel and Hanley arrive for their deposition and find Mitchell sitting in the conference room. Harvey and Jessica tell them they've found an email proving Hanley knew Mitchell couldn't have children and changed his review of her because of the fact. Daniel doesn't think it proves a pattern and leaves with his client.
Katrina waits for Mike and Rachel in Rachel's office. Katrina suggests the two of them are sleeping together.
Jessica tells Darby she's considering his offer and we see her show him the firm's books for the last five years. Harvey sees this through a door.
Harvey confronts Scottie about her firm merging with his and she tells him she wants both of their names on the same door. Darby wouldn't let her tell him about it. Harvey leaves her with "this merger isn't happening."
Jessica and Darby meet with Daniel. She tells him because of their plans of merger Jessica had to show Darby their books, meaning Darby knows about his embezzlement. This means Daniel could lose his client and possibly end up in jail. Jessica recommends he settle on the way out.
Louis lies to Rachel and tells her that his relationship is to blame for her not getting into Harvard. He offers to write her a recommendation for any other school, but she won't be going to Harvard.

Open with Daniel deposing Sloane...
more
Open with Daniel deposing Sloane Mosley, the key witness in the Fulsome Foods case. After a few questions Daniel reveals that he's really there to serve Harvey and Mike as part of a $10 million wrongful termination suit on behalf of Monica.
Daniel points out to Jessica and Harvey that because of confidentiality agreements they won't be able to testify about knowing of Monica's relationship with him. On his way out of the building Daniel needles Harvey about his name not being on the door. He says the reason Jessica won't make him a name partner is that she doesn't trust him.
Harvey is upset with Jessica for signing the agreement and thinks they should settle. Harvey also brings up the fact she never told him about it. She isn't interested in settling.
Rachel shows Mike she's working on her application to Harvard. She doesn't want to apply anywhere else because she wants to work at Pearson Hardman.
Louis asks Donna to try and convince Harvey to let him work on the Monica case. She doesn't want to do it.
Harvey tells Mike to focus on Fulsome Foods and let him handle Daniel.
Jessica drops by Robert Zane's place and tells him to get rid of Daniel. He asks for the full story as to why and she tells him about the confidentiality agreement she's signed. It will cost her $15 million to break the agreement and Robert seems impressed with Daniel's work.
Harvey pays the judge who will be hearing their case a visit and presents an option for waiving the confidentiality agreement. The judge says it won't work and tells Harvey Daniel met with him two weeks earlier.
Daniel arrives to depose Jessica. Donna escorts him to the conference room and slaps him across the face a few times as retaliation for what she did to her with the planted memo. During the deposition Daniel attempts to bait her into breaking the confidentiality agreement. He tries to make the point Monica was fired because she was younger, prettier and of a child bearing age. Jessica walks out in disgust.
Harvey against tries to argue to Jessica that they should settle. She doesn't want to do it, despite the fact he thinks she'll end up looking like a fool.
Mike asks Rachel for a transcript of Jessica's deposition. He blames himself for what is happening and is worried if he doesn't fix it there won't be any more Pearson Hardman.
Mike meets with Monica and apologizes for what he did. She says she's happy that Jessica is paying the price for what happened.
Mike comes to Jessica with an idea they should get Monica to admit to the affair, which would take gender off the table and help them with Fulsome Foods. She likes his idea and tells him to take the lead in deposing Monica. But during the deposition Monica says she was terminated because she was being harassed by Louis. Louis asked her out repeatedly and stared at her at work. On top of that Monica gets on the record the fact that Jessica had her hand in her letter of resignation to Louis.
In the bathroom Harvey asks Daniel what it would take to settle. He tells Harvey that Monica wants to see a jury find Jessica guilty. Daniel points out that ultimately the firm can't afford to try all 45 cases and he is going to "bleed you dry."
Louis tells Harvey he wants to help. He thinks if he can talk to Monica outside the confines of the case he can convince her to drop the suit. Harvey shows him a copy of what Monica said in the deposition.
