Contains the classic elements of a good western. The shootout is fantastic viewing and the performances from Duvall and Costner are very good.

Slow starter but the movie picks up to finish with lots of action and a series of gun battles. Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner are naturals in this movie. Worth watching.

Typical Costner movie. Long, you get to know your characters, not very much suspenseful, but it will keep you more or less interested. And what would a western be without good old shutout at the end?

A Costner film! So expect this one to be long without much essence to it, a weak script and story and capitalizing on cinematographic effects. It is not very action-driven nor suspenseful and not that dramatic either, it almost felt like a waste of time at the end. But the acting is good. If only...
