A Mother's Work
Jax writes alone in the cemetery at...
more
Jax writes alone in the cemetery at Opie's grave, confessing he is terrified a great deal of the time, afraid of what he's done and might have to do. But he needs that rush of terror to get him out of bed in the morning. He confesses remorse for the violence he's committed. "But I think what brings me the most sorrow is that I've learned to justify this behavior. I always find a reason, a cause, a need, that allows me the karmic lubrication to stuff my guilt into a savage compartment. I've become the thing, the one I hated," he writes.
Clay is buried in a plain grave at the cemetery, with only Unser presiding. Gemma sits alone, drinking early to deal with being separated from her grandchildren. Nero meets with Fiasco and his crew, accepting a wad of protection cash.
Jax writes that he has lost his way since Opie, his conscience, was killed. He tells his sons that today will be an important day. He tells them they are the most important thing to him and he'll never hurt them or abandon them. "Everything I do is for my sons," he writes.
He leaves the cemetery.
A white pigeon struts along the highway, when suddenly it is obliterated into a cloud of blood, bone and feathers, as Jax rides to face his day.
At DA Patterson's office, Sheriff Eli Roosevelt checks in. They think Tara's too smart to run, but they don't know if Jax would really kill her."Let's find out," Patterson says.
Bobby's back on his feet and comes to the HQ with Chibs and Tig. Gemma is waiting, anxious because there are sheriffs outside the house, but Bobby points out if Tara gave up the club, they'd already be in custody. As the guys head upstairs, Gemma pulls Juice aside to talk.
Gemma sends Brooke out with Chuckie to get sandwiches. Jax is letting her work off the damage from breaking the window.
Juice doesn't want to talk about his overdose, but tells Gemma he doesn't want to die. "I'm just a little unsure about how to live in all this right now," he says. Gemma agrees not to tell Jax.
Juice tells her he might have "overshared" on a few things to Nero. Gemma assures him he didn't say anything, and Nero won't either.
Jax arrives, followed shortly thereafter by Patterson and Roosevelt. Jax whispers to Gemma: "Tell Nero I'll see him at Diosa." She leaves.
Patterson tells Roosevelt she wants to talk to Jax alone. Patterson asks where Tara is. Jax says she took the boys on a retreat.
"We had a meeting, she missed it. I'm just trying to find out if we're going to reschedule," Patterson says.
Then she asks Jax if he struggles with his need to be a good man. "My guess is you struggle with it every day, what you are, crashing into who you are," she says.
Patterson dances around, then asks Jax if he's willing to let his family pay the price for his mistakes. She promises him if that happens, it'll destroy him. She speaks to him as a mother, trying to reach through his anger."You're a husband, and a father, and a man -- before all of this (the club). Own your place," she says.
Upstairs around the table, Jax tells the boys that Patterson doesn't know where Tara is. Jax doesn't think she's running with Abel, who needs to be near his doctors. They want to find her before Patterson does, to convince her not to rat. And if they can't.... "then we do what they have to do," Jax says.
They decide to follow up on Tara's new lawyer, the hospital administrator, and see if Barasky has heard anything. Chuckie interrupts, to announce Marcus Alvarez of the Mayans is there.
Out front, Marcus admits to some concerns about the changes the club is making. Jax explains that the Chinese pissed off the Irish, so he had to deal with Lin's crew. As for the power shift with the Sons handing guns to August Marks' crew, Jax assures Marcus it's only about the fact that August has the biggest network and the only thing they could do. Marcus would have liked some warning, but Jax says he should have seen it coming.
Marcus says their shipment of guns is two weeks late and asks Jax to get it from August today. He wants Nero at the meeting, which surprises Jax. Then Marcus tells him the Mayans are setting up in Stockton (where Nero is). Jax is annoyed to just be hearing about it now. Jax would have liked some warning, but Marcus mocks him by saying Jax should have seen it coming.
From her hotel room, Tara calls her attorney, Mitch. She says she's in Lodi but needed time to think. He tells her the deal with Patterson is still on the table, but she can't bail again. She wants to meet with him first to review the deal and says she'll text him where.
Tara talks to Abel, telling him they're going on a trip to anywhere in the world they pick. She asks him to help his little brother not be scared. Her heart melts as she watches her two boys together.
Juice and Bobby follow Mitch as he leaves the courthouse.
Jax and the Sons meet with Nero's crew and August's gun dealing Niners. August isn't there yet.
Jax asks Nero when he knew about the Mayans moving into Stockton. Nero assures him he found out yesterday and pointedly says he doesn't believe in keeping secrets from friends (referring to what he learned from Juice -- that Jax had him kill Darvity, the mother of the school shooter).
"You believe in karma, hermano?" Nero asks. "You ever think maybe all of these bad things that are happening to the mother of your children, it's because of some heinous thing that you did to another child's mother?"
He tells Jax he knows about Darvity. He tells him stuff like that doesn't just get buried. It comes back, and when it does, it makes you pay.
Marcus Alvarez rides up and Chibs delivers word that Tyler is handling all of August's street deals and August won't be coming.
The crews have a business discussion/macho-off. Marcus wants assurances that the street balance won't be upset. He asks about Lin and mentions that the Sons killed Bohai Lin and eight of his guys, which is news to Nero. Tyler says he reached out to Henry Lin to smooth that over.
Marcus agrees to take Tyler's guns, but he's angry Marks didn't come.
As the Sons ride off, Nero asks Marcus what happened with the Chinese. Nero glowers as Jax drives off, hearing about how Jax killed the Chinese in cold blood to seal the deal with the Irish and Marks.
Marcus asks to see the guns before he takes them. Nero and Fiasco are both stunned when Marcus's Mayans all pull guns and blow away Tyler and the Niners.
Jax meets with Barasky, asking him to have his guys to keep an eye out for Tara. But he has good news, with the Navy in town, Collette has doubled her business. Jax tells Barasky about the Mayans setting up in Stockton, but he says the Mayans and Niners don't have a beef anymore.
Rat interrupts to tell Jax that Tara's lawyer is waiting at a park in Lodi.
When Jax rides off with Happy, Barasky tells Tig and Chibs that he just heard about the Niners shooting over the police scanner. He's not surprised everyone is scrambling for their gun turf, and he wonders where Nero is in it.
Nero is having lunch with Marcus, angry about being blindsided by the shooting. He doesn't want to be part of those things, especially given his ties to Gemma. Marcus supports Nero's desire to step away.
Marcus is meeting with Henry Lin tonight to divvy up Stockton and Oakland, he suggests Nero send Fiasco to represent him.
Nero doesn't seem to like his options.
Bobby and Juice wait at the park as Tara pulls up with her boys to meet with Mitch. He goes over everything and says she'd have to testify. She tells him where she's staying and where the sheriffs can pick her up. Tara stays to let Abel play on the playground as Mitch goes to call Patterson.
Wayne drops by Gemma's to take Wendy to rehab. He's worried about what will happen to Tara. Gemma asks about Clay's burial, then kisses him for going. "I love you Wayne, I don't know what I'd do without you," Gemma says.
Gemma leaves to see Nero.
Wayne shares a cup of coffee with Wendy and they commiserate over the women who left them. Wayne says he sticks around Charming because it's the only place someone still loves him. Wendy says she married Jax because he had a good heart and she felt safe with him, but that's gone.
Jax, Bobby, Juice and Happy find Tara in the park. When she sees them, she's terrified. Jax takes Thomas out of her arms and glares at her.
"Please don't hurt me in front of the kids," she begs. She breaks down crying as she tells him how she sacrificed everything for him and how he's turned into a monster.
"I'll go if I have to, at least I'll know I tried to save them from becoming what you are," she says.
"I never forced my life on you, you came back to me. You're part of what I am, Tara, you always have been," he says.
She says her mistake was thinking their love was stronger than his history. She asks him why he'd condemn his sons to the same pain he deals with every day. Through her tears she asks to say good-bye to her boys before he takes her.
He takes her arm, then tells her she doesn't have to run - he's not going to hurt her or them. "Just be a good mother. Save our boys, please," he says.
Nero comes back to Diosa and faces questions from Gemma. She can tell something's wrong, but he doesn't want to talk. When she gets angry, he asks her if she would run away with him and leave everything behind."You know I can't make that choice," she says."I know, but I have to," he says."Jesus Christ, are you dumping me?"
Gemma flies off the handle and storms out.
Patterson comes to Tara's hotel room and is surprised to find Jax there with her. "This is me, owning my place," Jax says. He offers to turn himself in as the source of the KG9 and Tara is free to take the boys anywhere she wants.
Jax says he'll spend the day with his boys, who are at the ice cream shop, then be at his house at 6 p.m. to turn himself in.
When she leaves, Tara thanks him. He says he loves her, she says the same and they fall into bed.
Later, at the table, Jax explains things to just Bobby and Chibs and says there's no other way. He'll be charged with possession and conspiracy. Tara's lawyer thinks they'll settle for 25 years, parole in 10, maybe 7.
Bobby lies and tells Jax things went fine after the gun deal between Alvarez and the Niners.
Jax suggests Bobby take over as president, with Chibs as VP. He tells them to just stay in legit business.
One last thing: He says Juice can't be trusted.
He tells them to support whatever Tara wants.
At her house, Gemma ignores pounding on her door as she drinks and smokes alone. Finally Wayne lets himself in. He tells Gemma that Jax is being arrested and Tara made a deal. She thinks she'll never see her grandsons again. She wants to leave, but Wayne stops her because she's drunk and not fit to drive. She sends him for her heart pills in the other room and she takes Wayne's keys and leaves.
Back at the ice cream shop, Wayne tells Jax to find Gemma and fill her in. Juice offers to go get her. Jax follows Juice outside. As Jax hugs him, he whispers menacingly in Juice's ear: "You betrayed me."
Roosevelt takes Tara back to her house, where Wayne's truck is parked in the driveway. Roosevelt goes to wait outside for Patterson. Tara has a brief moment, savoring being back in her own house.
Then she walks into the kitchen and sees Gemma. Gemma attacks Tara, she grabs her with a nearby iron and bashes Tara in the head with it. Then she dunks Tara's head in the sink full of water. As Tara thrashes, Gemma picks up a carving fork and jams it repeatedly into Tara's head. Tara doesn't stand a chance.
Outside, Juice pulls up and tells Roosevelt that Gemma was driving Unser's truck. They hear a noise from inside and race in to see Gemma slumping to the floor next to Tara's mutilated body.
"It had to be done. I had work to do. It had to be done. She made a deal, she betrayed him," Gemma babbles.
"Tara didn't rat, Gemma. Jax gave himself up to protect her, to keep her safe," Roosevelt says.
He picks up his radio and starts to call it in, when suddenly there's a shot. Juice blasts Roosevelt away. Juice looks down at Gemma and offers her a hand up from her destruction.
Later, Jax kisses his sons good-bye and says his good-byes to the club.Wendy sits alone in rehab. Wayne tokes alone. His truck returns to the yard with Gemma at the wheel. She's showered and changed. She collapses on him sobbing.
The Sons wait for Tara to come pick up the boys at the ice cream shop. Jax rides to turn himself in.
Fiasco shows up at the meeting with Marcus and Henry Lin -- with Nero. Nero feels the weight of rejoining the life he's been trying to flee.
Juice disposes of the evidence from Tara's house in Dumpsters.
Jax comes home, expecting to meet Patterson and turn himself in. Instead, he finds two dead bodies on the kitchen floor, including his wife. He puts down his gun and breaks down sobbing and cradles Tara's lifeless body in his arms. He kisses her. Patterson and her sheriffs come in. She takes in the scene, including Roosevelt's dead body and Jax's gun.

You Are My Sunshine
Jax meets privately with DA...
more
Jax meets privately with DA Patterson, who tells her the sheriff's deputy getting killed during Clay's transport hijacking was collateral damage from the IRA. She's not buying it and doesn't believe Clay would kill Galen and his men either. Jax tries to sell the idea that Clay and Galen's deal went bad."There's a lot of that going around," she says, perturbed.
He argues he delivered what he promised: KG9s, IRA supplier and a local gun dealer.
"You're a very smart man, Mr. Teller. I can see how you've risen to your rank," she says."Unfortunately, I inherited it," he says.
She wants to finish her investigation before she decides if he kept his end of the bargain.
They split and Jax reports to his guys. "She knows she got played. She also knows she got what she needed. We gotta wait, see how it lands," he says.
Up at the cabin, Tara sits at Bobby's bedside. Patterson calls to let her know she squared away witness protection through ATF using a RICO charge. She needs the bullet and wants to meet soon. Tara hurries off the phone as Bobby wakes up, but says she'll try to make it work.
Bobby wakes up and thanks her, taking her hand.
Wayne drops by Gemma's, where she's feeding the boys. Abel's in a funk and asks where mommy is.
Jax and Chibs meet with Connor, who sold the Kings Jax's story about Clay and Galen killing each other. But he hasn't brought up August taking over distribution yet. Jax wonders if Connor needs protection, in case Lin and the Asians try to retaliate when they hear Galen is dead.
On the reservation, Tig, Montez and Quinn check in on the guns the Irish are guarding. They check that everything is there but the KG9s. Then they shoot Galen's men.
Jax greets Bohai Lin and his guys later outside the warehouse to recover Happy. When he sees that the Sons have already killed Galen's guys, Bohai's upset, and explains he wanted to take vengeance himself. He demands Connor or he'll kill Happy."Starting a war drains both sides," Jax cautions."I'm not starting it, I'm joining it," Bohai says. He gets in his car and takes off, taking Happy with him.
At Diosa, Nero gets a visit from Fiasco, an angry member of his crew. He tells Nero that the Biz Lats feel like Nero has abandoned them since he met the Sons."I know we need alliances, but this club has been nothing but problems," Fiasco says. Fiasco assures him they all respect him and need him for the gang to survive, but he asks Nero to sit down with Marcus Alvarez of the Mayans. He wants "brown helping brown."
Nero agrees.
Back at Gemma's daycare and rehab, Wendy watches Abel draw. Gemma comes to see Wendy. She's going to real rehab tomorrow. Wendy can't understand why Gemma is helping her.Gemma explains that if Tara goes to jail, she's going to need help with the boys and her options are limited. She thinks Wendy has already paid the price for her betrayal. Gemma promises to deal with Jax letting her near the kids.
At the cabin, Tara announces to Juice that she needs to go get supplies. He tells her Rat will go with her.
Juice joins Bobby, who asks if everything went as planned with Clay. Bobby changed his vote because Clay dying before wasn't best for the club. "But this time it made sense," Bobby says.Juice doesn't look like he agrees.
Bobby can tell how tightly wound Juice is and orders him to go to Diosa to unwind. "You're making everybody nervous, especially me," Bobby says.
With Bobby in the bathroom, Juice pockets most of his pills.
Nero meets with Marcus, who explains the delicate gang balance in Oakland and the fact that the Sons acted as de facto referee because they sold guns to all the gangs. But with the Sons pulling out and August taking over, it gives the Niners more power and creates an imbalance.
Alvarez is going to meet with the Chinese to discuss their options. Nero tries to explain he has nothing to do with the Sons outside of Diosa. Alvarez tells him he's starting a Mayan chapter in Stockton. If things play out the way he expects, it'll be brown and yellow against black and white, which puts Nero at odds with Jax and his own crew.
Nero wants to stay out of it, but Alvarez makes it clear that he can't.
Jax, Chibs and Tig tell Connor that someone found his truck empty and his guys dead. Jax tells him this is why he needs August Marks, for protection. Connor agrees to at least suggest it to the Kings, which is what Jax wanted to hear.
Tara arrives at her office and is surprised to find Gemma waiting for her. She wants anti-nausea meds for Wendy. Tara tries to look busy as she says she'll meet Gemma outside in 20 minutes.
Gemma passes DA Patterson in the hall. Patterson says she's there because of the sheriff's deputy.
In Tara's office, Patterson introduces Raymond Bowman with ATF. They want the bullet, but Tara refuses to hand it over until after they send her immunity and witness protection agreement to her lawyer. If he says it's OK, she'll be at Patterson's office by 6p with her sons.
When she leaves, Bowman thinks Tara hasn't made up her mind. Patterson knows it's a big decision for her since she loves Jax and grew up without a father and doesn't want to repeat it. Patterson lays out Tara's options: "If she doesn't testify, I'll bury her in court. If she tries to run with those boys, the MC will hunt her down and kill her."
Back at the cabin, Tara asks Jax about his plans for the night. He says he'll be dealing with the Irish til late. The boys are with Gemma. Tara says she'll stay at the cabin.Jax tells her they'll figure things out.He turns to leave and she goes to him and hugs him. She tells him she's sorry then walks away.
Jax rounds up everybody but Bobby and Red and they head out.