Rachel tells Mike her father is the reason she wants to be a lawyer. She wants to be considered "amazing" just like he is. He tells her what he did to get hired by Harvey.
Harvey tells Jessica she's "out of control," sayings she made a mistake having Mike take lead in Monica's deposition. Jessica says Mike's idea was a good one, but the questions were being asked of the wrong person.
During Daniel's deposition they get him to admit on the record he had an affair with Monica. Off the record he tells Mike that Jessica was behind everything that happened with the affair being exposed. Daniel then reminds them they were the ones who fired Monica 24 hours after finding out, which is all the jury will care about.
Louis corners Daniel in the elevator. He tells Daniel about the nature of his feelings for Monica and promises that if he ever does anything to him again he is going to "rip your smug face off your fat neck."
Mike tells Monica she was right about Jessica all along. He adds that she was fired because Jessica didn't trust her, not because she was a woman. He then tells her about the women in the Fulsome cases and what her suit will do to them. He asks her to read the files and decide if the women deserve to be treated fairly.
Mike is able to Monica to agree to a very inexpensive settlement. Jessica tells Harvey she's bugged by the fact Daniel was able to trick her with the agreement. He thinks if they settle it will be a victory.
Rachel tells Mike her essay is about the fact her time as a paralegal will help her tremendously in her legal career. They both realize she's going to get into Harvard and talk about her being gone.
Donna tells Harvey about hitting Daniel. Jessica tells Harvey to take Daniel's name off the wall.
Jessica asks Robert about merging their firms. He thinks there is no need now because "Pearson Whatever" will soon be in shambles. They will be simultaneously trying seven different cases in seven different jurisdictions. It was Daniel's idea.

Louis tries to enter the courtroom and finds that his expensive nail scissors were hidden in jacket pocket. He is placed under arrest by an officer who is friendly with Katrina.
Rachel talks to Robert. He says he's watching her "fail" and it's tearing him up inside. She tells him about her LSAT scores.
Katrina finds Louis in a holding cell. He tells her his problem with her isn't that she's a "pretty face," but rather that she took a job from somebody more deserving. They call a truce.
Robert tells Jessica he wants to decertify the class action suit. He wants to merge firms.
Harvey tells Jessica they can only take these types of attacks for so long.
Jessica shows Robert she's willing to prosecute every single one of the individual cases, even if it means crippling her firm. She thinks by the end of the process she'll be the winner.
Robert tells Rachel he's dropping the case. They seem to be getting along well. After he leaves Mike pops into Rachel's office with a framed copy of her LSAT score.
Robert tells Jessica his firm is passing the case along to Daniel Hartman.

Louis interviews potential associate candidates. He loves the first woman he interviews, a no-nonsense super-lawyer named Maria.
Mike tells Harvey he's found out Albert was wearing dark clothes and a hood that night because he was tagging graffiti. This is great news for Liam and Harvey wants Mike to meet with Katrina.

Harvey tells Mike he's not interested in interviewing Katrina but will take the deal. At this point she can't rescind it without new evidence. Harvey tells Jessica he thinks Maria will expose Mike if Louis hires her.
Jessica brings Louis into her office and tells him she's instituted a hiring freeze. Louis thinks this is punishment and he'll look like a fool. She doesn't care and tells him to make it go away.
Mike talks to Katrina prior to the courtroom plea hearing. He tells her Liam was high when he hit Albert and she thanks him. But she goes ahead with the deal as planned and the judge rules the case closed. Mike confronts her in the hallway afterwards, shocked that she did nothing with the information. Katrina says she knew that he was trying to break privilege and wanted no part of it.
Donna tells Harvey that Katrina called them and the deal is done. He tells her to "get the paperwork started." She asks him if this is really the person he wants to be his second hire. While staring out the window Harvey tells her to go ahead.
Louis tells Sheila about not hiring Maria. She says she's disappointed that he's not the man she thought he was and kicks him out. Louis blames it on the freeze. She tells him she knows for a fact that Harvey just hired somebody that day.
