Bottoms Up
The boys, plus Scott Lavin (Scott...
more
The boys, plus Scott Lavin (Scott Caan), are out partying, and Vince (Adrian Grenier) is doing his usual good job of picking up women. In this case, it's porn star Sasha Grey. Although Drama (Kevin Dillon) did indicate that she was now technically legitimate because she did a Steven Soderbergh movie...where she played a hooker. The boys don't think Vince knows she's a porn star, but he actually does...and takes her home with him. As Sasha is known for anal sex scenes, the boys talk about whether or not they've participated. Eric (Kevin Connolly) naturally shies away from the conversation, and Drama and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) insist he has to do it with Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) before they get married, because asking down the road tips women off that the marriage is in trouble.Speaking of being in trouble, Ari (Jeremy Piven) is with Mrs. Ari (Perrey Reeves) because he's having rather angry sex with her. She's not happy that he's thinking about Lizzie Grant (Autumn Reeser), and not even in that way. Lizzie is being backed by another agency to steal TMA's clients. Aaron Sorkin, Jessica Simpson, and Mike Tyson all come up on the list of people who have been contacted, and Ari orders everybody at the agency to talk to their clients directly and set meetings with him if the client is waffling.Eric makes it to work and is getting the Ving Rhames treatment when Bob Saget demands to know why he withheld a script from him that John Stamos gave him. The same script for the show Drama is trying to be on. This was interspersed with a phone call from Sloan, who happen to come across E's online research the previous night on...and you would think E was the smart one of the group. He puts his problem with Sloan on the back burner and contacts Drama, who is ready to rip Saget a new one. E tried to explain that Stamos likes Drama for the role, but Stamos and Saget have been friends for years. And yes, Drama whips out the Jay Mohr line from "Jerry Maguire." He goes to Saget's house with a baseball bat. Saget explains that Roger wrote the script for a bunch of people, telling each one he wrote it specifically for them. Saget just never opened the letter when he got it six months earlier. Drama is devastated, but Saget's girlfriend offers to get Drama off to make him feel better. Drama goes over to CBS and gets the bad news from the network that they want Saget for the role.Ari meets with Mike Tyson, who wants to revive The Brady Bunch with him in the Robert Reed role. (give Tyson credit for his reaction to the inevitable "If Bobby misbehaves, you can always bite his ear off" jibe from Ari) Ari promises to get him more work and more money for the "Hangover" sequel if Tyson agrees to stay committed to the agency, which he does begrudgingly. He is not as successful with Jessica Simpson, who hadn't heard from the agency in a year. She jumps to Lizzie's agency and refuses to tell Ari what agency it is. Even Ari going over to her house and giving her a new dog to replace the one that died a year ago didn't help. It actually made things worse. However, Ari runs into some good luck. Aaron Sorkin comes in, ready to leave as well since Andrew Klein was no longer around. Ari told Sorkin that it was Lizzie sleeping with Andrew that started the whole mess in the first place, not Andrews drug addiction. Jessica Simpson is convinced to come to the office from one of Ari's agents, and Sorkin thinks he might have a script for her to do, like Mariah Carey had the small role in Precious. They meet for dinner, Ari gets a commitment to stay from both of them, and Lloyd (Rex Lee) has to give Jessica the dog.Vince and Sasha head over to Marvel comics to meet with Stan Lee, who wants to go over the Airwalker movie idea with him and the director, Randall Wallace. Vince introduces him to Sasha, and Stan swears he had seen Sasha in a movie, but not The Girlfriend Experience. Both Vince and Sasha try to step around her body of work when talking to Stan Lee. Back at E's office, Turtle tries to pitch him the idea of Vince promoting the tequila, but Eric isn't having it. Things get worse when he finds out Vince brought Sasha to the Stan Lee meeting and sounded like he was drunk. E contacted Vince, who assured him he only smelled like booze because he tried Turtle's tequila and took a Vicodin for the pain in his back. E sweet-talked Lee and Wallace and pushed for a deal.Back at the house, Vince and Sasha are feeling no pain thanks to the tequila. At Ari's house, he gets home early and rose petals and candles his way back into Mrs. Ari's good graces. It almost works (and that lingerie definitely works on Mrs. Ari). They are interrupted by a call from Amanda Daniels (Carla Gugino). She hired Lizzie Grant and tried to also hire her six months ago. She told Lizzie to keep a journal about everything that went on. And now she had that journal. And Ari is back to being mad. And Mrs. Ari is back to not having sex.E and Sloan try to make the best of their day, but E was upset about the day's events and doesn't want to pressure Sloan into having anal sex. But she insisted on getting it out of the way. The results were, not good. It didn't help Sloan called E a p*ssy and he got a little upset about that. Finally they give up and decide to just have sex every other way. That is, until Vince calls and tells E he will promote the tequila to help Turtle.