Juice stumbles in to Diosa, stoned and upset about Clay. He talks to Lila, who assures him things will get better. She shows him to a room to wait for a girl. He asks for someone nice.
Back out at the bar, Lila says hi to Gemma and tells her Juice is a little "undone."
Waiting for his date, Juice looks at his MC tattoos in the mirror and starts to freak out. He scrambles for more pills as he crumples to the floor.
Back at the cabin, Tara gets the booze out of Bobby's hands and gets him back in bed. He tells her he loves her as he drifts off.
Tara makes excuses and says she's going to lie down, then climbs out the window.
Jax and the Sons meet up with Connor and his guys. The Kings weren't thrilled with the August Marks idea, but he's waiting to meet with him.Instead, when cars pull up, Bohai Lin and the Chinese get out. Connor knows he's been betrayed as the Sons all pull guns on him. Jax smiles at Connor and tells him: "Don't worry, it ends well."
Connor doesn't have much reason to believe him as he's hauled away. Jax makes sure to get Happy back before turning over Connor.Lin's guys drive off with Connor and his men.
Jax and the Sons show Bohai Lin and his guys into the warehouse, telling him the guns are in the trunk. But when they fling open the truck doors, a hail of bullets rains out on the Chinese, courtesy of the Niners, with back-up from the Sons.A half dozen Chinese are mowed down. Chibs hands Happy a gun as Happy says he loves his guys. Happy finishes off his captor, Bohai.
Tara drives away from the cabin and gets a call from Patterson, telling Tara her lawyer made a few tweaks but OK'd her deal. Patterson expects her by 6 p.m.
Back at the warehouse, the Sons have recovered Connor and his men. Connor is not thrilled with the turn of events, but Jax smugly reminds him he told him it ends well. And now Connor knows he can count on August Marks.
Jax knows this means Oakland "unravels a little," but he's prepared to let August explain it when he arrives.
At Diosa, Gemma declines Chuckie's offer to trade chinchillas for house services. When Nero comes in, she tries to ask about his bad day. He doesn't get a chance to answer when the girl who was with Juice comes in to get them.
Juice is passed out naked in the room. Lila finds the oxy wrappers, but they tell her not to call 911. Instead, Gemma jams her fingers down his throat to make him throw up.
August shows up and tells Connor he can double their territory. He hands over $500,000 and asks for their first order to be four times the Sons' usual shipment. "You tell your organization I'm very serious about being in business with them. And if it helps, my mom's maiden name was McDuffy," August tells Connor. He leaves Connor the cash.
Jax walks August to his car. "Whatever happens here, you've done your part. Traeger's clear," August says.
Back at Diosa, Nero notes that it doesn't seem like Juice cared if he died. Gemma knows, but asks Nero to let her talk to Juice before anyone tells Jax.
Tara pulls over to call Gemma, she tells her Bobby's been drinking all day and his stitches are bleeding and with everyone gone she needs an extra pair of hands. Gemma tells her Wayne is at her house with the boys and says she's on her way.
Gemma goes to Nero, who asks if everything's OK."No, of course not. First the little one OD's now the fat one is bleeding out," Gemma says. She tells Nero she loves him before she leaves and kisses him good-bye. Lila thinks it's sweet. Then Juice wakes up and throws up on Nero's hand as he holds the trash can, very sweet.
Lila has to go service customers so it falls to Nero to get Juice up and moving. In his woozy state, Juice apologizes for killing someone. Nero pieces together that he's talking about Darvity, the mother of the school shooter."Jax put that on you?" Nero asks.Juice cries and apologizes. When he slumps to the ground, Nero, disgusted, lets him fall in a crumpled mess. He contemplates the world he's part of now.
Wendy and Wayne play with the boys at Gemma's house when Tara comes by. She collects the boys and goes to leave, but Wayne stops her. She says she wants to take them to dinner, but Wayne won't let her go.
Tara calmly turns Abel's head toward her and away from Wayne and pulls a gun on Wayne. She tells him to tell Gemma what she pulled.Wayne and Wendy ask where she'll go and she assures them she'll be safe. They realize she made a deal. Wayne doesn't want anything to happen in front of the boys, so he opens the door.As Wendy watches Abel run out, she shouts out "I'm your real mommy!" Tara panics and wallops her, then grabs Thomas and runs out.
Moments later, Gemma gets a call, stops her car and turns around.
Connor gets word from the Kings that they'll try a deal with August. "It's been an interesting road, Jackson, one I'm really looking forward to getting off of," Connor says."You and me both, brother," Jax says.
Connor shakes hands and drives off.
"Well Jackie boy, you just advanced race relations in Ireland by 50 years," Chibs says."And half a million dollars," Tig says. The Sons enjoy their victory.
Jax gets a call from Gemma.
Nero tucks Juice in to bed. Lila comes to tell him that Gemma called, asking him to meet at Jax's house. Nero nods, full of fury.
In the car, Tara tries to explain what Wendy said to Abel, saying that sometimes mommies have to do hard things that not everyone likes.
Tara starts to sing them "You Are My Sunshine" to keep them calm. Then Abel asks where they're going and if daddy will be there. Tara wipes away tears.
Patterson and the ATF try to reach Tara, but don't get her.
Tara pulls over her car, which is loaded in the back with suitcases.
Only the janitor comes to Patterson's office. It's 6:40p.m.
Tara brings the boys to a motel. (over "You Are My Sunshine")
Jax comes home and looks through every room, finding only empty closets and cribs. Gemma shows up. "I saw Patterson at St. Thomas, she must have made a deal," Gemma says.
Jax goes nuts and trashes the room.
In Patterson's office, she tells the ATF guy she'll have her sheriffs start looking for Tara. Tara lies in bed with her boys.
Nero shows up angry at Jax's house. "Tara ratted, she took the boys," Gemma tells him.
Nero sees how hurt Jax is and tries to let his own anger go. He clenches his fist, then puts a reassuring fatherly hand on Jax's back.

more
Tara wakes up in Abel's room and checks on Thomas. She sees Jax didn't sleep in their bed. Rat is waiting in the kitchen. He tells her Jax doesn't want the boys in daycare at St. Thomas anymore.
Jax meets with DA Patterson and gets the prepared immunity agreements for the club and Tara. He tells her to find Galen at a warehouse between 12 and 1, and warns her he'll be well armed.
At Gemma's, she and Nero tend to Wendy as she recovers. Nero urges Gemma to get Wendy into rehab. "I know. We have rough history, me and her. I was just trying to help her more than hurt her, for a change," she says.
Nero asks if she might have mercy to spare for Tara. He recognizes the hate Gemma feels for her, saying it's how he felt about his son's junkie mother before she died."I can't forgive her, Nero, not now," she says.
The Sons ride together.
Tara brings the boys to Wayne so she can go meet with her new lawyer. He tells her he knows her heart was in the right place. She says that doesn't matter.
"She seems really sad," Chuckie says."There's a lot of that going around," Wayne says."It's not going to get any better, is it?""Not today, Chuckie," Wayne says.
Tara meets with her new lawyer, who explains that if she uses her miscarriage testimony in her custody case and the DA finds out it's false, it could hurt her with her murder accessory case. She essentially has to choose her boys or her freedom.
The Sons arrive at the Irish warehouse. Galen's at the hangar with the guns, they'll meet him after the take down.
They have four delivery vans ready to go. Connor runs through the plan. He's busted two people out before.
Everyone puts on jumpsuits, bulletproof vests and masks. They grab heavy artillery.Jax tells Montez and Quinn to give them an hour before they head back to TM.
Clay is loaded into the prison transport. The Sons get in their delivery van.
Clay's transport takes off.
Pan back from Quinn and Montez outside the warehouse and Roosevelt, Patterson and dozens of deputies staking out the warehouse, expecting Galen.
Gemma arrives at TM. She tells Wayne she's thinking of taking Abel to see Wendy. Wayne checks that Gemma understands he helped Tara because of the boys.
Wayne asks who would look after the boys day to day if Tara does go away. She says she will. He makes a case arguing that raising them in the club isn't romantic anymore. She asks why he's still sticking around."Because I love you. Because I'm in love with you," he says.
Jax waits in a van with Juice, who tells him things feel different. He wants to feel like he's one of the good guys. Jax assures him he still can.
Connor calls: there's one follow vehicle with five guys.
The vans pull out. Tig's van takes out the follow vehicle. The other vans follow Clay's transport, which is soon blocked by the vans. The Sons' giant guns easily blast through the bulletproof glass. They get Clay out of the back. He's surprised to see Jax open the door. "Where are the Irish?" Clay asks."In Ireland," Jax says.
At the warehouse, they see Montez and Quinn pulling out and hear the transport call for help. They realize Jax got them all on the other side of town.
As one of the vans is pulling away, one of the cops finds his guns and shoots, hitting Bobby twice. Juice drives over the cop, killing him.Bobby's vest took one bullet but the other badly wounded his shoulder.
Tara goes to Gemma's to pick up her boys. Nero suggests to Tara that Wendy could use a doctor, Tara wishes them luck finding one. Then Gemma gets a call and tells her about Bobby.
Tara can't believe they want her help, asking if she's just supposed to play "mob doctor" and pretend everything is fine. Gemma says she'll pretend if it means saving Bobby's life.
At the scene of the hijacking, Patterson hears the report and says she needs to re-evaluate her options.
The Sons take Clay to the airport hangar. He goes over and hugs Juice, thanking him for today.
Clay, Chibs, Tig and Jax walk into an office to greet Galen and the Irish. Clay embraces Galen. Then as soon as Clay steps away, Jax blows Galen's head off, followed by Tig and Chibs taking out the other two Irish.
Clay is stunned."We had a vote, decided this had to happen," Jax tells him. With Gemma, Tara and Nero arriving, Jax tells Chibs things will still go the same way they planned.
They leave the Irish bodies in the office. Jax asks for an ETA on Connor.
Nero remains stoic when he sees Clay. Gemma asks if he's being taken to Belfast.
"I think there's another plan," Clay says peacefully, understanding what's happening. He kisses Gemma on the cheek and tells her he's glad she found someone.
Nero doesn't love what's going down and tells Jax he's not sure he can take much more.
Tara assesses Bobby and says he's really bad. She needs surgical tools from the hospital. Jax suggests they take him to the cabin.
Connor is 15 minutes out."What happens now, Prez?" Clay asks, not resisting."We settle with the Irish," Jax says, full of meaning.
Clay mentions the three dead bodies and guesses their plan for him, saying if it was his problem, he'd stage a fight."I guess you had another vote I wasn't privy to," Clay says."Yea, we did. This time it was unanimous," Jax says.
Juice, Chibs, Tig and Jax walk Clay back in to the office."It's good," Clay says."Yea," says Jax.
Chibs hands Jax the gun.
Outside the office, Gemma, Tara and Nero can see him through the window. Clay stands there, facing his fate.
Jax shoots Clay in the neck. Gemma starts crying.
Clay collapses to the ground and Jax finishes him off with four more shots.
Later, he checks on his mom. She says she's OK and will take Tara to the hospital and the cabin.
Jax checks in with Nero. "I'm glad you were here. What went down today was us burying the last piece of a very broken past. What you and me are doing together, that's SAMCRO's future," he says.
Tara hears Jax but doesn't say anything. He thanks her as she gets in the van with Bobby, and she takes his hand.
Everyone but Jax, Tig, Juice, and Chibs leaves.
In the car, Tara explains to Nero that Clay killed Piney and got the cartel to try to kill her, which is how her hand got crushed. "Clay Morrow should have been dead a long time ago," she says.
Gemma starts sobbing. "I hated him so much," she says.
Patterson calls Tara, wanting to meet with her at her office. Tara offers Gemma a comforting hand.
At the warehouse, they finish staging the scene as Connor arrives. Jax slips a gun in Clay's hand.Connor arrives with his man.
Jax follows Connor into the office and lets him take in the scene, then he disarms him and tells him the story: Clay and Galen had some kind of side deal. It went bad and they started arguing. Clay shot Galen and when his men ran in, Clay shot them, too. So the Sons shot Clay.
"Did you murder them all?" Connor asks. "I'm giving you the truth they need," Jax says, explaining anything else looks like Connor failed. Jax tells him August Marks will take over distribution, so they can either work with a black person or lose business. Connor thinks Jax played him, but Jax points out if he did, he played him right into the number one spot. Jax tries to talk to him as a reasonable, good person. He gives Connor his gun back.
Connor worries about selling it to the Kings, but says he'll call Belfast in the morning.
Jax explains they have to leave the rest of the KG9 so he can deal with a "local problem."
Gemma, Nero and Tara arrive at the hospital. Tara goes inside alone.
Gemma is angry at herself for being upset about Clay. She asks where Nero is with the club."Godfather Paradox: the more distance I try to create, the closer I get," Nero says.
Gemma reminds him how Jax feels about him."I'm a little too old to adopt," Nero says."You could always marry me," Gemma says."No offense, mama. I've seen what happens to your husbands. It ain't pretty," he says.
She tells him she's glad he's in their lives.
In Tara's office, Patterson offers her a deal, but to get witness protection she has to provide them with evidence of a federal crime. They want to know who broke Clay out.Tara asks if she provided them with a sheriff's bullet with a club member's DNA on it if that would be enough. She asks to have until tomorrow.
After she leaves, Roosevelt and Patterson get word about the four dead bodies, including Clay and Galen.
At Piney's cabin, Tara operates on Bobby, carefully removing the bullet.
At Gemma's, she reads to Thomas in bed with Nero. Wayne brings in Abel and says good night.
Alone in an office, Connor has a drink and angrily shoots his gun into his careful transport plan.
At the cabin, Bobby wakes up.At the hangar, they inventory the KG9s. Patterson goes into the office. "Teller kept his promise, he gave you Galen and the guns," Roosevelt says."No he didn't. The deal I made didn't include a stack of dead bodies," she says as she looks at the carnage.
Up at the cabin, Tara cleans up after her surgery. Jax thanks her. "I understand why you did everything you did. I'm sorry being with me took you to that place," he says.
When he leaves, Tara gets up and locks the bedroom door. She takes the bloody bullet out of her pocket, debating her future.

Tara wakes up to the sound of Jax's...
more
Tara wakes up to the sound of Jax's bike coming home. She runs for her gun but doesn't get it, then checks on the boys and finds Jax holding Abel. He calmly carries Abel into the kitchen where he has a packed bag waiting. He tells Tara someone will be watching her in case she tries to run. He's leaving for awhile, saying if he doesn't, someone's going to get hurt.
(Opening montage.)At TM they put up signs announcing their grand re-opening. Sample sign: "Kaboom! Our prices are da bomb!"
Nero signs paperwork with Collette to open Diosa Del Sur. Jax rides alone.Tara takes the boys to daycare as one of the new recruits follows her.Clay is taken out of his padded room.Wendy wakes up from her junk binge.Galen arrives stateside.Jax watches over students arriving at the school where the shooting took place.Tara looks at her blood stain in her office and cries.Jax sits in the school church.
Back in his cell, Clay chats with his Irish connection inside. He's back in general population after talking with his lawyer, who told him his trial has been moved up. He gets moved to county tomorrow.
Margaret the administrator drops by Tara's office. Tara tells her Ally Lowen told Jax everything. Margaret catches her up on Gemma bluffing her for information. She's terrified Jax is going to come after her and tells Tara she's going to stay with her sister.
Jax joins Collette and Nero at her place, where the paperwork is in order. She examines both their battered faces. "I don't know what happened, but no more fighting," she says.
Jax asks to stay there for a few days. She's escorting him upstairs to her room when Gemma, Bobby, Tig, Happy, and Chibs arrive.
Clay wants to see Gemma this afternoon. Galen is at Nor U Bev distribution warehouse and wants to see them ASAP.Jax tells everyone he learned that Tara was never pregnant and set up Gemma so that Gemma could never be the boys' guardian. He apologizes to Nero and Gemma for not believing them.
Bobby suggests a familiar face might motivate Tara to stay put. Juice volunteers.
Gemma notices Collette's familiarity with Jax and asks Nero how long that's been going on. "Not long. He's working out his mommy issues," he jokes.
The guys show up at Galen's warehouse. Jax relays that the Italians, their biggest customer, are the only ones undecided about staying with Clay. Jimmy Cacuzza's weighing an offer from Bohai and Henry Lin. The Sons think it's just for show on Cacuzza's part, but Galen insists on going with them to the meet with some of the new merchandise to seal the deal.
Then Galen lets them in on the reason for the rush; Clay's trial has been moved up. Galen tells Jax he needs their help to jack Clay's transport tomorrow. Nobody likes it, but Galen says his men can't get in town in time.
Jax doesn't think they have a choice, even though they all know if things go bad the Irish will leave a bloody wake. "I don't want our last push out of guns to end in a pile of dead cops," Jax says.