Mike challenges Harvey for hiring Katrina. Harvey tells him he did it for him, given what would have happened if his background had been looked into. Harvey promises him he'll think twice the next time he needs to cross a line to save his butt. Mike and Rachel exchange a long look as he leaves the firm.
Mike meets with Liam with the final settlement. Mike is pissed and demands Liam clean up his act.

Asterisk
Open with Harvey meeting Donna on the...
more
Open with Harvey meeting Donna on the street. They go back and forth before she eventually agrees to come back to work, on two conditions: A bigger bonus check and something we don't hear. Louis hands out bonus checks to the associates. He does not have one for Mike. Harvey does have a check for Mike. With the partner vote coming up in four days it looks like the numbers are even, with a tie going to Jessica. Daniel has Louis into his office. He says he is allowed to name one senior partner per year and he has picked Louis. Louis is overcome with joy. Daniel tells him the move is official but wants him to wait on telling anybody until after the vote. A fired-up Louis arrives for work the next day. Donna is also in the office. Her "one more thing" was to fire Harvey's temp assistant. Harvey is defending a TV sports talking head named Zielinski who is being sued for saying on the air he thinks a baseball player named Solis is using PEDs. Harvey points out that Zielinski is stating his opinion. This seems to work until the prosecution shows off-air footage of Zielinski saying he wants to get Solis out of the league. The case is headed for trial. Afterwards Solis' attorney tells Harvey that they've sent Zielinski evidence that his client is clean, but he won't mention it on-air. Solis wants an on-air apology and retraction. Louis apologizes for how he treated Donna in the mock trial and gives her theater tickets. When Donna notices him wearing a new suit she realizes what's happened. Donna tells Jessica about Louis being made senior partner. Mike's grandmother Edith shows up at the office and Mike is clearly embarrassed. Jessica confronts Daniel about making Louis senior partner. He thinks she should have promoted him years earlier. This leads to an argument about how she got the firm. She offers him an opportunity to take a few lawyers and leave the firm. He says the only reason he even came back is because Harvey approached his teenage daughter about his infidelity. Jessica tells Harvey he needs to counteract Daniel's promotion of Louis. Since Louis idolizes him so much she wants Harvey to be nice to him. Mike is looking for a place in Manhattan for Edith to live. Rachel decides to help. Louis tells his parents about he promotion. Harvey comes into his office, gives him the address of his tailor and invites him to dinner. During dinner Harvey tells Louis about Daniel trying to make him the patsy when he embezzled money from the firm. Louis points out Harvey is using him the same way Daniel is. Louis storms out of the restaurant. Rachel and Mike find the perfect apartment for Edith. There is definitely some sexual tension between the two. Harvey tells Mike about getting shot down by Louis. Zielinski tells Harvey there is no way he'll retract his charge against Solis. He wants Solis to have an asterisk by his name, a la Roger Maris. He says he has a rock-solid source that Solis is juicing, but won't reveal who it is. After the meeting Harvey tells Mike he thinks Zielinski is probably right, and they need to figure out how Solis passed the drugs tests. Mike is given that task. Harvey comes to Louis with an asterisk argument. He thinks Louis shouldn't want to be named senior partner under these circumstances. Once again Louis rebuffs him, pointing out that Jessica didn't have the courtesy to court him herself. Mike tells Rachel he cancelled a dinner engagement with Edith because of his work commitments. She shows him her LSAT scores have come in the mail but she's too nervous to open the envelope. She's gotten a great score. Mike has figured out Zielinski's source is an old teammate of Solis' who provided him with clean urine. Harvey thinks they can make use of this information without going public. Jessica isn't surprised Harvey couldn't close Louis. She sent him first because Louis wouldn't believe her if he didn't have to work to get her there. Harvey thinks Louis' anger is "deep" and words won't be enough. Harvey offers up his office, a sign he's putting the firm's needs above his own. Mike confronts Solis outside the stadium. He says if Solis doesn't drop his suit and retire, they'll go public with him being a cheater. If he does, Zielinski will never mention him on-air again. Louis tells Jessica he wants to be valued, nothing more. He closes the door and says he's tired of being strung along. Jessica explicitly tells him that Daniel is buying him. Louis says it's time she put Harvey in his shadow and essentially threatens to go with Daniel. Jessica tells him that she was prepared to give him Harvey's office, but since he's threatened her has changed her mind. She promises him she'll win the vote and if he's on the wrong side there will be "no coming back." Louis confronts Daniel about him making him a patsy. Daniel said the reason he used him was his financial expertise and it wasn't personal. Louis says he could've been sent to prison and Daniel says he didn't care back then. Daniel says he's a different man and if Louis doesn't believe he can be managing partner he shouldn't vote for him. He also says making him partner was not contingent upon a vote for him. Harvey tells Zielinski about Solis retiring on the condition he never mention him again. Zielinski hates the idea. Mike walks in Zielinski's source, who is furious because he think he was given up. Harvey says the only way he can protect his source (and therefore his career) is to take the deal. Louis stops in to see Jessica and Harvey. He gives them his senior partner buy-in check but tells them they'll have to wait 24 hours to see which way he'll vote. Mike is putting the finishing touches on Edith's new apartment. There is a knock at the door but it is Rachel, not Edith. She tells him that Edith has passed away.