Vince (Adrian Grenier) arrives late...
more
Vince (Adrian Grenier) arrives late for the morning coffee sit-down and general bickering between Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Drama (Kevin Dillon), the former of whom has to meet his accountant (i.e. Vince's accountant, Marvin) to have a "state of the business" talk. Vince wants to give Eric (Kevin Connolly) a ride on his new motorcycle, as Vince is having a mid-life crisis 20 years early, but at least he's got good taste in motorcycles. Truthfully, Vince wants to talk with Scott Lavin (Scott Caan), over E's protests.Mrs. Ari (Perrey Reeves) confronts Ari (Jeremy Piven) at home in the middle of his semi-annual "do something as a dad" appearance, taking his son to school. She is still upset that Ari was hugging Lizzie Grant (Autumn Reeser) at the office, but Ari defends himself by saying he just got a chance to be the owner of an NFL team. ("I would have spun Lloyd around if he was in front of me and if I could lift him.") But she thinks, in spite of hating Andrew Klein last year, that Lizzie should have been fired instead of him.Vince arrives at Murray Berenson, where Lavin is overly-enjoyed to see Vince still living on the edge, mainly because it upsets Eric. Lavin agrees to take Vince to the auction he's attending in Murray's place as Drama and E talk to an Emmy-winning writer about a sitcom for Drama to do. Although the man hasn't worked since 1991, he won four Emmys on various shows, and everybody except Drama is convinced he could do comedy. Drama doesn't like the fact that the writer, Roger, has been out of the game for almost twenty years yet still acting completely arrogant, but Lloyd (Rex Lee) and E want him to at least read the pages Roger wrote for him simply by looking at Drama's audition tapes.Marvin's news to Turtle is unsurprisingly bad. Turtle's business has been losing money, although he stopped eating expensive lunches for the last month, so he is bleeding less money these days. Marvin commends him for attempting to run a business, mainly because Turtle's less of a drain on Vince's portfolio. But Turtle needs to figure out something fast.At TMA, Barbara Miller (Beverly D'Angelo) confronts Ari about leaving the agency to run an NFL team, and Ari threatens anybody who talks about it. At which point he proudly announces to everybody he is trying to bring an NFL team to Los Angeles. To make matters worse, Lizzie Grant confronts him about running the TV division, as she has been effectively running it since Andrew left and has brought in new clients to boot. Ari promptly turns her down, with Mrs. Ari's words that morning still ringing in his ears. However, Barbara confronts Ari about giving her the job. Ari says it has nothing to do with her sleeping with Andrew, but the truth comes out. Ari won't budge, and Barbara goes back to tell Lizzie exactly that. Lizzie calls their bluff and quits the agency. At the auction, Vince spot's a dinosaur skull Adrian Peterson (running back from the Vikings) is selling for $275,000. Vince wonders if anybody would pay for that and realizes he might if the lady helping AP sell it is part of the deal. Vince and Scott Lavin see Randall Wallace, the writer of Braveheart, who tells Vince that he knows Stan Lee is looking for someone to star in "Airwalker," a new superhero film. Although Vince has done Aquaman, Randall thinks the role is perfect and wants to set up a meeting with Stan. Vince tells him to arrange it with Scott, since he's having difficulty reaching Ari these days.Turtle announces to his drivers that he has to cut their salaries, and they bolt. As he washes the cars himself (another cutback), Alex (Dania Ramirez) calls him to clear up issues of her check bouncing. She visits while the boys' party to get cash from him, and she tells him about a possible way for them to make money. She has a friend she wants him to visit in Mexico.E reads the pages Roger left and goes over them with Drama. Drama doesn't think it's funny, but when Eric points out the sarcastic quips Drama just made about the script, Drama is ready to bring the pages over to Phil Yagota (William Fichtner). Phil agrees, but Johnny wants to know who they can find that's better looking than him (and with a straight face, too). Phil makes some calls and finds John Stamos (and still nobody can understand how he dumped Rebecca Romijn), which will get the network on-board instantly. Except Stamos wants to approve Drama. Drama is not happy but he concedes the issue. He calls E, who is having dinner with Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui), and Scott Lavin makes sure E knows he's hanging out with Vince and potentially got him his next role. Sloan tells E to go take care of things. And E does. He warns Scott not to bring Vince scripts, since it's his job. Scott tries to goad E into hitting him, but E won't do it. Scott shoves him, and E shoves him into the wall, breaking the dinosaur skull he bought earlier. Vince comes running out from playing "Truth or Dare" with two girls wearing Drama's hat and not on his head.