After calling in a vote, the Sons agree to help.
Juice doesn't make an effort to hide as he parks behind Tara at Wendy's house. Inside, Wendy makes a frantic call looking for something.
Tara sees Wendy's kit and track marks. Wendy says she's just trying to get into rehab. Wendy suggests she tell Jax and Gemma the pain she's in and be honest with them. "You know why you're not capable of being a mother? Because you're a coward. I'm not afraid of them," Tara says, calling Wendy a junkie on her way out.
Down on the street, Juice waits calmly on his bike behind Tara's SUV. She cranks her car into reverse and runs over his bike as he hops off just in time.
The Sons meet with Jimmy Cacuzza and the Italians. He's impressed with Galen and Connor joining them, saying it helps his profile to be seen with them. Henry and his dad Bohai Lin and their guys pull up. Galen is talking up the finer attributes of an AK when he suggests it works well on flesh and aims it at the Chinese. Chibs draws on Galen to make him stop firing and all but one of the Chinese get away, wounded but alive.
Galen says he was just showing Cacuzza how much they want his business. He offers him 10 percent above cost for 18 months, then only 15 percent. Cacuzza agrees to two years at 10 percent, then jump to 12. They shake on it.
Jax calls the dead Chinese gangster a complication, but Galen disagrees. Connor says he didn't know what Galen was going to do.
Jax apologizes to Cacuzza, who says it's no problem, he was never going to go with the Chinese.
The Sons race to get the Lins on the phone to explain the situation so things don't go to hell in Oakland.
Back at TM, Unser updates Gemma and Nero on Tara's visit to Wendy. He thinks Gemma should check on Wendy, but she has to go see Clay. Gemma suggests letting Tara unravel.Nero volunteers to go with Unser to see Wendy, to talk to her "junkie to junkie." Unser objects to riding in Nero's pimp mobile. "C'mon, Wayne. Get you in touch with your inner Cholo," Nero says."I had that removed. With my spleen...A little cancer humor," Unser says.
Gemma checks that she has her gun before she drives off.
At her house, Tara gets her gun out of the safe. Gemma walks in. "Just came by to get some of the boys' things. In case they need to spend some time at Grandma's," Gemma says pointedly.
"Yea, that's not going to happen," Tara says. "You know why you hate what I did so much, Gemma? Because it's something you would have done. You've been my teacher, my Old Lady coach since I came back to Charming. I thought you would have been proud of me, pushing the envelope to protect my family," Tara says.
Gemma says she would never have faked the death of a baby. Tara's acts surprised there's a line Gemma wouldn't cross.
Tara tries to kick her out, but Gemma suggests Tara needs all the friends she can get right now. Gemma toys with her, asking her what she thought was going to happen."Do you have any idea who your husband is? What he's capable of?" Gemma asks."I know him better than you do," Tara says, throwing down the gantlet.
"Oh no, clearly you don't. My son loves deep; hates deeper. It's in our genes. Betrayal is unforgivable. What you did, what you were planning to do? There's no coming back from that. All you can do now is tell him you're sorry, and go away," Gemma says.
"I'll never do that, not without my sons," Tara says.
Gemma gives her one final message, that Tara will never raise her sons, and they'll either hear that mommy moved away, or mommy passed away. "Your call," Gemma says.
Chibs reports they haven't been able to reach Lin.
Jax calls DA Patterson, promising to deliver Galen in the next 48 hours. Her immunity deal for the club is ready, as is a deal giving Tara only fines and community service. He warns her Galen will be heavily armed and she'll need manpower. He'll give her the details tomorrow.
"Think she'll take the bait?" Bobby asks when Jax gets off the phone."Depends what it is," Jax says.
They ride to Collette's, picking up some of Lin's guys as a tail.
Nero shares an awkward car ride with Unser, who remains tight lipped. Finally Nero says he's trying to make an effort because he knows how much Gemma loves Wayne."Thanks for making me feel like s---," Unser says."No problem, homes," Nero says.
Lin's guys close in on the Sons on the freeway, opening fire. The Sons race for cover, but two of Lin's cars track them to a stockyard. They hit a deadend and Jax drives through a fence. The Sons pull up to check on him and the Chinese surround them. The Sons drop their gun and lay face down.
Jax desperately tries to explain to Bohai Lin that they had nothing to do with Galen opening fire. Bohai lowers his gun and explains that's not his concern -- he wants their Northern California gun business and he wants retribution on Galen.
Jax tells Bohai that Galen has a shipment coming in tomorrow, his wheels already spinning over what this does for his plans with DA Patterson. He promises to tell Bohai Lin when he knows the details. Lin decides to keep Happy until then, which Happy goes along with.
Tara sees Juice watching over her at the hospital and confronts him. He says he's just watching over the boys, at the request of their grandmother. When she angrily demands where Jax is, he cheerfully gives her the address of Diosa in Stockton.
Unser and Nero knock on Wendy's door and smell smoke. Nero kicks in the door and finds something on fire on the stove and Wendy passed out on the floor.
They get her outside, where Nero sees her fresh track marks.Unser tells Nero he's glad he was there."Don't suck up to me now, homes. It's, like, embarrassing," Nero says, chuckling.
Gemma goes to see Clay, who presents her with a letter of intent to turn over their assets to her. "When I drop out, I won't be able to file for divorce, so this gives you everything without all the hassle," he says. She thanks him. They say good-bye.
Jax, Chibs, and Tig drop by Diosa Del Sur. Jax gives them permission to "unwind," before their big day tomorrow. Collette takes him upstairs.
Gemma joins the guys at Wendy's, saying she's taking her to "If You Use Again I'll Rip Your T--- Off" Rehab."I love that place," says Nero.
Tara arrives at Diosa Del Sur, where a girl tells her Collette is upstairs with a client. Tara goes up and finds Collette on top of Jax. He's not terribly bothered, and seems to enjoy being caught for half a second -- until Tara freaks out and rips Collette off him and starts attacking her.
Tig comes in to help Collette (putting on his silk boxers, naturally), and Tara runs out. Jax throws on clothes and follows.Out on the sidewalk, Tara holds her gun shakily at her side. "What happened to me?" she yells. She gets in her car and drives off.
(closing montage)
Jax picks Abel and Thomas up from daycare. Tara opens her phone and tries to figure out who she can call. Gemma settles Wendy in to bed at her house.
Unser and Nero share a cup of tea at Gemma's.Jax tucks his sons in to bed then goes back to his bedroom, alone. At Diosa Del Sur, Collette evaluates her scratched cheek, Chibs checks on her. Happy hangs out with the Chinese, eating Chinese food and watching cartoons, chained to a radiator. Jax works on an old bike in his garage with the baby monitor nearby.
There's a knock at Tyne Patterson's door. Tara comes in, saying it's urgent. "I'm ready to talk," Tara says.
She asks for Patterson's earlier deal of witness protection for her and her boys, but Patterson says she can't. "There are other things pending," she says.
"If you fear for the safety of you and your boys, I can help," Patterson says."No you can't. Nobody can help me," Tara says. She gets up and walks out.

more
In the morning, Jax contemplates his situation and goes to check on the crying baby.
At her house, Gemma kneels beside her bed and seems to try praying. Nero wakes up. She's glad he's home.
Tara sees Jax giving Thomas a bottle and thanks him, but takes over.
In the morning, Gemma tries to figure out how to tell Nero what happened with Tara.
Jax tells Tara why the Irish have spared Clay, and that they're going to bust him out of his transport next week.
Nero suggests that Gemma will need more than Wendy's word -- a junkie Jax hates -- if she's going to convince Jax that the mother of his children pulled what she's saying.
At Jax's, Tara decides she doesn't want to hear anymore. Jax knows Tara's doing what she thinks she has to in putting distance between them. He wants to help with her charges, but she doesn't think he can. He's not sure he can either, but he at least wants to be honest with her.
Nero tells Gemma he believes her. She tells Nero she loves him.
At Jax's Tara can only manage a "me too" to the same sentiment. Jax points out she hasn't managed an "I love you" since she got out of prison.
DA Tyne Patterson comes by the Charming sub-station. She asks Eli for 24-7 surveillance on Jax. He's sure Jax won't be trying anything now when the heat is on them, but he agrees.
Jax arrives at sweet shop HQ and sees a girl sitting across the road. Happy is back and says most of their buyers are on board going through Clay. They haven't talked to the Italians, who they assume won't like the "personnel change."
The Irish are going to get a phone to Clay inside to call everyone and firm things up.
Unser drops by, asking for a minute of Jax's time and a morning beer. Jax thanks him for his help with Tara. Unser tries to talk to him about Gemma, but Jax notices the girl across the street whacking one of their bikes with a wrench. She runs across the street and throws it through the ice cream shop picture window and takes off running.
Jax catches up with her, not hurting her, and asks why she did that. She sees a crowd gathering around them and calls rape. He has no choice but to let her run off as the disapproving eyes of Charming residents judge him.
Clay goes to chapel. The reading is from John 8:32.
Back at ice cream HQ, Unser tells them it was Gary Putner's kid who threw the wrench. She's a juvenile delinquent. Putner is an equipment foreman at Oswald's mill and knew Clay. Her mom was killed in a car accident, the chain reaction from the tractor-trailer that killed Jax's dad John Teller.
Eli Roosevelt drops by to warn Jax he's going to be under surveillance for awhile, Patterson has just one suspect on the KG 9. "This tail is going to happen, let's not make it ugly," Eli says.
Jax gets it.
Chibs worries about their busy week ahead of them.
Unser wants to finish their conversation about Gemma sometime.
Barasky calls with something urgent.
Tara meets with Ally Lowen to review her paperwork for the divorce. Her paycheck is now going into her own account, but she doesn't care if Jax keeps their cash. "It's about getting away, not cleaning him out," Tara says.
Lowen is still upset with Tara as she reviews her medical records and notes they're all handled by Margaret Murphy. She tells Tara using false medical records is a felony and they're going in front of a jury in two weeks. She wants to know if Tara has anything else planned. "You know everything," Tara says.
In chapel, Clay sits as the preacher talks about the truth of God. A guard comes in and nods to an inmate, who nods to Clay. Clay interrupts the sermon, questioning the power of God. He stands up and puts on a show as a preacher, extolling the values of a certain lady part. When the guards come to subdue him, he chomps down on one's nose and bites the tip clean off.
Jax, Happy, and Bobby head to Diosa to meet with Barasky. But first Nero wants to talk to Jax alone. He suggests Jax look at the situation with Tara and Gemma again. Jax bristles at the idea that Nero is insinuating Tara is a liar. Jax can understand Nero taking Gemma's side, but he doesn't want to hear it.
Barasky and Collette come by with their bad news. Barasky's bakery has been shut down by the health inspector, and their escort license for Diosa Del Sur was denied for "unspecified" reasons. They know Patterson is behind it, but can't do anything about it.
Nero argues for waiting it out, but Barasky can't take the heat. He pulls out of their deal.
Gemma walks into Diosa and things immediately get tense. When Jax starts in on Nero for taking her side, she tells Jax about the deal Nero was about to take, putting full responsibility for supplying the gun in the school shooting on himself.
Nero doesn't feel the need to make much of it, but Jax is stunned it almost came to that. Nero warns him Patterson isn't going to stop.
Jax takes a minute, then tells Happy to call everyone to chapel.
Tig joins them with an address for the Putners and they head there. Her dad Gary invites Jax in, but says Brooke isn't there. She's bipolar with anxiety issues.
Gary explains he lost their house this week and they've been packing. Brooke found photos of her mom and the article mentioning that John Teller caused the pile-up that killed her mom. "I'm guessing in her messy little brain she blames you guys, I'm sorry," Gary says.
Jax looks at an old photo of Gary with his late wife, Emily and thinks she looks familiar. Gary promises to deal with Brooke, Jax says he'll cover the damages. The photo of Emily eats at Jax.
Nero drops by Tara at the hospital and makes a calm, heartfelt plea for her to reconsider the situation with Gemma. Tara lashes out at him and tells him that Gemma killed John Teller and he'd be wise to get away from her now.
A doctor comes to check on Clay in the infirmary, where he's strapped down. The doctor clears the room then frees Clay, telling him he has 40 minutes to make calls before the shift change. He gives Nero a phone and leaves.
Margaret Murphy gets a message from Tara and goes to her office to see her. Except Tara has gone home, and Gemma is waiting behind the door. Margaret is terrified, but listens as Gemma explains her first impulse was to strangle her.
But then she decided she's going to take the medical records to the hospital board and explain that their administrator lied."It would be my word against yours," Margaret says."Thanks, Red," Gemma says, and turns to leave."What does that mean?"
"It means if the pregnancy was legit, you would have told me that those documents are real and called me crazy," Gemma says.
Margaret tells her she can't prove it. Gemma tells her she's going to leave it to Jax to prove, and then there won't be enough security in the state to keep her safe.
The Sons take a very serious vote, which gets unanimous yeas.
Jax goes to meet with Patterson to make her an offer. "I have an Irishman who sells KG 9s," he says.Jax offers up Galen O'Shea. "I will deliver him with a shipment of guns, open and shut," he says, promising it'll happen in the next ten days. He wants immunity for the club for all gun charges past and present. He tells her about his plans to go legit and how she's crushing them in Stockton.
He also wants her to look again at her case against Tara and accept that Tara had no idea Otto was going to kill the nurse.
She wants assurances. Jax tells her the deal won't happen if she keeps tailing him, but when it does, she'll get a win far above her pay grade.
She gives him the 10 days, with a promise to make his life and Tara's hell if he doesn't come through.
Jax meets with Eliot Oswald at burned out TM. Jax tells him they don't need his warehouse to store guns anymore. Then he mentions Gary Putner, who works for Oswald's lumber company. Jax asks him to help Putner keep his house. Oswald agrees, saying he's running for mayor and might need favors.
Clay finishes his calls. The doctor straps him back down, then makes his next payday -- he lets in the guard Clay attacked and another to beat on him.
Nero walks back to the Diosa kitchen to get an update on the DA from Jax, but gets sucker punched by him instead. Tara told Jax that Nero called her a "manipulative bitch."
"Well if she told you that, then I guess she is," Nero says.
They trade punches. Nero tries to put a stop to it, but Jax won't back down. Gemma comes in and begs Happy to break it up.
After the fighting stops, the yelling starts. When Jax starts in on Gemma, Nero tells her Jax needs to know what she did for the club. He tells Jax about the guards forcing her to have sex with Clay while they watched.
Then Gemma tells Jax she spoke with Margaret, who confirmed what Jax refuses to see. "It was all a lie, the pregnancy, the miscarriage. Tara wants out, Jax. You, the club, Charming. She's filing for divorce and she's going to take your boys away from you, from all of us. I'm sorry, I love her, too. This is the truth. And if she's not going to tell you, you need to find someone who will," Gemma says.
Ally Lowen drops by Unser's trailer at night. He says it's about Tara and the kids and invites her in. Then he walks out and locks her in.
She sees Jax in the shadows with a knife. He asks if Tara is divorcing him and taking his sons. Lowen says yes. When he asks, she admits she thinks the pregnancy was a lie. Jax kicks her out.
Unser reminds Jax that he promised no one gets hurt.
Lowen drives off and calls Tara.
Later, Gemma tends to Nero. He mentions what Tara said about her killing John.
Gemma thinks about it for a long time, then explains: John was trying to get the club out of guns, and traveling to Belfast, where he met Maureen Ashby. Gemma told Clay about JT. Gemma's son Thomas died while JT was away and she blamed him when he came back. Clay turned the deal the other way and solidified the relationship with the Irish. She tells him about JT's manuscript and that it was a dangerous time. "JT was a weak link," she says.
"You didn't answer my question," he says.
Gemma knew what needed to be done, the same way Nero did with Arcadio. She made her feelings known to Clay and gave her blessing for him to kill JT."I never told that to anyone, including my son," she says.
Jax returns to Scoops & Sweets and learns Brooke Putner is waiting for him. He sits down to talk with her alone. She apologizes for the window and the bike.
Oswald is going to help them keep their house. She thanks him.
(Closing montage.)Tara sings Thomas a lullaby. Clay sits in a straight jacket in a padded room. Gemma smokes, alone. Nero tries to process everything.
Jax sits alone.
Brooke walks down the street late at night, past a homeless woman who looks an awfully lot like her mother, Emily.
Tara holds Thomas on her lap, waiting for Jax to come home. The camera pans back to show what rests on her knee: a gun.

Los Fantasmas
Jax takes care of Tara as she...
more
Jax takes care of Tara as she recuperates from the "miscarriage" she supposedly suffered at Gemma's hands. The restraining order will keep Gemma away from Tara and the boys.