Open with Harvey tells Mike he's not...
more
Open with Harvey tells Mike he's not coming in that day and they need to do something to tip the scales in favor of Jessica for the upcoming partner vote. FIVE YEARS AGO Harvey has yet to make partner and Mike is a pot-smoking bike messenger living with a roommate named Trevor. Jessica asks Harvey for discreet help figuring out who is stealing from their clients' escrow accounts. He says if he helps her he wants something in return -- a "seat at the table." Harvey tells Donna about his secret mission for Jessica. He asks about five specific escrow accounts and she said Zoe handles them. PRESENT DAY Mike asks Rachel with help getting in touch with somebody named Monica Eaton who is no longer with the firm. FIVE YEARS AGO Louis is trying to get close with Monica but striking out. He's just been made junior partner and thinks it's strange a lowly associate like Harvey had a one-on-one with Jessica. Daniel clearly doesn't think much of Louis. Harvey has Zoe type in her password and give him a few minutes alone with her files. We see Mike and Trevor meeting women at a bar. Trevor tells them about Mike's intellect and he impresses them with his recall of books. Mike balks at reciting a book his mother gave him, pretending he's never read it. Harvey tells Jessica after following the money he believes Louis is doing the stealing. He's been dropping a lot of cash recently. Jessica meets with Louis, who has no idea what she's talking about. An angry Jessica goes to Harvey and tells him he screwed up giving her Louis' name. Harvey tells Donna he's going to use Louis to help him find the right person. Mike and Trevor spot Harvey on the street and make fun of him for looking so uptight. Harvey meets with Louis, who is spending his usual lunch break staring at Monica. Harvey shows him the files without the names. Louis realizes that a person (him) is being set up to take the fall by the embezzler. PRESENT DAY Mike sits with Monica, telling her that five year early she "got screwed." He's drawn up a lawsuit in her name, seeking $10 million from Pearson Hardman. She's been working retail the past five years, but doesn't seem interested. He tells her to look it over and call him if she changes her mind. FIVE YEARS AGO Harvey tells Jessica the person doing the stealing is Daniel. He's been moving money around trying to make it look like it was Louis. She looks at his proof and realizes Harvey is right. Harvey thinks she should go to the DA, but she says she's taking it to Daniel. PRESENT DAY Having arrived at his destination, Harvey picks up a few bottles of liquor. FIVE YEARS AGO Since Trevor called the girls he likes, Mike goes out with the other girl (Nikki) they met that night. While waiting for Nikki to get ready he continues to hit it off with the blonde. He clearly likes her better. Jessica confronts Daniel about his stealing. He says it was for his wife, who he says is dying of Stage Four breast cancer. The money (he stole half a million) was for treatments not covered by insurance. During the date Nikki tells Mike she'll pay him $1,000 to take the LSATs for him. He's pissed and walks out. He goes to see Edith who is recovering from a fall. This is when Mike realizes that Edith might need full-time care. Harvey thinks Jessica is being too lenient with Daniel. She's sympathetic to his situation and loyal because he hired her. Jessica thinks Harvey's a bad guy for not seeming to care about Daniel's wife. Mike tells Nikki his price is $5,000. He won't tell her why he changed his mind. Donna and Rachel hit it off. Donna's eyes light up when Rachel tells her that Monica is at her weekly Pilates class. Donna rushes to Harvey. Harvey goes to a hotel room, busting Daniel for having an affair with Monica. Harvey brings him a letter of resignation and tells him that after signing it he is going to name