The boys are having some breakfast...
more
The boys are having some breakfast sans Vince (Adrian Grenier), who did not wake up for it. Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) offers to pay for it to get out of Drama's (Kevin Dillon) complaining about taking his home fries, but his company's card is declined. E (Kevin Connolly) calls Vince to wake him up for his interview with Maria Menounos of Access Hollywood at 11 AM, except that's only 90 minutes from now. Vince really wants to get a haircut but there isn't enough time. He decides to do it himself, and it looks like "Tobey Maguire's haircut from Brothers." Actually, it looks a lot like Drama's, and Drama is only too happy to show it to us. (funniest gag on the show in the last three years outside of Ari's paintball assault last year) Eric is naturally concerned, but Vince cleared it with Nick Cassavetes first.Turtle discovers that there was a $10,000 charge to the account from Tiffany's. His first suspect is Alex, his former driver whom he almost hugged last week. He holds her final check until she confesses, but she refuses to back down, insulted she would even be accused of it. However, she was the only one to use the card. As she pointed out, it was to buy Turtle's mom something very nice, which was really a ploy to impress Alex. The jewelry bought was only $1,000, but Tiffany's made an error and apologized. Humbled, Turtle tries to go to her, delivers her paycheck, and apologizes by trying to give her the gift card Tiffany's issued to make up for what they did. She refused and wants Turtle to leave. But Turtle simply wanted her to not be mad at him. She wonders why it matters. ("I like to be liked and I hate to be hated.") She says she's OK with everything, and he leaves.Drama convinces Eric to start helping reading scripts for him to do. This causes conflict at his office with Scott Lavin (Scott Caan), who still doesn't like him very much. Meanwhile, Ari (Jeremy Piven) gets a meeting with Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys. Lizzie Grant (Autumn Reeser) is able to get in on the meeting because of her extensive football knowledge...once she buttons up her blouse. ("This is the NFL, not the NBA.") Although Jerry tells Ari that the TV contracts are handled internally and all 32 owners must approve, he was impressed enough with Ari to invite him to the next owners' meeting to be the new lead for getting Los Angeles a new team. The Los Angeles Golds, perhaps? In spite of Lizzie making Andrew Klein run to rehab, Ari and Lizzie are ecstatic and Ari hugs her. Naturally, Mrs. Ari (Perrey Reeves) catches him doing that after went back on his promise to look at a chandelier earlier that day.The interview with Access Hollywood goes great, until Vince says the new movie with Nick Cassavetes will probably suck. He meant it as a joke, but now there is some P.R. maneuvering to be done, not helped by the fact that Shauna and Maria Menuous don't get along. (Shauna slept with her ex.) Between the spin doctoring, reading scripts, and Bob Saget busting his hump, Eric suddenly doesn't have enough time for Vince when Vince needs it. Scott Lavin (Scott Caan) takes the opportunity to talk to Vince about going out and doing some risky things, such as bungee jumping or heli-boarding. Eric manages to break away from Drama's script reading by promising to ask some showrunners to write a script designed for Drama. Drama is thankful and asks E to be his manager.Vince, being in the mood he's in following surviving the stunt crash, takes Scott up on the offer and they go skydiving. As Eric, Ari, and Shauna try to get Vince to focus, Nick Cassavetes goes ape about Vince's haircut, which he did not approve of Vince doing, especially since they have scenes to reshoot. Vince will talk to everybody about it...once he is on the ground after his skydive.