At the station, Sheriff Roosevelt asks Gemma what happened with Tara. He seems willing to believe Gemma didn't punch "pregnant" Tara like the eye witnesses -- Margaret and Wendy -- both say. Gemma tells Eli what actually happened, and that she doesn't believe Tara was ever pregnant.
Wendy deals with her guilt by going to buy a fix.
Jax heads to sweet shop HQ. Bobby shows him the paper, with a headline that says local gangs are tied to the school shooting.
In lock-up, Tyne Patterson shows Nero the paper. She plans to respond to public outrage by flooding his Biz Lat territory with police to bust them for every little infraction. She suggests he give up the Sons before someone else does.
Unser comes to see Tara, bothered by something. He got her the restraining order request before everything went down. Tara asks him if he really wants to know, but he's pretty much figured it out.She says she did what she did to protect her kids from Gemma and the club, but he's disturbed that Gemma could actually be charged with manslaughter."It breaks my heart that you had to become something so wrong to do what you thought was right. I ain't gonna tell her, but I can't help you no more," he says.
At chapel, they figure out how to deal with the bad press. They're going to check in with Nero's gang to make sure they aren't freaking out. Also, they have interviews for potential porn actresses to deal with. Bobby gamely volunteers, anointing himself Director of Operations.Juice updates Jax that Connor is still stateside, the Kings decided to keep him there to handle distribution with Clay. Juice thinks he's a decent guy.
Jax thanks them for their unspoken concern about his family.
Unser goes to feel out Sheriff Roosevelt about Gemma v Tara. When Roosevelt asks what Unser would have done, Unser says if Tara isn't pressing charges, he wouldn't bring any against Gemma on behalf of the county, but reiterates that he knows it's up to Roosevelt. Unser gives Eli room, but also paints the picture for him. "The Tellers, the MC, they're so deeply woven into the fabric of this town, on some level you know, the same way I did, if you rip them out, Charming unravels. Never looks the same," Unser says.
The Sons ride down into Biz Lat territory. They offer their manpower to help them control their territory. They spot a vice car staked out. Jax tells them to just keep everything cool. No one breaks and it's business as usual.
The car down the street that they thought was vice suddenly takes off toward them. Tig has to dodge out of the way, Juice stands still and plays chicken. The car swerves to avoid him. The Biz Lats run from the old car, but it catches up and runs one clean over, killing him.
Jax gives orders to put the body in a trunk and clear out. Tig identifies the make and model of the old car and thinks they might be able to trace it. The driver looked Hispanic.
Unser gives Gemma a ride home. "I may not have earned this, Wayne, but I want to know the truth. I promise I won't turn on you. You know about any of this?"He says no, but then says Tara was trying to protect her family.
"I'm sorry this happened to you, I am. You got a lot of love in you, Gemma. Sweet, deep love, I've seen it. But it's so wrapped around secrets and hate, I don't know if you could find it anymore," Unser says.
Gemma wonders if what Tara is doing is payback for all her secrets and hate.
He explains her options, one of which is slow and probably very uncomfortable, but eventually leads back to her grandchildren. The other one is the road she's already on.
Lowen brings Tara her paperwork. She wants to talk about what Tara did, but Tara writes her a check from her own account and won't engage Lowen.
Patterson summons Charlie Barasky to her office and threatens to put the port under sheriff's control, which would hurt all his dirty cops working there. A homeless couple saw the Biz Lat get run down. She wants him to find out who it was and why it happened.
Gloria Rodriguez, Nero's lawyer, calls.
Jax comes home to check on Tara, but she's not there. He gets a text from Barasky, who catches him up to speed and tells him he needs the driver of the car.
Jax is about to leave when Wendy shows up on his doorstep. He tries to run her off, but she tells him she just wants his son to grow up without hate in his heart. She's tired of being hated.
Patterson comes to see Nero -- who doesn't want his lawyer there. He's ready to give up the source of the KG 9. But first Nero wants his son Lucius moved to the best care in the state. He tells Patterson he didn't get the gun from the Sons, he bought it from some guy off the street and gave it to Darvity for protection.
Tara drops by the sweet shop. Bobby takes a break from his porn interviews to talk to her. He offers her his joint and his support. She asks if he thinks Jax can move SAMCRO into legitimate business. Bobby says Jax is still settling in to how to be king, but he'll figure it out. He asks what she thinks."It doesn't matter what I think, I'm just an old lady," she says. Then Bobby asks her not to leave Jax -- he doesn't stand a chance without her.
Jax joins Tig, Chibs, and Juice down the block from the house where the hit and run car was spotted. They think the driver is a member of an old gang, but still don't know his motivation. Jax doesn't care and explains his plan to turn him over to Barasky to satisfy Patterson. They just have to keep the three Biz Lats who are itching for revenge cool until the cops arrive.
Roosevelt catches Patterson up to speed on Gemma v. Tara. He gives her the DNA from Lee Toric's room, proving Toric killed Erin Byrne. She doesn't care, she already has Nero's confession. She thinks Nero will stick with it to help out his son even after his lawyer learns the murder charge they were holding against him was bogus. Roosevelt bites his tongue, but doesn't approve of Patterson's methods.
Jax gets off the phone with Barasky but sees the Biz Lats are moving in. The Sons get there as the Biz Lats are charging in the door. Jax tries to intervene, but the man attacks with a knife. Jax manages to keep anyone from firing as he sees a framed photo of a young boy on the shelf. The man's son was killed in the school shooting. The Biz Lats calm down, understanding the hit and run motivation -- and everyone clears out when Jax says the cops are on the way.
When the cops arrive, the man is holding a photo of his son and the knife. Instead of dropping it like they command him to, he drives it into his neck.
Patterson sees the Count of Aquino photo of the young boy and puts it together quickly.
Wendy returns home to see Gemma waiting for her. "Just do what you're going to do, Gemma," Wendy says, resigned.
"Was any of it true?" Gemma asks.Wendy shakes her head.
Gemma almost admires Tara's plan."I don't know how, but eventually, Jax is going to realize what she's done. And the question is, for you, what side of the fence do you want to be on?" Gemma asks.
Wendy thinks she loses either way.
Gemma wants her to tell the truth.
In return, she'll make sure Jax doesn't kill her.
Wendy tells her to take her gun back, and also tries to get her to take the drugs she bought that morning, but Gemma tells her she'll have to get rid of it herself to prove she can be trusted.
Jax and Chibs meet with Barasky, who thinks the hit and run is Patterson's fault for planting the story linking the gangs to the guns. "This is one headline she ain't going to want leaked: District Attorney Forces Victim's Daddy to Slit His Own Throat," Barasky says.
"Very catchy," says Chibs.
Jax asks about Alice. Barasky says he chopped, burned and buried her.Jax thinks he shouldn't have killed her.
"Don't worry kid, I'm not going to hold it against you -- unless I have to," Barasky winks.
Jax goes to the hospital and is surprised to see Gemma waiting for him. When she tries to explain, he seethes at her, telling her she'll never see his wife or his kids again."Grandma is dead," he says.
Alone in her apartment, Wendy shoots up.
Patterson pays an angry visit to Nero with photos of the kids who were killed in the school shooting. She tells him Toric killed Erin, but he should still want to do the right thing for the kids who were killed. He's free to go.
At home at night, Jax tells Tara he doesn't know if he can put things back together. "I just feel so far away from you now, I know that's my fault. Please just tell me, how do I get back?" he asks.
"I'm not sure," she says."Babe, please let me back in," Jax says.

Sweet and Vaded
(Opening montage)Back in the charred...
more
(Opening montage)Back in the charred remains of the clubhouse the Sons start digging through the wreckage. Tara drops the boys off at daycare at the hospital, meeting Wendy there; she gives her a supportive hug, encouraging Wendy to follow through.Gemma pines alone at the garage without Nero. He meets with his lawyer in jail.Venus Van Dam (Walton Goggings) primps at Diosa. The Sons take the salvageable parts of the clubhouse to their new temporary home at Scoops & Sweets, a closed ice cream parlor owned by Jacob Hale. Jax gives him three months rent up front.
Hale tells him the town is spooked about the MC -- they've got about three months left in his term to buy some goodwill. After that, he expects to lose the election and any ability to help them on the council.
Charming Heights development has slowed to a standstill after the murder of Damon Pope. The transfer papers have delayed everything so it'll be another six months before the Sons' maintenance contracts kick in.
At the hospital, Tara draws her own blood in her office. Margaret brings her files and checks that she's OK."Thank you, I know I've put a lot on you, things I've had no right to ask," Tara says."We've been through a lot together, Tara. I know you. I have been where you are. I thought a lot about all this last night and I can imagine how extreme it must feel to you, but you have to stay focused on the big picture," Margaret says."Dire circumstances require desperate measures," Tara says, resigned.
Tyne Patterson meets with Nero Padilla and his lawyer, Rodriguez. Patterson mocks Nero's business and his past criminal history then offers him a walk if he testifies that Jax and the Sons sold him the KG 9 that ended up in the school shooter's hands. She gives him 24 hours to think about it.
The Sons meet in their new clubhouse -- the upstairs of the ice cream parlor. Before they vote in the new patches, Jax says the Irish peace looks real. Bobby recaps their sad financials, hurting from the slowdown on Charming Heights and the destruction of Teller Morrow garage. They're relying on Diosa, but paying Nero back out of the profits.
Collette is spooked by Nero's arrest, so the Stockton expansion of Diosa is on hold.
They move on to accepting the new patches, Montez, Quinn and West.
After the hugs, Jax suggests making Rat Boy a full patch. They agree unanimously then holler for him to join them.
They all put on their most serious faces and command him to sit at the table and take off his cut. He's very worried, but they finally break the good news and welcome him.
August Marks comes to meet Jax and all the Sons at the warehouse. Jax explains his proposal that August take over their gun distribution wasn't exactly well received by the racist Irish Kings. He says he's working on something, but he's not ready to talk details. Jax explains why Connor is there and still alive, and August notes that Jax is learning. Bobby approves.
Jax gives Connor a message for Galen: They'll go along with Clay running distribution, but if that doesn't work, August is still willing to step in.As he's being put back in the van to be taken to his people, Connor thanks Chibs for sparing him. Chibs clarifies that he'd prefer Connor dead; Jax is the reason he's alive.
Gemma meets with Nero in jail. His lawyer is advising him to take the deal against the club. She mentions Venus coming by the club. Nero is clearly fond of her, calling her "familia." Gemma tells him that Venus's mother Alice has custody of Venus's nephew and Venus is worried about him. Nero is immediately alarmed and tells Gemma urgently that she has to get Jax to get the boy away from Alice, who will end up hurting him.
Roosevelt meets with Patterson, again making the not-so-subtle case against her railroading Nero. The DNA from Toric's room proving Nero's innocence could be back as early as tomorrow. She's trying to get Nero to take a deal before then, but doesn't expect him to.
Roosevelt tells her about running into Barasky outside a house in Stockton. She knows him as "a product of every slimy loophole in our system." She tells Roosevelt to look in to Barasky for a connection to the MC or the Biz-lats.
The Sons ride back to ice cream HQ and see Venus waiting for them with Gemma. Tig's jaw hits the floor, he is captivated. Jax is hesitant to get involved in anything, but Gemma convinces him to hear her out.
Joey, Venus's "sensitive" 15 year old nephew, ended up in the custody of his mother Alice when Venus's sister died while Venus was away. Venus tells the Sons that "abuse abounds in that house."She delicately explains how her mother tried to straighten her out when she was a 10 year old boy and her sexual inclinations and affiliations began to show themselves: She filmed young Venus in child porn.
Venus tried to talk to her mother yesterday, but her current husband "Mr. Dim and Dangerous" decked her. Venus suggests Joey can be watched by her friends in Seattle for a few months until he's old enough to emancipate. She's a wreck and practically dissolves when Jax agrees to help. (So does Tig.)
Tara meets with Ally at the hospital. She's prepared something that would legally prevent Gemma from being part of her sons' lives. Ally reminds Tara that the paper has no weight without both parents' signatures. Tara is sure Jax will sign it.
When Unser arrives, Tara asks him if he's still friends with a city clerk in Lodi. She wants to get a restraining order.
Roosevelt and Patterson pay Charlie Barasky a visit at his bakery. They know about the escort license Jax and Nero applied for at the Stockton house. Patterson tells him to get some dirt on them or she'll spend all her resources "inconveniencing every last one of your retirement funds."
Jax, Tig, Bobby and Chibs escort Venus to her mother's house. Gemma waits at the car.
They walk in the living room and see Joey drinking a beer watching TV with three other men. Venus's mother calls her "Vincent" and calls her a mutation. Venus tries to convince Joey to come with her calmly, but Alice intervenes. Then Alice grabs Venus's package and all hell breaks loose.
Alice's husband blasts a shotgun in Venus's direction, Jax tackles Venus to safety. Joey wonders why Grandpa has a gun. Bobby and Chibs subdue the other men, but Alice gets Joey into her minivan and drives off.
Venus hustles the Sons into their car and they take off after Alice and Joey. As they drive off, Alice's husband shouts: "You ain't ever getting your son back you lady-boy freak!"
Venus explains: "His mother Lula, she was my best friend. I was 21 and still discovering my womanhood when we both got drunk and coiled in a clumsy act of confused love. Joey was the result."
Tig looks like he loves her even more.
Lula raised him in Seattle and "Aunt Venus" sent money and visited when she could. They didn't want to confuse Joey by introducing him to his father turned auntie.
The cars are still racing down the road, with Bobby and Chibs on their bikes, when two of the men from Alice's house catch up in a car and ram Jax's SUV. Venus, in the back seat, grabs a gun from the open cooler beside her and shoots out the SUV's back window in retaliation, blasting into the following car's windshield. It veers and crashes, but gets away.
Jax pulls over, angry at Venus. She apologizes, saying her "Vincent" rage became uncorked. Jax delicately suggests she recork Vincent. The plate fell off the getaway car. Jax suggests they call Barasky to have it traced in the hopes of finding where they took Joey.
At the hospital, Margaret tells Tara it's time for something that Tara obviously isn't looking forward to. Margaret tells Wendy: "It's time for that meeting."
Unser gives Tara the restraining order and asks who it's for. Tara tells him only that it'll all make sense soon.
Barasky meets up with Jax outside the address -- a children's portrait studio.
Chibs, Tig, Jax and Barasky bust in the door and find Joey drugged and passed out on the couch. When Alice comes back, Venus grabs a gun and holds it on her. Jax gently gets her to turn it over.
They run the two guys off, but Alice stays to hurl insults at Venus, calling her a "freak of the fringe."
Alice absolutely lays into Venus and her words cut deeply into Jax as well as she talks about fathers and sons. "When he finds out what you are, he's going to grow up hating you. Hating your lies, hating the life you forced him into and hating himself. This boy's going to blow his brains out....because of you, the awful thing that turned out to be his father."She doesn't get any further than that because Jax blows her brains out.
Later, Barasky and Jax watch two seconds of taped video that nauseatingly confirms everything Venus said about child porn and puts the crib and kids things in the studio in a frightening, sickening light.Barasky tells Jax he'll track down the two other guys and make sure they don't come back. "You did this hood a service," he tells Jax. He offers to deal with dead Alice, "my treat."
Jax tells Venus she should tell Joey the truth."I'm just not ready to lose him yet," she says.
Jax suggests Joey would be proud of her, but Vanus worries about her family history of hate being passed down.
Bobby brings Gemma back to TM, where Wendy is waiting. She angrily tells Gemma that Tara thinks her commitment to the boys is wavering, so she picked Margaret to be the boys' guardian instead. She tells Gemma that Tara is plotting something with Ally and she thinks she's going to divorce Jax and keep them away from the boys.
Gemma goes off to the hospital in a rage. She finds Tara and Margaret in the cafeteria and starts making a scene. Tara walks off, refusing to let her have that conversation in front of everyone. When Margaret tries to follow, Gemma tosses her against a vending machine in a chokehold. Unser has to pull her off.
Tara races to her office, where she stuffs the bag of blood she drew earlier into her underwear and braces herself for what's about to come.
Gemma storms through the door and starts yelling. Tara yells back, telling her that the boys will not be raised in Charming and "they will not know their angry and psychotic grandmother!"Gemma slaps her, hard.Tara hits her back hard, throwing her against the wall. She braces herself for a counter punch, but it doesn't come.
Gemma smooths herself out and stays where she is. "You're lucky you're pregnant," Gemma says.
Tara quickly calculates then tosses her midsection against her desk to rupture the bag of blood in her underwear. Gemma watches with horror as blood starts to pour from between Tara's legs.
Unser, Wendy and Margaret all come in as Tara screams about her baby. Gemma can't believe what's happening. Tara plays it out, crying that Gemma attacked her. Wendy watches, not feeling good about her role in what's unfolding.