Jessica his successor. When Daniel balks, Harvey says he's already called his wife and invited her to a fundraiser at the hotel. If Daniel doesn't sign, she'll be sent to the room. PRESENT DAY Louis tells Daniel that he knows Mike met with Monica. He thinks that means Jessica is making a move. Since Jessica hasn't been as good to Louis, he's giving Daniel the inside scoop. FIVE YEAR AGO Right before the LSAT Nikki notices that Mike is high. She's worried, but he tells her it's no big deal. PRESENT DAY Harvey is let into a place that is "closed for maintenance." FIVE YEARS AGO Harvey returns from forcing Daniel's resignation. Donna tells him his father has died of a heart attack. Jessica wants to fire Monica, who points out that if she does she'll sue the firm for wrongful termination. But Jessica says if she stays she'll end up being implicated in Daniel's crimes. PRESENT DAY Daniel is furious that Jessica would "fight dirty" using Monica. She's clueless and we see her confront Mike and tells him to "drop it, immediately." Rachel's upset with Mike for lying to her about Monica. FIVE YEARS AGO Mike tells Trevor about his money-making venture. Trevor is planning to move out. Jessica tells Harvey he's been named partner and is getting her office after she takes Daniel's. Donna and Harvey celebrate. Zoe tells Harvey she's leaving the firm, in part because she thinks that he's lost his way. PRESENT DAY Harvey is in a cemetery. He pours two shotglasses of McLaren's Scotch, drinks one and leaves the glass and bottle on top of the tombstone. We see that the tombstone is his father's. Harvey and Jessica have a conversation and we see that she was in on the Mike-Monica plan the entire team. He also tells her he's going to get Donna back.

Open with Louis trying to get close...
more
Open with Louis trying to get close to Daniel. When Daniel asks him to send him Mike, Louis lies and says he's been helping him for weeks on his Liquid Water litigation. Louis references and old bet with Harvey and uses it to ask for exclusive use of Mike. Harvey turns him down. Harvey gets a letter tells him there is new evidence in a case he won four years ago. Harvey defended a car company called CM against a complaint its hood was defective. He attacked the deceased victim and won the case. When Mike makes fun of Harvey's music Harvey takes him down the hallway and gives him to Louis for one case. Harvey meets with old adversary Tanner who is representing the victim. He shows him an internal memo from Coastal Motors that seems to indicate they knew of the defect that caused the accident. He is suing CM for $46 million, as well as Harvey and the firm for fraud. Harvey and Jessica discuss the memo. She doesn't want Daniel to know about it and Harvey thinks his connections at CM mean he'll find out soon. Louis has Mike working on a case defending a company called Liquid Water, which is being sued by competitor Durham Foods for claims in a slogan. Louis will be arguing the ads are promotional statement no reasonable person would believe to be true. Louis is being very militant with Mike. Harvey asks Donna if she knew about the memo. She assures him the document never got to their office, but he wants her to search the files (quietly) and make sure it's not in there somewhere. Mike wants Harvey to get him out of working for Louis. Harvey says he can't do it and thinks it's too risky for him to work for them both simultaneously. An associate named Harold has a thing for Rachel. Harvey meets with CM CEO (Lawrence) who fires him, at least in part after a meeting with Tanner where he explained their history. CM thinks they need to cut ties with Harvey. Afterwards Harvey calls Mike and says he needs him to go through their files and find out "what's not in there." Harvey calls Jessica telling her that the upside of the firm being fired is that whatever they find