Storyline

Embarrassed by his large nose, a romantic poet/soldier romances his cousin by proxy.

Soldier and poet Cyrano de Bergerac is in love with Roxane, but he's too ashamed to admit it because of his big nose. When a cadet, Christian, falls for Roxane, he asks for Cyrano's help in sharing his feelings. Cyrano writes love letters signed with Christian's name, and Roxane doesn't realize that it's Cyrano's words she falls for. She marries Christian, and Cyrano continues to keep the other man's secret, even after tragedy strikes.

«Cyrano de Bergerac» is a 1990 foreign movie. Cyrano de Bergerac (Gerard Depardieu) pines for his cousin Roxanne, but won't reveal his affections for fear that she'll find his ugly features off-putting. So, Cyrano instructs the studly but stupid Christian how to woo her. Roxanne is entranced by Christian's beautiful poetry and letters – all ghosted by Cyrano. But Christian dies in battle before he can tell Roxanne the truth. Depardieu won the Best Actor award at Cannes for his performance. «Cyrano de Bergerac» directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau.