Unser can't believe what he's seeing either. Margaret calls for security, saying they all saw Gemma attack Tara. They take a shocked Gemma away.
Later, Jax rushes to Tara's side.
Gemma is taken into police custody. She's quiet and still, still reeling.
Unser joins Wendy in the chapel.
A doctor examines Tara.
Venus puts Joey on a bus to Seattle, with Tig as her escort. He cuddles up to her as the bus pulls away.
Roosevelt briefs Jax on things with Gemma, who gets fingerprinted at the station.
Nero lies in his prison bunk, trying to block out the sounds of two men having sex below.
Jax comforts Tara. "I lost our baby girl," she says.Tara tells him she can't be around Gemma anymore. Tara shows him her bruise. "She kicked me in the stomach, what kind of sick person does that? She thinks I'm trying to take the boys away from her. She's so violent, I don't even tell you half the things that happen. I don't ever want her near our children again. Promise me," she says.He does.
Ally joins them. Jax signs the paperwork barring Gemma from his children.
Roosevelt leaves Gemma in jail, not sure what to make of everything.
Gemma sits in the cell, stunned and beaten, for the moment.

Salvage
Jax and Chibs walk through the burned...
more
Jax and Chibs walk through the burned out shell of the clubhouse following the Irish bombing. It's a charred husk. Jax sees his failure everywhere."I did this," he says. Chibs doesn't disagree, but he finds the gavel and hands it to Jax. "We're going to fix this, brother. You hear me?"
With Sheriff Roosevelt on the scene, Jax tells him he can't tell him who's responsible, but it's because they're trying to end a relationship. Roosevelt explains that the Sons aren't welcomed by Charming like they used to be, given how much havoc they bring.
Jax tries to lay it out for Roosevelt, telling him plainly and honestly that he's trying to get the club back on a good path, but if Roosevelt looks into them right now about the school shooting, it's not going to help either of them.Chibs assures Roosevelt they're going to put things right.
"I can tell you guys really believe that, not sure I do," Roosevelt says. He heads back to the station where Gemma is making a ruckus about Nero being locked up.
At the station, Gemma pitches a fit when the deputies won't let her see him. She knocks one over and ends up in the holding cell with Nero.
Even though no one was hurt in the bombing, she knows it probably has Nero thinking of putting distance between him and the club. She wants to be with him, but doesn't think she can leave her family and the club. She wants both.At the moment, he's more worried about the murder charges against him.
The Sons gather at Gemma's place.
Jax checks on Tara and the boys in his old room. Abel wouldn't sleep or eat. Jax tells her they're going to Chester to sit down with the Northwest charter and explain what happened.Tara tells him she's going to go get an ultrasound as a precaution.
Jax gets a call from Ireland. He puts it on speaker phone."The council is prepared to offer you terms for your betrayal," Galen says, threatening to bomb the other charters if they don't go along.Clay will be handling distribution, though Galen won't say how. SAMCRO has to ensure their buyers transfer to Clay, but they don't get a cut. "You wanted out, that includes profit as well," Galen says.
Jax looks around his table and gets nods of approval from everyone. He tells the Kings he agrees, but then tells them Connor and their other guys are still alive. The Kings are surprised."I told you I didn't want a war," Jax says.
Chibs suggests they keep Connor a few more days to make sure the Kings' peace offer is real. Everyone agrees.
Gemma gets dropped off back at her house. Jax asks her to tell Clay what happened and tell him to move forward, no privacy needed so no conjugal. (He doesn't know what happened at the last one.)
The Sons ride out. Tara tells Gemma she's going to the hospital to work on her case with Lowen. Unser picks her up (and references his "Nazi owie" to Abel).
At the sheriff's station, Roosevelt catches Tyne Patterson up on the fact the IRA bombed the Sons. He also tells her he thinks Nero was set up for the escort's murder, but she brushes him off, saying she's going to follow the hard (planted) evidence.
At the hospital, Unser checks on Tara, who is shell-shocked. "I don't know what's more frightening: the violence getting worse or my ability to simply take it in stride. I see how living this way can make you....""Gemma?" he offers. He offers his help again.
She tells him she's filing for divorce but seeking full custody. When he asks who's taking the boys if she goes away to prison, Wendy walks up. Tara suggests Wendy check on Gemma to build the trust.
"You're spinning a lot of plates there sweetheart," Unser observes to Tara.
On the road outside Eden, two police on motorcycles pull over the Sons on bikes. Rat, with the "hardware" in a cooler on the seat next to him in the van, keeps going.
Jax is polite to the cops, who inform them "gang colors" aren't allowed in city limits. Jax tries to diffuse the situation, but the cops are intent on hassling them and call in for a flatbed to impound the bikes and check all the parts to make sure they're not stolen. Juice gives the cops lip, calling one a coward, to the annoyance of Jax.
When the cops get called elsewhere, they handcuff Juice to his bike and shoot out his tires. Juice gets angry and elbows one. Happy reacts, disarming the other, all while Jax shouts at them to stop.
Jax tells them they know a scam when they see one.
"That's right we do, I've see 'Smokey and the Bandit' a thousand times. Love that movie," Tig says.
The Sons hop on their bikes and ride off when the patrol SUV pulls up. The two motorcycle cops hop in the SUV and follow the Sons, catching up quickly. Juice gets in front of the SUV and slows down.
Rat, who had been waiting up the road, pulls up alongside Juice and urges him to jump from his moving bike into the van.Juice does, and it works. The bike lays down in the road in front of the police SUV, which flies off the road and flips. (The cops are fine.)
They all cheer for crazy Juice.
Later, they pull in to Three Point Lodge and after checking in, they confirm there are no warrants or anything out on them, which means the cops were dirty, probably part of the stolen bike parts pipeline.
Jerry greets them and Jax sees that Bobby is there. Bobby asks to talk to him after.
Gemma goes to visit Clay. She tells him the Irish blew up the clubhouse, but he should move forward with their offer.
Gemma asks Clay if he has a sense how far Lee Toric would have gone. She wonders if he set up Nero to get at the club.Clay is incredulous she's asking for help with her boyfriend.Seeing as how she was forced to have sex with him yesterday, she figures Clay owes her.
He tells her Toric was completely warped, and about the things he did and had done to Otto.
Jax sits at the head of the big table, acknowledging that their actions affect all the clubs. He brings up his father, saying his fear and doubt made him vulnerable. He addresses his brothers:"I'm here to tell you I'm not following that path, the choices I make are not because I'm afraid or because I have any doubts about the club. I watched my best friend get his head caved in to protect what we have here. We've all watched brothers die in the service of this club. There's two things you can do when that happens: you can run from the pain, bail; or you can allow it to burn in to your heart, to leave its mark, a constant reminder of the love that brought us all here. Sons of Anarchy is at a crossroads. Our clubhouse blowing up last night, that's a sign of the times, the end result of a bloody relationship with the IRA."He tells them he wants them out of guns. He's expanding Diosa and rebooting Cara Cara in a warehouse down by the docks. He tells them they have a deal with the Irish to keep the peace, but they take a financial hit. But he says the club has no future in guns, they've had 20 deaths in the last two years, all tied to guns. He offers Redwood's help to any charter that wants to move in a legitimate direction. He gets a round of table pounding in approval.
Gemma barges in to Roosevelt's office at the station and finds Patterson in it on the phone. Roosevelt introduces them and gives Gemma the floor.
She tells them what Toric was having done to Otto and that Nero was with her all night when the escort was killed, then he went to church in the morning."I know you want to find the devil who put the gun in that boy's hand, but it wasn't Nero," Gemma says.
"Then who was it?" Patterson asks. Gemma leaves.
Roosevelt suggests that if anyone finds out what Toric did, given that he was on Patterson's payroll, it might not look good. She suggests they check his hotel.
Roosevelt and his deputy head to Toric's room, which is untouched. It smells like bleach. They find a semi-automatic weapon under his bed, bottles of pills on his nightstand and a gun with a silencer in a drawer. Roosevelt finds his drugs and the bleach spot on the carpet where Erin bled out, plus two bullet holes in the floor.
Patterson still isn't willing to let Nero go until the DNA from Toric's room is back, she wants Nero charged with murder. Roosevelt is annoyed.
Back at the lodge, Jax checks in with Juice, assuring him he has nothing to prove. Juice isn't sure Chibs agrees.
Tara calls Jax and tells him the ultrasound was fine. Ally Lowen arrives and tells Tara that Patterson is coming to offer her a deal.
Bobby talks to Jax, who's expecting his Nomad transfer papers. Instead, they're transfer papers for Quinn, Montez and West to join Charming. Hopper got spooked by the explosion, but Bobby hand-picked these guys because they're smart, loyal and family men. He says he resigned as VP because he didn't know how to help Jax that way, but he could help by rebuilding the club.
At the hospital, Patterson makes a pitch to Tara to turn in Jax on gun running in exchange for full immunity.
Tara tells Lowen she doesn't need to think about it.
Gemma stops by Diosa. Lyla tells Gemma there's someone waiting to talk to Nero."One of Nero's girls?" Gemma asks."Yes and no," Lyla says.
Gemma goes to see who it is -- it's Venus Van Damme (Walton Goggins), the transgender escort who helped the Sons previously. She has a black eye. "I knew Nero had himself a new lady, I just didn't realize she was so substantial," Venus coos. She explains that her mother Alice was one of Nero's early girls. Nero took pre-Venus in when his mom was locked up when he was 15. Nero was his "guardian angel." She's come to him again for help."I'm afraid I ran smack into a low-hanging branch on my family tree," she explains. Gemma assures her she's safe there.
Jax, the Sons and the three new recruits report to a salvage yard in Eden. Jax and Happy take off their cuts and ring the bell, luring the guy over with a ward of cash. When Jax says an Eden cop sent him there, the guy asks what kind of car it is, confirming any doubt the cops are in on a chop shop ring.
The Sons go in to collect Juice's destroyed bike. They find brand new Harleys in the garage. They call the Eden cops.
In the hospital, Patterson takes off her wig, lets down her braids and tells herself it's time to go "hood."She finds Tara and tells her she's moving up the trial date and will be prosecuting Tara's case herself.
The Eden cops come to the garage. Jax explains they took detailed photos of the bikes, just in case. Juice picks out the bike he wants. Jax tells the cops he wants to be sure nothing that happened today comes back on the club. He also asks for an apology. When one is not forthcoming, he decks one of the cops.
The guys soak up the "sorry for my behavior today" from both of them."It's good to be back," laughs Bobby.

The Mad King
Jax and Happy stake out an Irish...
more
Jax and Happy stake out an Irish hangout, Tig and Juice sit outside another. Chibs and Rat also camp out.Back at the clubhouse, everyone hunkers down for safety, bunking on the couches.
At county, Clay is brought to his new cell with his cell mate. He's black, but doesn't seem to have a problem with Clay.
Nero also arms himself at Diosa.
Eli Roosevelt looks over the crime scene photos of Lee Toric's death at the hands of Otto in prison.
Tig checks in with Jax, they don't see anything at their location. Jax waits for something to happen, staying up all night watching.
At TM, Chuckie waits on all the girls hiding out. He tells her they're low on soda and beer. Gemma can see he's upset and reminds him that Otto loved him, he wouldn't be there if he didn't.
Jax and Happy finally see a van pull up outside their location. They grab the driver after the other man goes inside. A honk brings him out and Jax chases him into the warehouse, beating the shotgun out of his hands. He sees the suitcase the man was going for. He thinks it belongs to Galen.
The man claims to just be a courier, with no intel on Galen or Connor, but he changes his tune after Jax drives a screw driver through his hand. Galen left the country yesterday, but they're picking up Connor later. He writes down the address for Jax.
They're picking up Connor at a beverage supply house at 2 p.m.Jax is about to leave to deal with Diosa stuff when Juice asks him who's watching Tara.
San Joaquin DA Tyne Patterson (CCH Pounder) pays Roosevelt a visit at his station, asking for an update on the murder of Erin Byrne. She immediately asks about Nero and the fire at the white supremacist's compound, where a stash of KG9s was found.
Patterson wants to use Tara to get information on the club, even after Roosevelt says she's not the bad guy. She orders him to use Nero to get info on the club. He's not happy about it.
Nero and Jax meet at TM. Tara tells Jax that Gemma scares her because she still thinks Tara's trying to take the boys away. She tells him she's going to meet with Lowen at the hospital and he tells her to take Rat with her for protection.
Nero and Jax head out, with Roosevelt on their tail. Nero asks Jax about the trouble with the Irish, even though he's said he doesn't want anything to do with that side of the Sons' business. He thinks he and Jax are both responsible for getting the gun that was used in the school shooting into the hands of the kid. He just wants to know what's going on."You don't have to give me no details, just tell me when to duck," Nero says.
Jax can tell he's wary and asks him to have patience, even though he says things with the Irish might get worse before they get better. Jax sees their involvement with Nero and Diosa as the way out of gun running. Jax doesn't think Erin's death has anything to do with the Irish; they would have hit closer to home.
They pull up to Collette's house, which is undergoing an inspection. Roosevelt is waiting outside when a black BMW pulls up. It's Charlie Barasky. He asks Roosevelt what he's doing and when Eli won't talk Barasky offers to call his friend with the local PD to "help."
Inside, Nero and Jax catch Barasky up to speed on Erin's death and assume that's why Roosevelt is tailing them. Nero thinks it's his problem to solve because they're looking at him because of his criminal past. They assure Barasky it won't be an issue.
Jax has to leave when Tig pulls up. Nero invites Barasky to check out Diosa later.
Back at TM, Unser asks Tara if she's working on an "exit strategy." He can tell Tara didn't want Gemma to know about her meeting with Lowen. "Do you need my help?" he asks, but says he'd need to know all the facts.
The Sons pull up to the distribution warehouse to pick up Connor. He's walking toward their van when he stops and gets suspicious and takes off running. His guys start firing. Connor runs away but Happy comes around a corner in a van and runs him down. Connor dives through a window and into a warehouse. The Sons follow, racing through the warehouse until finally Jax drives an SUV through the warehouse and into crates of booze, which come crashing down on top of Connor.
Chibs surveys the scene. "Another fine Irishman, brought down by the bottle," he concludes. The Sons get Connor -- alive.
One Irish gets away but another is dead. The Sons find their stolen guns in the back. Jax decides to leave the dead guy and the guns, as a kind of peace offering for Galen's guys. They plan to take Connor to the Rez. Jax wants people guarding TM, but won't take Tig's suggestion to call Bobby. Chibs is annoyed.
In county, the prison library cart guy, who is Irish, brings Clay a copy of "The Mad King," with a note inside.
Back on the reservation, Jax asks Connor how to call the Irish Kings to make peace. He tells Connor he intends to let him go.
Jax reaches Brendan Roark and two other Kings in Belfast, trying to make peace. Jax explains to them the deal he offered to Galen but that he needed more time to make it work. He tells them Galen and Clay had deals outside of their organizations going back decades and Galen sabotaged things with Jax to protect that history with Clay.
Jax offers them August Marks as a new partner, saying he'll triple their business. He says Clay's days in Stockton are numbered.
When the Kings hang up to consider Jax's deal, we see that Galen was sitting at the table with them listening in.
Galen refutes everything Jax said, insists that any deal he made helped them and says that Clay is still the key to distribution in Northern California. He has reached out and things with Clay will be set by the end of the day. None of them like the idea of working with a black gang.
"Our history with the Sons of Anarchy has come to an end. (Jax) gets what he wants -- out of guns, and ties severed," Galen says.
Wendy sees Gemma coming to see her at work and ducks into her office to cover up her non-existent neck bruises. Unser is with her but goes to wait in the car. Gemma tells her about the lockdown because of the Irish. Gemma thinks it'll send Tara's exit strategy into high gear.
Gemma wants Wendy to bring her a copy of Tara's will for her to show to Jax. She wants proof. Gemma gives Wendy some baby pictures of Abel, which she both appreciates and is suspicious of.Gemma tells Wendy she just wants the family drama to end and she liked Jax with her. Wendy is seriously torn over what she's up to with Tara.
Jax comes back to TM to hear Rogue River is on the way. Clay's lawyer calls to let them know Clay has a conjugal visit scheduled with Gemma -- the trailers aren't wired, so they figure he must want to tell the club something.
Nero drops in the station to see Roosevelt. He tells Nero the DA knows SAMCRO was involved in the school shooting. Nero lets him know he doesn't appreciate being followed. Roosevelt expects the DNA from his truck back in a few hours, after which he'll either charge Nero or leave him alone.