now will not be covered by attorney-client privilege. Mike and Rachel pretend to be fooling around so that Harold doesn't realize they're looking for files. Louis hands the attorney for Durham Foods a dozen motions and says they want to take the case to trial. After the meeting Louis tells Mike the plan is to bury them in paperwork and the case could drag for months. Daniel tells Harvey he'd like to work with him on his case as a kind of peace offering. Harvey says he'll try and find some time down the road. Mike comes in and tells Harvey two years ago a quality control manager named Sarah suspiciously did not write a report on the car model in question. Additionally, when the model was unveiled she disappeared from CM without any evidence of being fired or claims of unemployment. Mike thinks Sarah must have wrote the memo and found her address. Harvey meets with Sarah. He doesn't admit to no longer working for CM, and asks who else she showed the memo to. She says she didn't write it. Sarah says she took her concerns about the hoods to Lawrence, who promised to fix the hood if she kept quiet. She's been racked with guilt over the man dying and tells Harvey to leave. Outside of Sarah's place Harvey runs into Tanner, who has been waiting for him to find Sarah. Since Harvey now knows Lawrence knew about the defective hood and lied about it on the stand he has two choices: Keep the information quiet and be guilty of fraud or go public and risk a major hit to his reputation. Jessica tells Harvey they should go to Daniel. He says he's going to fix it so they don't have to do that. Louis skillfully gets a VP of marketing for Durham Foods to admit they're only suing because their product is terrible and they're losing market share. Afterwards Mike seems fired-up that they appear poised to win. The two seem to be enjoying the partnership. Harvey waits for Lawrence in his company's underground parking lot. He says he knows about Sarah and tells him that if he doesn't make it right with the defendants he's going to come forward with what he knows. Daniel tells Mike and Louis that Durham Foods are declaring bankruptcy. It seems like a loss, but Mike suggests they have their client buy them out and get the other products at a discount. Mike tells Louis the personal problems they've had in the past have been all on Louis' end. He basically says he needs to treat people better. Louis asks if anything is up with Harvey but Mike doesn't talk. Louis is waiting for Harvey and Mike in Harvey's office. Louis offers to help but Harvey blows him off. Lawrence calls with word that he's going to settle. When Mike says Donna is still looking through the files Harvey has an idea. As Harvey leaves we see that a tape recorder has been hidden in the office. Harvey meets with Tanner and accuses him of writing the memo himself. Tanner denies it and says he's still going to get Harvey for some of past shady lawyering. We see Louis listening to Harvey and Mike's taped conversation. Daniel stops by to congratulate him on the buy-out idea and notices something seems to be up. Daniel asks if there is anything on his mind. Harvey tells Jessica about CM settling. Since Tanner's still coming after the firm for fraud, they will have to tell Daniel in the morning. At this point a furious Daniel bursts into the room angry with them for endangering the firm by not telling him about the impending lawsuit. But he then tells them he not going to use this as a power play, instead offering to help them fight it as a team. Jessica agrees. After Daniel leaves she tells Harvey they have no choice at this point. Having heard the taped conversation Louis is now giving Mike the cold shoulder. Harvey confidently tells Mike that he's going to wreck Tanner. Donna finds the memo with her stamp on it in the files. She is stunned.

Meet the New Boss
Open with Mike home to find his...