more
The boys are back, and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) appears to be done with his UCLA business classes. That is, if the car service he is operating out of the house is any indication, complete with Mercedes-Benz cars and equally well-built women to drive them. He hands out the assignments, only to find Alex late (again) and not exactly in uniform. (not that anybody would complain)Turtle gets a ride to Vince's set, where Vince (Adrian Grenier) is in a new Nick Cassavetes movie. The only problem is Nick doesn't like a shot of Vince's double being on fire and falling down a stairwell. He wants Vince to do a car jump stunt himself. Vince is goaded into doing it so people don't think he's a wimp or not a team player. Naturally, Eric (Kevin Connolly), Drama (Kevin Dillon), and Turtle have varying opinions, E being the one to freak out, Drama relating a story of a stunt he did once (on My So-Called Life), and Turtle is worried about their license to print money getting injured. Eric calls Ari (Jeremy Piven), who is swamped with requests from the likes of Jessica Simpson, Ryan Reynolds, and more. This, of course, goes against his entire principal of being the biggest agent in the world so he can get other people to do his work. As his worker bees sit around and not do much, Ari tells E that Cassavetes is tough when it comes to method acting, but he'll go down to the set and work on it, much to the chagrin of Mrs. Ari (Perrey Reeves) and their scheduled parent-teacher conference.Drama pays a visit to Phil Yagota (William Fichtner), who disappoints him by saying the network won't green-light any new show for him. Drama only has eight weeks left on his holding deal, and Phil asks Drama to talk to Lloyd (Rex Lee) about putting the script reading process into overdrive. Drama sees Ari in the office and demands a team to help him read scripts so something gets approved within the eight weeks. However, Lloyd had been holding back the truth. Several of the scripts Phil said weren't going through were just, not for Drama. Either he was too old, too young, or not good-looking enough. Drama is discouraged, but Phil assures him to keep trying and they will find the script to fit him. After Ari has a pleasant talk with Nick Cassavetes on the set about Vince doing the stunt (translation: if Ari tries to shut it down, Nick will break his f'in' neck), the guys gather back at the house to discuss the latest problems, Ari included.Turtle finally got rid of Alex giving her a hug after she cries about her parents' divorce and almost turned it into a kiss, which causes Alex to quit.Vince keeps going back and forth about whether to do the stunt, and Ari is wondering what he was doing there and not keeping his dinner date with Mrs. Ari.Finally, Vince makes a decision. He'll do the stunt. Nobody thinks he's a wimp for not doing the stunt, except himself. The day of the big stunt arrives, and everybody is on set. Nick shows support by filming Vince himself inside the car. The stunt goes off, the car jumps the bridge and is set on fire, and it works... until the brakes fail. The car crashes into a building and is ablaze. After several tense seconds, Vince emerges from underneath the car, dazed but otherwise OK. Everybody was worried, but he Vince has this far-off look on his face before asking Nick if he could do it again. He doesn't have to, but everybody was still concerned.

With Aquaman packing multiplexes across the world, it's time for Vince to capitalize on his success and pick his next project. Ari informs Vince that the dream role of Pablo Escobar in "Medellin" is available, and all that he needs to do to land the role is to impress Phil Rubenstein, the film's producer. The entire entourage attends a party at Rubenstein's Santa Barbara mansion, but all of the goodwill that Vince earns is destroyed when a prized model of Shrek disappears from the producer's house during the party. Suspicion immediately turns to Dom, but the ex-con flatly denies the theft. Turtle, Drama and E don't believe him, but Vince does, and he won't waver in his support for his friend. Spencer interviewed him about his wedding proposal to her while he still was an unknown, something even E never knew. The man is not only literally insulted when Vince walks out instead of answering but implacable whatever E does or offers, he demands $350,000 or his website will stop at nothing to sink Aquaman because of Vince. Meanwhile at Comic-Con in San Diego Johnny Drama enjoys his relative star status with the comics fans, as Torvald from Viking Quest, but slowly gets pissed off to be outclassed by his series-opposite star Vanessa Angel, who however ends up telling him she always had a crush on him and finds him cruel he always held her off, so he finally dares tell her he's just as interested. Vince and E's problem is surprisingly solved by the Pussy Patrol girls...