Tara meets with Ally Lowen in her office at the hospital. The lawyer explains why Lee Toric being dead hurts their case -- it looks like a hit because Lee was looking into the club, which hurts the argument that Otto killing Lee's sister was Otto acting alone and not something Tara helped facilitate.Suddenly, Wendy blows by Rat in the hallway and busts in to talk to Tara. She's freaking out about Gemma.
Tara tells Wendy to look big picture, getting Thomas and Abel away from the club. Tara knows she's going to jail and she needs Wendy to take care of her son, and Wendy's. Tara agrees to let Wendy spend time with Abel soon.
Gemma bribes a guard for two minutes in a conjugal trailer with Clay. He tells her the Irish reached out to him. She tells him about Galen killing V-Lin and Phil. He tells her about Jax trying to shift distribution to August Marks to get SAMCRO out of guns, which is news to her. Galen wants Clay to run the distribution, they'll bust him out on the way to his hearing in two weeks and he'll run the whole thing from Northern Ireland. It's not good news for the club."Ask Jax what he wants me to do," Clay says.
Gemma knocks on the door to get let out, but two guards come in and tell them it's a conjugal visit for a reason. Either Clay has sex with Gemma while they watch or the guard will. They beat Clay until Gemma tells them to stop and agrees to do what they want.
They settle in to watch. Clay apologizes to Gemma but they have no choice but to go through with it.
After, Clay wants to kill both guards, but Gemma says Jax needs him alive right now.
As the guard escorts her out, he tells her if she talks, she dies. She doesn't say a word to Chibs.
Charlie Barasky chews out Nero and Jax for all the heat they're bringing with Patterson and the gun investigation. Jax promises if the case against them heats up, they'll pull out of Stockton.
Gemma comes in and waits at the bar, smoking a cigarette to cleanse herself. She sees Collette say good-bye to Jax.
Gemma has fully briefed Chibs, who relays Clay's conversation to Jax, but starts by throwing him around and asking him if he's crazy for trying to offer August Marks up as a partner to the genetically racist Irish Kings. Jax immediately grasps how bad the Irish offer to Clay is for the club.Chibs is angry Jax made another executive decision on his own, and says he could have warned Jax how deep the Irish hatred of black people runs.
"Do you trust me, Jaxy? Do you trust any of us? 'Cause it's not just your club," Chibs says."It might not be anyone's club for much longer," Jax says.
"Don't give up Clay, he may be our only way into them," Chibs advises as Jax dials Ireland.
The Irish tell Jax to use a burner from the clubhouse and have a full table ready to vote on their terms in two hours. Chibs is suspicious.
At Diosa, Nero can tell something is off about Gemma, but she says she's just tired. Then she says she has to tell him something. "I don't want to keep things from you," she says.
Roosevelt gets the DNA results from Nero's truck and gets ready to go get him.
Back at TM, Jax waits at the table for the Irish call. Chibs checks in and tells him he's there for him.In the clubhouse, lockdown is starting to look like a kegger.
Tara is with Abel and Thomas in Jax's old room, but leaves with Thomas when Abel falls asleep.
Nero arrives with Gemma, angry. "You going to be ok with this?" she asks."I'm trying," he says. She asks him to promise not to take it to Jax.
Roosevelt arrives and Unser goes out to check what he wants.
It's two minutes until the Irish call at 8 p.m.
Jax sees a pen with shamrocks on it and asks Chuckie where it came from -- the delivery guy who brought the beer left it a few hours ago. He assumed Gemma ordered the beer.
Chibs and Jax both realize what's happening and shout to clear the clubhouse.
Jax runs to get a sleeping Abel from the back bedroom. He's running out the door with Chibs on his heels when all of TM blows. Everyone hunkers down outside as the explosion levels the clubhouse. Jax has Abel, Tara has Thomas, it seems like everyone made it out. Safe, for now.

Unser wakes up aching in his trailer...
more
Unser wakes up aching in his trailer and goes for a joint. He opens his door to step out and three masked white, tattooed thugs attack him, yanking him down to the ground and beating him. One takes out a knife.
Jax gets a knock on his door in the morning. Hes surprised to see a still-alive Tig.Tig says August was looking for Jax to talk to him about Clay in lock-up and wants to meet with him. Tig tells Jax, its the weirdest thing, the prospects never showed with the truck at the porn warehouse. Jax pretends he forgot to tell them.Tig asks if theyre good and Jax says yes.
Sheriff Roosevelt and his deputy go to Diosa to follow up on the death of Erin Byrne, the prostitute Lee Toric killed. They have a warrant to search Neros truck based on the 911 call about the body. They take him in, although hes not under arrest yet.
Roosevelt sees Toric outside, grinning ear to ear. He thinks hes another eager customer. Toric says: I just like to watch.
Jax meets with August, who tells him he passed his loyalty test by turning over Tig. Clay is now under Augusts protection in county, but the white power gang saw him kill one of their top guys and it could have consequences on the outside.
Seeing a business angle, August asks about taking over the Sons gun running with the Irish. If Jax arranges it, August will consider Tigs debt paid.
At TM, Gemma arrives to an empty lot. She sees Unsers trailer door open but he doesnt come when she calls. Chuckie pulls up on his scooter and Gemma goes in the garage.
Gemma finds Unser strung up in the trashed garage, alive, but battered and with a swastika carved into his chest. She yells at Chuckie to call Jax.
Jax arrives to see Tara stitching Unser up. He tells him the attackers didnt seem too organized. Were going to find who did this, Jax tells him.And then what? Unser says, sounding resigned.
Les Packer (Robert Patrick) from the southern California SanDino club shows up to tell Jax in person that their charter voted down taking over the Sons gun running business, which he knows presents a big problem for Jax.
Chuckie gives Jax word about Erin, the Diosa girls death.
Unser asks Gemma what would have happened if hed had the kids with him when he was attacked. She says theyre her concern and are my kids, which seriously rubs Tara the wrong way.
Wendy calls Gemma to tell her Ally Lowen, Taras lawyer, just called with new guardianship papers. Gemma tries to figure out what Tara is up to.
Around the table, they discuss what to do about their white power problem. They decide to reach out to former Aryan leader Ernest Darby, who is out now and married to a Mexican woman, to find out who attacked Unser. When the subject of the surplus KG 9s comes up, Jax makes Les (Robert Patrick) tell the table personally that his charter wont be helping SAMCRO out.
When church is over, Chibs asks to talk to Jax alone. He thinks Jax deciding to get them out of guns wasnt his call to make alone. Jax points out theyre under attack on all sides and down to only six members, so if he has to make decisions on the fly, he will.Chibs tells him he sounds like Clay.Everything I do in this club is for this club. Im not Clay, I never will be, Jax says.
Lee Toric brings the DA Tyne Patterson the file on the dead Diosa girl. He says he went to Diosa to talk to her and she seemed willing to cooperate before she ended up dead. He suggests Sheriff Roosevelt might be on the clubs dime. Patterson brushes him off and tells him to focus on getting Clay to sign the witness agreement.
Lee tells her hes having trouble getting Clay to sign their agreement. If he doesnt get it done by the end of the day, shes taking his badge away.
Nero offers his alibi to Roosevelt for the murder of the Diosa girl. He was with Gemma all night and made an early mass. He says he had nothing to do with her death and doesnt know who would.
They differ over the merit of Neros current line of work.
Roosevelt asks him to wait while the crime scene techs go over his truck. Nero mentions Lee Toric dropping by Diosa last night and roughing up two of his guys over questions where wrong answers get your teeth smashed in.Roosevelt says Toric isnt working on his investigation.Maybe someone should tell him that, Nero says.
Wendy meets with Gemma and tells her Tara knows that she came to Gemma for help. She says Tara has been scaring her lately and is hyper-focused on getting her boys out of Charming and knows Gemma is her biggest obstacle.
Lyla drops by and tells Gemma about Nero being taken in for Erins death.
Jax and the whole crew ride up on Ernest Darby to ask who might be being Unsers attack. He mentions a former associate named Eddie Gerber who just got out of Chino. He has six acres on the corner of Oswalds land.
Jax tells Tig and Rat to go by Gerbers posing as an interested father and son. Jax strongly asks Ernest to come with them to show them Gerbers hangout.
Before they leave, Jax tells Tig to play it safe with the white power guys.
Darby takes Tig, Rat and Juice to the edge of Gerbers property. There are dozens of wood cutouts of people, some wearing Afro wigs, that have been used for target practice.
Rat says he just got out of Stockton and Tig mentions watching black men burn his daughter alive recently to sell their Aryan bona fides.Eddie Gerber is ready to talk about their cause when some of his guys pull up with Darby and Juice, who they saw waiting beyond the gate.
Rat, thinking quickly, grabs Gerber by the neck and puts a gun to his head. They grab him as a hostage and pile into the truck and drive off. Gerber promises Darby hell be coming after him soon and Tig kicks him out of the moving truck.
Jax, Happy and Chibs go meet with Galen and the Irish. Jax tells Galen they cant take anymore of his KG 9s. He tells Galen that San Bernadino wont take the guns, either. Galen tells Jax hes not getting out of guns, he has to double their business.Jax tells Galen that his dad wanted out of guns because he realized there was no Irish cause anymore, it was just killing. Galen swings at Jax and Jax gut punches him, but it diffuses quickly.Jax tells Galen, again, that theyre done with guns for the time being.
As they walk away, Chibs warns Jax he just ripped off a very old scab.
At the sheriffs station, Gemma immediately confronts Roosevelt, telling him Nero has been with her. He points out Neros the second guy in two weeks whos been dependent on her for an alibi. This ones not a killer, she says. He would never hurt a woman.
Roosevelt gets the results, with hair, clothing and blood found essentially all over in the truck. Roosevelt looks at Nero laughing with Gemma and asks his deputy if Nero looks like a man who knows his truck is covered in evidence. He thinks theres too much of it. He tells the deputy to find out all he can on Lee Toric.
Meanwhile, Toric drops by Clay to urge him to sign the affidavit, stepping on his arthritic fingers to make his point. He tells Clay hes sending him to the infirmary to see someone.
Back at Darbys place, Jax has half his guys stick around to protect him. Filthy Phil calls Jax from the warehouse and tells him Galen and the Irish are there with the guns. They never do the hand offs at the warehouse.Jax rides out.
After Phil gets off the phone with Jax, Galen pulls his gun and blows his brains out, and that of another prospect, V-Lin. He finishes it off with get the saw.Jax and the guys arrive to find Phil and V-Lin in pieces, with their severed hands laying on their cuts.
Roosevelt lets Nero go home, even though he has more than enough to hold him. He asks Nero if he can keep the truck for awhile and tells Gemma he needs to talk to Jax.
Back at the warehouse, they find the Irish have only left the KG 9s, making their point clear. Jax tells his guys to spread the word to the other charters, including Belfast, to go on lockdown. He asks Tig to take him back to Gerbers to settle the Nazi score.Chibs suggests they take a breather, but Jax is having none of it. He mocks him, saying: Why dont you take a vote? Ill proxy Phil he says yes.
Gemma drives a subdued Nero home. He wants some distance from the club because he thinks its getting him dragged into heavier stuff than he wants to be part of.I hope it doesnt come to this, but if I have to cut ties, I want you with me, he says.I love you, Gemma.I love you, too, she says.
Toric takes Clay to see Otto, who is strapped to a gurney and looks like the hell hes been put through. The side you cant see looks worse, Lee says.
Clay goes to Ottos bedside and leans in to hug him, slipping the shiv under his leg as he does.No more, brother, Clay says.Otto nods.
Nero and Gemma meet up with Jax back at TM. Jax says theyre dealing with routine stuff.
When Nero leaves, Gemma asks Jax whats really going on. He tells her about the Irish and the two dead members.
Lee comes back to Clays cell, with the threat of Ottos testimony against him, to get him to sign the affidavit.Tomorrow morning, the gentlemen who have been visiting Otto will be paying you a visit, Lee tells him.
Wendy, Tara and Ally meet at the hospital. Wendy gives Ally reams of recollections of Jax being violent and tells Tara that shes feeding Gemma all the info Tara told her to. When Thomas starts crying, Unser hears from the hallway and comes in.
Tara worries that he might tell Jax she was meeting with a lawyer, but when Gemma comes to pick him up, he helps divert Gemma way from Taras office, and the lawyer.
Gemma offers to take the boys home so Tara can take care of Wayne.
When Gemma leaves, Unser offers to wait in the hall until Taras done. Doc, at some point Im going to ask a few questions, he says.
The entire club plus the two San Dino members, rides up to Gerbers white power ranch, armed with semi-automatic weapons. When the five guys come out, the Sons mow them down with bullets. As the gun powder clears, Jax tells his guys to stage it to look like an internal beef and stash all the KG9s in the back and then burn the whole thing down.
Lee comes back to see Otto in the infirmary.I know how much pain Ive caused you. Do you want it to stop? Lee asks.Otto nods. Lee tells Otto that Clay has betrayed the club and since hes not a member, Otto wouldnt be ratting out the MC. He asks for anything he can use against Clay, promising to make the time Otto has left very comfortable.
Otto takes his pad of paper and pen and motions to have his hand freed so he can write. Lee uncuffs him and puts his glasses on as Otto scratches on the pad. Lee thinks he finally has what he needs to get the club, but instead Otto has written something foul about Lees sister.
Lee attacks him, and with Lee in close, Otto pulls out the shiv from Clay and stabs Lee repeatedly. As he cradles a dying Lee in his arms, Lee mutters: Wow, I didnt even see that coming.
Back at TM, Chibs reports to Jax that theyve warned Belfast and are off to find some known IRA addresses now. Chibs seethes with anger as he leaves.
(Over the closing music montage.)At the jail, Otto holds the shiv to Lees neck as the guards come and tell him to drop it. Instead, he rakes it across Lees neck, killing him. The guards finally, mercifully, kill Otto.
The club burns the bodies of Phil and V-Lin, along with their cuts.
Gemma watches over Nero as he tucks her grandsons in to bed.
Tyne Patterson comes to look at the body of Lee Toric as its put in a body bag at the hospital. She surveys the bloody scene, disturbed and disgusted.
Jax leaves the guys to bury the burning bodies of the latest casualties in the club.

more
Jax writes in his journal holding his son Thomas as the DA Tyne Patterson holds a news conference discussing the disturbing content of the journal left by Matthew, the school shooter. He had been referred for counseling, but they don't know if he ever got it.
She talks about the gun being illegal as Gemma waits for Nero to go to confession. Lee Toric lies in bed with the Diosa prostitute. Bobby rides to Reno in search of others to join him as a Nomad.
After the press conference, Patterson asks for an update and learns they haven't been able to find Matthew's mother or her boyfriend Arcadio anywhere.
After confession, Nero explains it makes him feel better. "I guess I've been doing it for so long, I'm afraid of how bad it gets if I stop," he says."You're a good man," Gemma says.
With the prostitute in the shower, Lee Toric panics when he sees Tyne Patterson pull up outside his motel room. She comes up behind him and startles him and he wheels around and accidentally shoots her right in the stomach. She starts to freak out, he apologizes profusely, but worries about Patterson approaching. He tells the bleeding prostitute she'll be fine, then lays her on the floor, puts a pillow over her head and shoots her brains out, apologizing the whole time.
He gets dressed and meets Patterson outside. She wonders about using Tara for leverage against the club, but he says she's a dead end. Patterson gives him the cooperating witness agreement for Clay to sign, then tells him to follow up on the two Biz Lat lackeys who were found in Darvity's house when she disappeared.
Jax Teller pays Eli Roosevelt a visit, wanting information about Clay. "I heard the marshal's been pulling some serious favors to keep Clay whole, and away from Pope's kill squad. He also paid a visit to Tara inside, he's the one who processed her arrest," Roosevelt says.
Jax seems to believe that Roosevelt isn't involved, even though he wants Clay dead for rigging the break-ins that led to his wife's death.
Toric leaves his hotel room, with a dead hooker in the tub and a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.
Tara brings the boys to the garage for Gemma to babysit, saying hi to Unser, while she goes to get her hand checked."That's a very worried mother," Unser says to Gemma.
Jax pays Clay a visit in county. Clay tells him he promised to give up the club in exchange for seeing Jax and Gemma. He says he's sorry and that's he's not planning on telling Toric anything. He'll go back into general population and "that'll play out like expected."
Jax addresses Toric behind the glass. "I'm sorry about your sister, I can feel how personal this is for you. But SAMCRO didn't kill her, Otto acted alone. He's not a member anymore, he's just a broken guy. More than a few blocks from sane. I don't give a s--- what you do to him, but if you try to come after my wife, try to tie her to this murder, you're going to feel how personal this is for me."
Jax leaves.
Toric sits down with Clay for a new agreement for him to sign, hoping his message to Jax was just posturing. "You are too smart to go down like this. Your club set you up for murder, your wife betrayed you. C'mon, Clay, I know how much you want to hurt them," Toric says.