more
Open with Mike home to find his grandmother waiting for him. He is so absorbed in his work that he completely forgot they were supposed to have dinner that night. He is worried he is becoming his father in that regard. Firm co-founder Daniel Hardman is back at work and it is clear things are still icy with Jessica. She references a case between Prescott Hospital and their nurses union. The case has recently been assigned to Harvey, but Daniel wants to be involved. After the meeting Jessica tells Harvey she wants him to stick it to Daniel, to "put him in his place." Mike tells Harvey he doesn't want to interact with Rachel because he just broke it off with her before things could get going. Jessica tells Donna she's not doing well, but doesn't have time to worry about it. Harvey pays Daniel a visit. He gives him a lame pro bono case and tells him in no uncertain terms that he works for Jessica, not him. On his way out he says "I don't work for you and I don't work with you." Before meeting with the union rep (who is a nurse herself), Harvey tells Mike that he should be prepared to stick it to the nurses. Harvey gives union rep Nell Sawyer an offers. She passes because she's heard about new donations the hospital has received. Mike points out the money was donated specifically for surgical robotics, but she isn't impressed. She says her union is ready to strike. Jessica tells Louis that because a magazine recently ranked the firm poorly in terms of attorney quality of life, Harvard wants to rescind the firm's on-campus recruiting privileges. Rachel admits to Donna that she's looked into dating services. Donna wants to take her to Happy Hour. Mike wants them to seek a temporary restraining order (TRO), while Harvey wants to go with an injunction. It is less likely the injunction will be granted, but it is a more permanent option. Louis meets with the associates and tells them he's invited a rep from Harvard to the firm. He wants them to convince the rep they love it there. Without Harvey's knowledge, Daniel moves their hearing and had a judge grants them a TRO. Afterwards Daniel tells him if he wants to work with him "this is how it's going to be." Harvey meets with Nell. He rips up the TRO and challenges her to begin their strike. For every day they strike, the offer will get worse. Louis introduces everybody to Sheila from Harvard. She seems to have a similar philosophy to Louis. Harvey is upset because he thinks Daniel backed them into the corner with the TRO. "Stop thinking like a rookie." At the bar Donna and Jessica pretend to be female versions of Mike and Harvey. Daniel calls Mike into his office. He says that for bargaining reasons, at this point he and Harvey can't go back to Nell. But there is no such restriction on Mike. He wants him to be their backchannel negotiator. Meets with Nell, introducing her to his grandmother as a sign of how important this case is to him. Nell goes through his grandmother's pills and tells Mike that nurses are constantly staying beyond their shift to help patients due to staffing problems. IF their names show up on the chart, she says, the nurse stayed when they weren't getting paid for it. Sheila tells Louis his associates don't respect him because they think they do his work for him. Mike tells Harvey about the chart stuff Nell told him. He's learned that all it would take to end the strike is ten percent of the new equipment fund. Harvey is upset with Daniel for lying to him and sending Mike to talk to Nell. Mike thinks they should have never budged and holds Daniel responsible. Mike meets with Daniel, who reminisces about his wife who died of cancer. Louis finds Harvey in the bullpen and they talk about the old time when they were associates. Louis wants to prove to the associates that he works as hard as they do. Harvey pays Louis several compliments. Mike spots Rachel's dating network profile on her computer. He goes over the positive qualities she should include and she is clearly touched. The next morning Louis tells the associates he's done all of their work for them and reminds them what a nice situation they have at the firm. He's been letting them do more work than they'd get at another firm in order to help them grow as attorneys. At meeting with Nell, Harvey hands her 50 pink slips for nurses who have been working extra time and therefore are released them from federal labor law protection. He gives her the end of the day to agree to their deal. Mike looks stunned at how Harvey has used the information. Nell turns to Mike and says "You're grandmother would be proud." Mike is upset at being used as a pawn in the back-and-forth between Harvey and Daniel. Rachel drops by Mike's place. She demands to know why he wouldn't give their relationship a shot. He says he can't tell her. Daniel apologizes to Jessica for how he behaved in the first meeting. She points out that he was acting aggressively before he came back, pointing to him taking a tea set from her office. He points out that his wife gave her the set and he wanted it because he missed her. Jessica tells Louis she was impressed with his speech to the associates give them the chance to rise to the occasion. Louis says he wishes she would give him that same opportunity. Harvey calls Mike into his office and tells him a story about Daniel. When he and Jessica caught him stealing money from clients, he said he was doing it to save his wife's life. It turns out it was actually because of a mistress. Harvey he said he wanted Mike to know Daniel shouldn't be trusted. Harvey also let Mike know that he trusted him after Mike asked. Rachel takes what appear to be the LSATs. Mike confronts his grandmother about the fact one of her drugs is for a heart problem. They sit and talk about his problems with women.