Eric makes friends with golden touch-producer Harvey Weingard, who might buy Vince's movie, but actually wants him for an old project 'Tapping the Source'- he's hired on the spot for his Australian shooting in three weeks, but that would mean missing out on James Cameron's movie. Ari and E accept this 'safe bet', Vince decides otherwise- Harvey vindictively cries eternal doom. Drama hopes to land a part with his Spanish idol Alejandro Teva- by asking clumsy questions after his movie's screening, and still is offered an audition. more
Vince is taking big risks, listening to Turtle rather then E, Ari and his financial adviser: without a new role in the pocket, he is tempted to buy a Hollywood house, and one of true star status, which means an outrageous price, a multiple of his $1,000,000 limit, but the idea of being the next owner of Marlon Brandon's former villa with private pool is irresistible. Yet Vince still won't commit to sign for Aquaman, actually declares he won't play a ridiculous 'cartoon character' and seems decided against the part when he sees the costume design, E and Ari must pull all the stops to change his mind. Meanwhile party life goes on, with Johnny Drama focusing on getting his lifelong ban revoked at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion. It takes a lot of doing, after being found out in Vince's car trunk they nearly get all banned, but then...

Things appear to be back to normal. While the boys wait at a coffee shop for a meeting with Ari, they all give Eric a hard time about leaving Emily a drunken message the night before. Drama is in good spirits because he has some money to burn after getting residuals from his brief stint on "Pacific Blue". Ari has arranged a "meet & greet" with the director of "Queens Boulevard", so the group heads to the infamous Chateau Marmont. The outcome of the meeting is hazy: Vince likes Billy, but Eric is getting a bad feeling, and they walk away with a script that he has made revisions to. The revision that causes the most uproar begins to cause some tension among the ranks. Shauna lets Eric know that Vince's sex symbol status could be on the line if he chooses to go forward with this movie. Eric makes a secret phone call to Ari to express his concern. After hearing some reassuring wisdom, the boys screen Billy's previous film, which was a huge hit at Sundance. Amazingly, they all like it. The next day, handshakes are exchanged, and the decision is made to entrust the film to Billy Walsh.

The boys begin their day at Ari's office. They pair off: Drama prepares to meet his potential new agent and drags Turtle with him while Eric and Vince attend a special meeting. The "meeting" is basically an ego-booster for Vince where a roomful of agents try to entice him with potential projects. Drama discovers that his situation is an entirely different story when he finds his new agent answering his own phone in a cubicle. When he explains that it's going to be hard to find new jobs, an angered Drama storms out with some, ummm, dramatic parting words. Later, the boys attend Gary Busey's art opening where they bump into aspiring agent Josh Weinstein and a dejected Drama meets another old actor friend who is a waiter for a catering company. They leave the opening with an invitation to a hot beach party and go out with a bang, thanks to Turtle. Emily lets Ari know that he should be a little nervous about the whole situation. Turtle confronts Gary Busey with some interesting results. When Eric lets Ari know about their disapproval, Ari leaves his kid's birthday party to have an honest conversation with the pair. After things are settled, Ari lets Drama in on some somewhat surprising news.