Clay sits, impassive.
Toric points out the irony of Clay getting away with countless murders over three decades, and the one that gets him the death sentence is the one he didn't do.
Jax checks in with Gemma at the garage, then talks to the table. If Clay goes in to protective custody, they'll know he was lying. Jax figures Toric has already linked the gun to the Biz Lats so he warns everyone to play it straight for awhile -- not knowing that Tig killed a torture pornographer just days ago.
Chibs suggests Jax reach out to Bobby, but Jax says Bobby can get in touch if he misses him so much.
Meanwhile, in Reno, Bobby talks to two members of the Men of Mayhem about joining him as a Nomad. They're in.
Lee Toric interrogates the two Biz Lats found at Darvity's house. He has them bound and gagged. When he finds a beer in the fridge, he uses one of the men's mouths as an opener, shredding it. When the other won't talk, he repeats the process. Then he twists the top off the beer and takes a swig of it, all covered in their blood.
Wendy comes by the garage looking for Jax. When he's not there, she explains the purpose of her visit to Gemma. She was attacked after an NA meeting by a Mexican gang member named Luis, who strangled her and shoved his hands down her pants. She got away by gouging his eyes out, but he threatened to find her and rape her and she believes him. Gemma says she'll talk to Jax.
Jax and the guys meet with Barasky and Collette at Barasky's bakery to discuss how to run a legit escort service. Suddenly, a hail of bullets blasts through the windows and they all hit the floor.
Later, one of Barasky's guys has three bullets in him and someone got a partial plate of the Mercedes, it belongs to Amir Ghaneezi, the torture porn brother.
"Anything I should know?" Barasky says.Jax looks around and says he did exactly what Barasky told them to.
Jax offers Collette a ride, but Barasky big dogs him and says his guys will protect her. Jax tells Juice to stay, too, ignoring Barasky. He promises Collette he'll check in with her later.
Lee Toric checks in with Patterson, telling her the Biz Lats "couldn't say much." He wants to check up on Nero's escorts and see if any of them have something they want to trade. She makes his participation in her task force official, checking to make sure he has a gun. He thinks he has one lying around.
Barasky, Nero, Jax and the Sons ride to the dock to follow up on the Ghaneezi brothers, they have a boat there. They see three men on the boat. Barasky suggests they make it a "social call" and puts his gun away.
He and Jax put their guns aside when Amir tells them to and submit to a pat down by Amir's goon. Chibs, Happy, Tig and Nero hang back, armed.
On the boat, Amir says the bikers scared his girls -- Barasky says they settled that. Then Amir pulls out his brother's soggy jacket, saying they found it in the bay. He thinks the Sons killed him. Jax swears they didn't and Barasky backs him up, saying he was with them when they let him go (he wasn't).Amir agrees it's settled for now, they're even.
Barasky disagrees. He whips out a switch blade and slits the throat of Amir's goon, declaring that now they're even. Jax quickly follows Barasky's play and disarms Amir, though he's not happy about it. Barasky tells Amir he'll kill him if he ever sees him again.
Back on the dock, Barasky asks what happened to the brother. Jax says he told his guy (Tig) to cut him loose, but he can't swear he did. "You can't trust your crew, I can't trust you," Barasky says.Jax promises to handle it.
He goes back to Nero, Tig and Chibs and tells them Amir was just mad about being forced out and it's settled. He leaves out the dead brother and the now-dead goon.
In county, Clay is led into a private room and three black inmates are let in as the guard steps out."That didn't take long," Clay notes darkly.
He throws a punch, but is no match for the three men. One pulls a shiv. Clay tells him to make it quick.
"That's gonna be your choice," the man says.
Tara goes to pick up Abel and Thomas. Gemma asks if she talked to Wendy about the guardian thing.
Tara asks Gemma to keep a secret, then tells her she's pregnant, eight weeks. She hasn't told Jax yet.
The guys regroup at Barasky's bakery. Jax has Tig hang back, then tells him to go to the docks and pack up all the porn equipment. When Jax tells him Amir thinks they killed his brother, Tig plays dumbfounded and says that's a crazy notion. Jax checks that Tig knows where he's going.
Jax hugs him, kisses him and tells him he loves him.
In county, a not-dead Clay strolls out into the yard and asks for an intro to the head of the white gang. The black inmate who spared his life watches.
Back in his motel room, Lee tells the dead prostitute "I'm going to make all this matter." He pulls out some of her hair and cuts off a piece of her nightie.
Jax drops by Collette's place to see her. He goes upstairs and hears a familiar voice in her room. He opens the door and sees her on top of Barasky, who sees him and keeps going.
In county, the head of the white gang comes over to talk to Clay. The black gang uses the moment as an opportunity to pounce and a riot breaks out. Clay waits for an opening then goes into the melee and stabs one of the white gang members with the shiv from the black gang member.
Jax meets with August, Pope's former number two. He tells him Clay's alive, but he had to earn it, and he's dead by morning if August doesn't like how it works out.
Jax is following Pope's lead and "shedding the thing that brings us heat." Guns.
Jax explains he might need Clay to disentangle them from the Irish. August doesn't like the message letting Clay live would send. Jax tells him he's resurrecting Cara Cara, their old porn studio and August could join as a silent partner.
As for their other business (Tig), Jax gives him a piece of paper.
Bobby adds two more names to his list of potential Nomads -- the four he needs. He's hoping to have it finalized by the end of the week.
Wendy drops by Gemma's. She says it isn't a good time to talk to Jax, but gives Wendy an untraceable gun to protect herself.
In County, a battered, but still alive Clay is tossed into a cell.
Wendy leaves Gemma's as Nero pulls up. Lee Toric lurks nearby in his car with the lights off. Collette says a resigned good-bye to Barasky and calls Jax. He ignores her call.
At the porn warehouse, Tig arrives to pack up.A guard brings Clay a shiv in his cell, saying the friends of the Gs thank him.Jax sees the results of Tara's positive pregnancy test on his kitchen counter.
Lee breaks into Nero's car and plants the dead prostitute's hair and clothing.
Sheriff Roosevelt gets called to the report of the dead prostitute's body on the side of the road.
Back at her place, Wendy wipes her strangulation marks off her neck. It was make-up.
August and his guys arrive for Tig, per the paper from Jax.
Jax goes to Tara and tells her he loves her.

Gemma and Nero are interrupted in bed...
more
Gemma and Nero are interrupted in bed by a knock at her door. It's Nero's cousin Arcadio and he's super worked up. The school shooting was by Matthew, his old lady Darvity's kid. It was Arcadio's gun. Nero starts yelling in Spanish, asking how he could let the kid get near the gun. Matthew is dead, but they know the cops will be asking questions.
In country, Lee brings Clay an agreement to cooperate. Lee explains he's much more interested in retribution than justice. He offers Clay help with the bogus Pope murder charge, immunity from club charges and witness protection anywhere in the world."I want to see my wife and I want to see my son," Clay says."Why?""Because I want to hurt people, too," Clay says.He refuses to sign until it happens.
Gemma suggests to Nero that he needs to get Matthew's mom out of her cop-surrounded house, because as soon as the shock wears off, she'll want to blame someone.
Tara is released on bail with a busted hand. She gives Lowen pads filled with everything she can remember and asks if she started the other paperwork.
Jax is waiting for her, even thought she told him not to come. They don't say anything as they get on his bike and ride off.
Back home, Abel and Thomas are happy to see her. Gemma warns Jax that Nero is coming by about the shooting.
Lee Toric goes to the site of the shooting and talks with an ATF agent (C. Thomas Howell). There are four dead, including three kids. A security guard killed the 11-year-old shooter. The ATF agent points Torric to the DA. Lee recognized the gun as coming through the Sons.
At home, Jax tells Tara he didn't sign the guardianship papers, but he's meeting with the Irish to get out of the gun business today. He tells her he's expanding the Diosa business, which is trashy but not dirty.
"After Ope, I feel like if I step away now, none of that makes sense. Like what he did was for nothing," he says.
Tara's trial is in six weeks, she says maybe what he does won't matter.
Nero tells Jax about the school shooting connection and that Matthew used their KG-9. Matthew's mom is a junkie and can't be trusted not to talk, so they want to figure out how to get her out of town. They have to stay off cell phones.
Gemma gets a call from county with word Clay wants to visit them both.
Bobby meets up with Quinn and another potential Nomad.
Jax leaves to deal with shooting fallout, leaving Tara and Gemma alone. "I'm not the one who turned you in," Gemma says.
Tara knows. Gemma senses that Tara seems a little off, but she says she's fine.
At the school, Lee Torric tells DA Tyne Patterson about the Sons' gun running deal with the Biz Lats. He urges her to get involved as the only one with jurisdiction.
Nero, Jax and a few Sons come in the back way to Darvity's house. Cops are camped outside. Nero goes to get her as Arcadio is cooking up drugs in the bathroom. She wakes up screaming and the Sons try to calm her down. Nero runs to her screams and she gets to the bathroom and shoots up.She'd been clean nine months.
"Only one thing more dangerous than a rat, and that's a junkie rat," Jax says.
Nero agrees and also knows the cops will come looking at him as soon as they realize she's gone. But it has to be done.
Gemma visits Clay in prison.
"I know why you did it. When it all went down with you and Juice and gun, I got it. It was like watching the other shoe drop in slow motions," Clay says.Gemma fights off tears.
"You wanna know why I lied to you about it? Because I knew you'd set me straight and I didn't want to be straight," Clay says.
"Why am I here, Clay?"
"I just want you to know that when all of this goes down, none of it lands on you," Clay says.
Gemma snaps out of it and addresses the viewing window, and Lee Toric behind it, saying she's not sorry for telling the truth.
She runs out of the room crying and gives herself a pep talk in the bathroom mirror. "Don't let him do that," she says.
Lee is waiting for her when she comes out. She realizes he's the one protecting Clay.
Jax meets with Galen and his guy Connor Malloy. They don't believe that Clay just got sloppy when dealing with Pope. Galen knows Clay was planning to leave town and told him Jax was moving them out of the gun business. Jax admits it's true and mentions the heat from the school shooting. He tells Galen he wants out, but San Bernadino will pick up the business, with SamBel running protection.Nothing changes, just different territory, Jax promises.
Galen will take it to the Kings if they're doubling their territory -- which wasn't what Jax was offering. On top of that, he has a big shipment of KG-9s he's bringing in to capitalize on the school shooting.
Jax wants the prospects to bring the guns to the warehouse and sit on them, which upsets Chibs. Jax points out how much scrutiny the club is under, he isn't budging.
Lee comes back to Clay with his deal, but Clay still refuses to sign until he talks to Jax.
Tara packs up her things at work. Margaret the administrator comes by. She knows Oregon pulled their offer to Tara. Tara has a favor to ask -- she needs a pregnancy test.
The day ends for Clay in county with no visit from Jax.
At her house, Tara brings Lowen documents. Lowen read Tara's statement, which she says will help prove Jax is an unfit parent because of the danger of the club environment, should Tara have to go to prison. Lowen plans to wait until right before the trial to file for the divorce, but she wants to make sure the guardianship with Wendy is in place right away.
Nero sets Arcadio and Darvity up in Piney's cabin, with plans to move her out of town. With Nero out of the room, she worries that they're going to kill her. She eyes rifles and ammo on the wall.
Jax joins them at the cabin, other Sons are off getting drugs to keep Darvity "even."
Gemma shows up at the cabin to talk to Jax, she catches him up on Lee and tells him she thinks Clay made a deal.
Suddenly they hear a rifle blast from inside the cabin. Darvity gets past all the guys and outside, where Jax draws on her. But Arcadio draws on him and Jax puts his gun down. Gemma creeps around the side of her SUV with her gun drawn, but Arcardio fires in her direction and she drops her gun.
Darvity gets in the truck and screams at Arcadio to come with her. He begs her not to do it, but then starts to get in.
Nero warns him one last time, then Arcadio starts to jump in the truck. His head explodes all over the windshield after Nero fires on him.
Darvity gets out and runs. Jax tackles her and is about to shoot when Nero yells at him to stop.
In his hotel room, Lee Torric pounds his hands numb then picks up a pen and forges Clay's name on his cooperating witness statement.
Back at the cabin, they drag Arcadio's body inside and tie Darvity to the bed. Nero is upset about his cousin's death. Jax and Juice prep drugs to shoot Darvity up because she's crashing badly.
Torric brings his signed statement to DA Patterson, but she's worried about his volatile past. He makes a pitch for the case helping her career. She agrees to draft her own office's agreement for Clay to sign and Lee suggests she extend Clay's protective custody.
At the cabin, Juice shoots up Darvity as she's still tied to the bed. Then he puts a pillow over her face until she stops struggling, earning his way back into the club.
He reports back to Jax.
Lee Torric drops by Diosa and check out the available prostitutes. He sees one he likes.
After Nero has discovered Darvity's death, Jax and Juice try to sell the accidental overdose. Nero talks to Jax.
Arcadio betrayed him, so that had to happen, but he says Darvity has two other children and they don't kill people like her. Jax looks him in the eye and says he had nothing to do with Darvity's death.
"Everything I'm doing here is for you," Jax says. Nero isn't sure whether to believe him.
The next morning in county, Clay learns he's staying another night in protective custody. He tries to figure out why.
Jax comes home to Tara. Neither tells the other about their day.
Lee gives a Diosa girl his hotel name and room number, then he leaves his business card for Nero.
Bobby adds Hopper to his list of Nomads.Nero says a prayer for Arcadio as they bury him and Darvity. Jax makes love to Tara in bed and she struggles to appear like she wants to be there.