The boys are less than pleased that Vince's latest fling, Fiona, has overstayed the 3-day rule that Vince instated long ago. At the gym, her new age approach to exercise bothers Drama. Her vegan lifestyle seems to be bothering everybody in the house. Eric is re-introduced to an old acquaintance who may have just the script that Vince has been looking for: a story about a guy from Queens. Turtle tries to find a way around a weed drought in LA. Over lunch with Ari, Eric learns that the producer of "Queens Boulevard" doesn't like Vince. Fiona overhears Turtle's dilemma and offers to take the guys to her Sherpa. The Sherpa (played by Val Kilmer) happily treats them all to some of his organically grown, pesticide-free "herbal supplements" and gets a little paranoid when Eric's phone rings. Eric and Vince have dinner with Scott Wick, the movie's producer, thanks to Ari. It's not going very well until Vince offers to hook Scott up after admitting to being high during the meeting. The three share a joint in Scott's car when a cop stops by to check up on them but Vince's charm and movie-star status saves them all. Needless to say, Vince has left quite an impression, and he gets the part. The boys are all pleased when Fiona leaves for an extended trip to India.

Ari wakes Eric with a phone call to remind him that tonight is the all-important opening night for Vince's movie. Immediately after Eric hangs up, Emily unexpectedly drops off fan mail, but with ulterior motives. Drama introduces the guys to his latest lady friend back at the house and then they discuss their plans for the evening over breakfast at a diner. Vince's major work for the day is a stop at Big Boy's Neighborhood, a local radio show. As a result of the appearance, Vince secures a date for himself with Justine Chapin. While everybody gets ready for the night's activities, Ari video conferences with Eric to tell him that matin?e numbers for Vince's movie have been "less than stellar" because it is in direct competition with the latest Pixar feature. Kristen also calls to confess to Eric that she might still harbor feelings for him. Turtle resorts to desperate measures to get a date for their night of bowling, and it does not go unspoiled. After bowling, the large group makes a stop at a night club where, one by one, the boys find themselves alone. The night does not end on a bad note, however, and Ari arrives with some good news.

The boys attend a boxing match at the Staples Center where they bump into various celebrities. While Turtle and Drama talk up Luke Wilson about his new home theater system, Jimmy Kimmel invites Vince to come on his show to promote "Head On." In the morning, the foursome discuss their past relationships with women, and the consensus (all but Eric) seems to be that it's better to leave a girl dangling than break up with her. Drama also fills Vince in on his old grudge against Jimmy Kimmel. Later on, Eric tries his best to do a pre-interview for Vince's appearance while they all enjoy a game of golf. Afterwards, he breaks it to Vince that one of his one-night stands will be appearing on the show as well. The day of the show, Kristen stops by the guest house to pick up some things from Eric where the visit quickly turns into "break-up sex." Meanwhile, Drama and Turtle visit Rufus, who tells them that if Vince plugs his company on the show, they'll get their home theater system for free. At the show, the boys go to the Green Room while Vince finds sets out for a pre-show apology/visit. Emily shows up and shares a cigarette with Eric, and with a little help from Drama, their free home theater system is secured.

While Drama practices for his acting class over breakfast, Turtle enters with some bad news: an important trade magazine has given Vince's performance a negative review (including calling him a "fly-by-night pretty boy"). While paying Ari an office visit to discuss it, Eric meets Ari's new assistant, Emily. Following Ari's advice to show Vince a good time to get his mind off the review, Eric okays Vince's poor decision to lease a new Rolls Royce. Jessica Alba bumps into the boys during their luncheon and invites them to her party for Justine Chapin, her virginal pop-singer friend. The party proves to be a good time for everybody: Justine hits on Vince, Turtle shows off the Rolls to some girls, Eric gets some much needed assurance, and Drama finds that he isn't the only one skipping his acting class. Vince is reluctant to go but his buddies urge him to go with them. At the post-premiere party, Vince's agent, Ari, hassles Eric about getting Vince to read the script for a possible new project. Over breakfast, Vince says he's not going to do "Matterhorn" on Eric's advice. The foursome goes to meet with the director where Vince impresses him so much that Ari calls later to tell him that they've offered $4 million for the part. While Turtle and Drama celebrate, Vince lets him know that Eric is not too enthused about the script. Later, Ari and Eric share a rather confrontational dinner while discussing the future of their star's career. After Vince decides to take Eric's advice not to do the movie, the boys leave for their reunion. Before they can drive off, though, they get a call with some bad news: Colin Farrell has taken the part.