more
Jax is writing in his journal to his sons about the idea of being a man meaning taking care of people you love. "Today I will be the man my father tried to be, I will make you proud."The Sons convene at the clubhouse. They're meeting with Galen at 2:00 p.m. at the barn. Bobby tells Jax he wants to bring Clay to the table first to make him admit what he did with the Nomads."What are you doing, Bobby?" Jax asks. "My job," he answers grimly.Around the table, Clay says he wanted to be in charge again and Frankie suggested the masked attacks. Clay mentions Jax working with Pope and Tig takes note. Still, he tells Clay he hurt a lot of people."The main reason I was trying to push out Jax was because I didn't think he was ready to lead... I was wrong, he's proven to be a better leader than I ever was," Clay says.He goes to the garage to await his fate. The vote has to be unanimous for him to lose his patch. It is.Jax calls for pros and cons on "The Mayhem," bound up and dragged behind a motorcycle. Chibs isn't buying the "for the good of the club" B.S.Jax calls for the vote and starts with a "yay." Chibs, Tig (after a lot of thought), Happy (David Labrava), Phil, Juice all vote "yay." Bobby says no. Clay lives.Chibs goes to get Clay but Jax rushes in front of him and knocks Clay to the ground. Out in front of the garage, for Gemma, Chuckie and Unser and the whole club to see, Jax beats on him until Chibs pulls him off.Back inside, Jax seethes. When Bobby comes in, he accuses Bobby of making a deal with Clay behind his back. Bobby gives Jax Clay's club colors and says "You couldn't prove s---. We both know that. And there's no way you could let Clay sit at this table, me either. The s--- he's done, he needed to go away. If I didn't make this deal you would have killed him as soon as we were finished with Galen, and you would have done it behind the club's back, and it would have eroded the club," Bobby says.Bobby says he was trying to stop Jax from becoming the guy he wanted to kill. "I know you see it as betrayal. I took that risk because I love you and this club needs you. We're broken."Jax says he's been having a hard time feeling any brotherhood since Opie died. "Opie was right, the gavel corrupts. You can't sit in this chair without being a savage," Jax says.Gemma tends to Clay, who asks for a minute alone. He breaks down in tears after she walks out.At the hospital, Tara meets with lawyer Ally Lowen (Robin Weigert) who asks if they have plans for custody of the boys if something were to happen to them. They don't.At the MC, Chibs reports that Pope wants to meet about Charming Heights at noon.Lowen sits in with Tara for her deposition. Tara admits her connection to Jax and the club and Otto but says she didn't know she'd have access to him. She says she didn't know she wasn't allowed to bring Otto anything. Lowen says she brought "a desperate man something to pray with." Tara asserts that she had no idea what Otto was capable of.Jax and Chibs meet with August Marks (Billy Brown), Pope's guy. He says Charming is "promising." Jax asks how August fits in to Pope's organization. He's known Pope since he was 17. "That shows me you're loyal, and patient," Jax says.Pope looks over the plans. Jax tells him he needs 20 more keys from him for Reno to offset the gun costs. Pope is again impressed with his business savy.Jax asks him for his advice, asking if he ever goes against the advice of everyone else. Pope guesses it's about Clay."Democracy's over-rated. Revenge is never about the greater good. It's a visceral need that has to be satisfied or the strong lose focus," he says."How do I scratch that visceral itch without tearing my club apart?""You can do both, you just have to step away from the need to feel it," Pope says, telling him to focus on the result."Payback by proxy," Jax says.Pope says it's time for Tig to go. Jax wants to wrap up the deal with Lin first and promises to deliver him tomorrow. Pope warns him the severe consequences to his family of not delivering. Jax says he'll always see Tig as Clay's right-hand man, so he'll have no problems turning him over. The Sons meet with Henry Lin and Romeo and Luis for Henry to show off his big guns. Romeo is impressed. Lin says it'll take two or three months to figure out how to get the guns in regularly, contrary to the two weeks he had told Jax.Romeo places his order and Luis makes the $250K downpayment, but then they tell Jax they need another shipment from Galen in the interim.Tara meets with Wendy (Drea de Matteo). She tells her about Gemma's car accident and her job offer in Portland and the fact that she needs a guardian for the boys if anything happens to her. She put Wendy on the list to be able to visit Abel in daycare. The Sons go to meet the Irish at the barn. Galen asks where Clay is and Bobby gives him the news. Jax makes an appeal to Galen for one last shipment for the Mexicans and then they can sever ties and go back to the old Club-Irish relationship. Galen is about to agree when Romeo and Luis burst in with a large cartel crew behind them.Pope informed them Clay was out so they came to supervise. When Romeo's guys go to unload the guns, Galen shoots one cold. A gunfight breaks out, but there are more cartel than Irish and they're soon outmanned. Romeo takes the guns and tells Jax the buy is on the Club.Galen tells Jax it's on him as he leaves. "The Sons are gonna feel this on both continents," he says. After the Irish leave, Jax orders all the families locked down and the Tacoma chapter called in. He needs Gemma to make the call.Jax calls Juice, who is with Clay. "Listen closely," Jax says.Nero, back with his gangbangers, gets updates on how they're losing turf.Gemma drops by the new Diosa and interrupts. Nero walks to talk to the MC.Gemma tells Nero that Clay is out and Jax beat him up. She wants his doctor to take a look at him. He tells her the Biz Lats are under siege and the ghosts of his past are coming back. Lyla interrupts, they've been summoned to the club.Clay packs up all his MC stuff. He gives Juice his gleaming stainless .45 ACP pistol which had been presented to him by Piney. Tig comes by to notify them of the lockdown.Jax comes to the hospital and is surprised to see Wendy with Abel. He takes him back to daycare and tells Wendy to meet him outside. A tall white man follows her. She's waiting for them when there's a squeal of tires. Jax and Chibs see her purse spilled on the ground, but she's gone.Tara returns to her office and finds Otto's tormentor (Donal Logue) waiting for her. He introduces himself as Lee Toric, brother of the nurse, Pamela Toric (Karina Logue), that Otto murdered with the crucifix. He wants complete details of her murder. She tells him Pam was unconscious when he stabbed her. He asks why Otto attacked her. He knows it was the third time Tara had treated him. He asks if her husband was involved. He's a retired US Marshall (so Otto's "radar" that he was a Fed wasn't that far off). He knows she brought Otto the cross. He believes her when she says she didn't know what Otto would do with it, but that's not enough. Toric says he wanted Tara's side, because tomorrow they're talking to Otto to get his story.Tara goes to Jax at the club and tells him about Toric, and the possibility that she could be charged with conspiracy or even murder. She also tells Jax why Wendy was at the hospital. They're interrupted by Chibs saying Galen called. All of the club and their families are at the club. Galen called Clay, demanding payment for the guns. Nero overhears and says he might have a solution. Jax kicks Clay out.Nero says he can get Jax the $475,000 from the money he's been saving to buy his uncle's ranch. Nero knows he missed his chance to get out of the life.Nero says he's looking for guns and friends. They shake on it.Jax finds Gemma and tells her to sit down to talk. (We don't know about what.)As Tig and Clay go to take Galen the money, Clay tells him he knows Tig voted to kill him. "I don't feel guilty," Tig says, "You earned it.""Yeah. I did," Clay replies quietly. Tig and Clay meet with the Irish and hand over the money. They get Wendy back.Clay tells Galen that Jax wants to end the club's relationship with the Irish. Clay tells him his plan to start a separate crew running guns. He says he'll kick back the same amount Lin does to the club to keep it kosher. He also wants a ride to Belfast to lay low. He's hoping to bring Gemma. Galen tells him to meet at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.Clay tells Tig about the gun deal and invites him in.Back at TM, Wendy is livid at Jax to learn about Abel being kidnapped to Belfast. She plans to report it and her own kidnapping and come after Abel for custody.Tara knows it isn't an idle threat.Jax says there's no record of Abel ever being in Belfast. He assures Tara the Marshal looking into Otto won't be able to send her to jail. "I'm going to give you a beautiful life," he says.Jax gives Unser the Marshal's name and tells him to find out everything. Jax calls Tig on the way to taking Wendy home.He checks with Happy that they're all set up.Bobby wants to talk to Jax. "I'm sure 'the right thing' will settle in, but today, VP, if I get you alone, I'm going to tear your head off," Jax says and walks off.Gemma joins Clay. He gives her the originals of the legal documents Frankie Diamonds and the guys stole. He tells her he thought he wanted the club back, but she's the only thing he wants. He tells her about his gun deal and leaving for Ireland, knowing that Jax will kill him if he doesn't, and invites her to come. She says she'll think about it.The guys come for Clay to remove his ink.Happy gets to work crossing out Clay's "Mayhem" tattoo as the Club looks on. Jax leaves.Gemma goes to see Nero at Diosa, falling into his arms.Happy blacks out Clay's tattoos one by one, not pausing to mop up blood or bothering stay within the lines.Lee sits in his motel room next to his arsenal of guns and duffle bag of pills, calmly reading Antonin Artaud's "Watchfiends and Rack Screams."Bobby rides off.Jax meets up with Tig on the side of a road in the tow truck. Tig points out the unit Jax is looking for and gives him something, telling him it's "ready to shoot." Tig offers to stay, but Jax says no.Jax knocks on the door, it's Wendy's apartment. He checks that she's alone, then throws her against the wall. He tells her he's going to report her for babbling crazy talk about Abel being kidnapped and demand a drug test.He jabs a needle into her upper arm and delivers a sizable skin pop, She crumples to the floor as the heroin takes effect."You don't ever threaten my family again," he says.

Jax continues following Juice late at night. He watches as Juice pulls up to his house to find Sheriff's deputies waiting for him. They're taking him in for the attack at Unser's.At the garage, Gemma and Chibs catch up. She says there's probably nothing happening with Nero. Chibs thinks Clay still loves her. Bobby pulls up after talking to Jax, there to brief Chibs. Chibs thinks Gemma is a little bit lost.At home, the quiet gets to Tara so she makes noise to wake the baby up so she can pick him up and cuddle him back to sleep.Juice is brought to Roosevelt at the station. Roosevelt immediately tells Juice that Jax knows he's the rat and he has to get out of town. He explains that Jax figured it out himself and apologizes. Juice leaves without saying anything. At the club, Chibs is up to speed on Juice and the RICO charge. He thinks the club is falling apart. Jax assures Chibs he sees an end in sight. Chibs confesses he knew the leverage Roosevelt had on Juice, that his dad was black. Jax and Chibs can't believe that's what Juice wanted to protect."Maybe it's time we change a few bylaws," Jax says. They decide Juice isn't a threat, they'll watch him then bring it to the table. "Let him hang himself," Jax says.Tara wakes Jax up in the morning. She's going to try to see Otto again. Juice is in the living room playing with Abel, waiting for Jax.Juice opens right up by saying Roosevelt told him Jax knows. Jax tells him Bobby and Chibs know, too. Juice explains the deal he was offered, that the feds would only take the Sons that were actually present at the buy. He protests that he was trying to protect the club.Jax guesses that Miles caught Juice stealing the coke. "Do you want to earn your way back in? A pardon? It means you do everything I tell you to do and I make sure your betrayal never hits the table, that it stays between us," Jax says."Yes, of course," Juice says.Jax wants Clay. Juice tells him Frankie said Clay was behind everything and that the Nomads stole a safe from Clay's house but gave him back all the legal stuff. Jax wants Juice to find the documents to prove Clay is a traitor and murderer.Juice tells him Clay knows about RICO, too. "It's a simple choice, you help me bring Clay down or you lose your patch. And I think you know what killing another member gets you," Jax says. Juice agrees. The prospects wait outside the prison and follow a large inmate as he gets discharged.Tara meets with Karen Dunhill (Tara Summers), the woman from Providence Hospital in Portland, who makes her a job offer. Margaret sits in, she helped make it happen. She gives Tara a few days to think it over.At the garage, Jax orders Gemma to find out where Clay is.A nervous Jacob Hale (Jeff Kober) drops by, the vote on Charming Heights is going his way. He brought information on the development for Jax to give to an unnamed investor. Jax's other conditions: they get the contract on the Charming Heights maintenance vehicles, and subsidized housing for Lyla and Opie's kids.Tig reports on the inmate, Randy Hightower, one of the inmates who beat Opie to death. Jax doesn't tell Bobby or Chibs why he was meeting with Hale and lies about seeing Juice. At the prison, Tara goes in to see Otto. He tells her he hasn't cried the way he did with her yesterday since he was a kid. "I'll make my part of RICO go away," he says. He wants one more thing, an ornate gold and silver crucifix from his mother that he gave to LuAnne. He just wants to wear it for a few minutes, but it has to be today because his blood work will come back soon and the prison will know there's nothing wrong with him and no reason for Tara to see him.In another area of the prison, Clay goes to visit the same older guy, Lenny "The Pimp" Janowitz (Sonny Barger) who already told Jax that Otto was talking to the feds. Clay processes that Jax knew.Unser swings by Gemma in the office at her behest. He had to move his trailer, so she tells him he can park it in the garage's yard. She tells him what he already knows, that Clay is behind the Nomad attacks and Jax wants proof.Jax, Bobby, Tig, Chibs and Filthy Phil meet up with the prospects outside a bar. There are bikes parked out back, and the Sons recognize them.T.O. Cross (Michael Beach) with the Lodi Grim Bastards club is inside with his guys. He knows Hightower who just paid T.O.'s club to protect him. Plus he's T.O.'s cousin. Bobby says they'll buy the contract out and T.O. is explaining it's not that simple when Hightower (Winston James Francis) walks in and, thinking they sold him out, opens fire. He gets in his SUV and drives off. Jax stands in front of the charging car and fires, but he doesn't slow down. Chib's yanks Jax out of the way and fires some rounds after the ex-inmate. Hightower hits a Son's bike as he drives off, and they all fall over like dominos. After, T.O. explains he didn't know Hightower was involved in Opie's death. The Sons demand to know where he is, but T.O. doesn't want to turn over a relative. Jax isn't feeling reasonable but Bobby pulls everybody aside to remind them the clubs have been allies for 20 years.Jax suggests T.O. let the Sons talk to Hightower to find out who the other guys who killed Opie are. He promises they'll beat Hightower, but will let him live. T.O. agrees to let them know when he finds Hightower.Unser drops in on Roosevelt with "the last piece of the puzzle."Outside the prison, Gemma pulls up to meet Tara. She has LuAnne's crucifix from storage. Gemma digs for more information, but Tara only says she's volunteering at the prison.Clay meets alone with the Galindo cartel, Luis (Benito Martinez) and Romeo (Danny Trejo) and mentions the RICO case. Clay wants to know how they got Jax to turn around on running guns and let him live. He guesses they're with the government. "I think Jax is pushing to kill the RICO leverage you got. If that happens, I go away, and the guns go away and you go away," he says, saying Jax is going through Otto.Clay wants protection and offers to be a connection with Galen for the guns. They want the club to stay in play, minus Jax. Clay objects, but they don't give him a choice.Jax meets alone with Damon Pope (Harold Perrineau), with the information on Charming Heights, a three-phrase residential community. Pope is impressed with Jax that the mayor owes him and he's thinking beyond the street."There's only one thing standing in the way of our growing partnership," Pope says, Tig, for running down his daughter.Jax tells Pope he found out Clay was the one behind the attacks. Jax promises when he brings Clay down, Pope can have Tig. He promises it'll be soon.Pope knows they're looking for Hightower and tells Jax where to find him.The Sons head there and find T.O. and three Bastards. T.O. says Pope and the guards set up the beating and Hightower barely knew the other guys. T.O. is hesitant to let them near his cousin, but Jax gives his word they won't kill him.Hightower sees them coming and runs. But he's big and slow and Jax pulls his gun and chases him down. Hightower has a gun, but as everyone catches up, T.O. assures him the Sons just want to talk.He gives them the names Aldo Smith, Fox and Mace. He swears it's all he knows.Chibs silently checks with Jax, then pulls out his suppressed pistol and, echoing Opie's final words, "I got this," shoots Hightower through the back of the head. As T.O. protests that Jax gave his word, Jax reminds T.O. he did, too -- that he would deliver Hightower, and he didn't."Who the hell are you?" T.O. asks Jax. Bobby appears to be thinking the same thing.Back at the club, Bobby tells Jax what he did was wrong and hurts all of them. "You may be right, but you didn't see the pleasure in that animal's face when he caved in Opie's skull. We did!" Jax shouts.Chibs assures Jax he did what he had to do."Things are going to get bloody, brother. I'm not sure if Bobby's going to be able to roll with it. I need to know that I have you in my corner," Jax says.Chibs is upset Jax would even ask. "I love you, kid. Understand?" Chibs says.Juice rifles through Clay's things at his house looking for the legal documents. He finds a shiny .45 pistol in a gun case, likely the one Clay used to kill the Nomads, but has to hide it as Clay comes back. Clay tells Juice he couldn't have gotten through the past month without him. He confesses to doing some "heinous" things. He's exhausted and asks Juice to watch his back. Gemma drops by with groceries. Clay hugs Juice as he leaves. Clay goes over to Gemma and runs his hands on her back. She steels herself against his touch, but turns around and lets him kiss her hand. When he goes to kiss her, she suggests they go home.In the prison, Otto asks Tara to put the crucifix around his neck. He asks her to put it under his shirt. He asks for a minute alone to pray. When Tara leaves, he buzzes for the nurse (Karina Logue) and demands to go back to his cell. They are taking him when Tara comes back and asks what they're doing. An orderly has already freed Otto's hand and it's too late. He knocks the orderly out and bashes the nurse's face against the wall. Tara can only scream helplessly as she watches. Otto takes out the crucifix as she begs him not to hurt the nurse. "Sons live, Redwood bleeds," he says as he plunges the crucifix into the nurse's jugular over and over again. Finally, guards come and pull him off her and take Otto away, but the damage is done.Back at the garage, Jax notices Unser's mobile home has moved in. Juice tells Jax he didn't find anything at Clay's. He asks what happens to Clay when he finds the papers. "The same thing that happens to you if you don't find it," Jax says menacingly.Unser and Jax catch up quickly. "Three down, one to go," Unser says.Back home, Gemma comes out in silk pajamas and is surprised Clay is still dressed."I know how bad I hurt us, Gemma. I guess I'm just surprised I'm even back here at all," Clay says. He tells her the only good that came out of the chaos he created is that it showed him the only thing he cared about was her. He tells her he doesn't want to be there unless it's really something she wants."I can't handle losing you twice," he says and in response she kisses him.Roosevelt sits in his Jeep outside Jax's house. He doesn't understand how Juice is still untouched. Jax tells Roosevelt he'll deal with Juice. Roosevelt asks what's going to happen to Clay. "I'm not going to let this one end up dead in the back of a Ford," Roosevelt says. "I'm open to suggestions," Jax says.Jax comes home to find Tara smoking a joint at the table. She tells him Otto reversed his RICO statement by killing a nurse -- the Feds will have to throw out his testimony. She tells him she brought him the crucifix."He had it all planned, Jax. He saved the MC, but he needed to hurt you," she says. "He made me an accessory to murder.""Babe, I'm not going to let that happen. We're going to get through this like we do everything else," he says."That's what scares me the most," she says.

Jax wakes up with Abel in the...
more
Jax wakes up with Abel in the hospital. Abel is feeling well enough to want milk and cookies. In the morning at Diosa, Gemma doesn't tell Nero what Jax wanted. He's not concerned with Jax telling him not to see her. Nero invites Gemma to meet his son Lucius later. Clay meets with Jimmy Cacuzza (Jeff Wincott) from the Nomads, looking for Frankie Diamonds. They guess he's in Reno or Tahoe. Margaret tells Tara the CDC called for her about the Stockton prison. She also changed her insurance status to married to cover Jax and the kids. Later, Tara tells Jax that Stockton said their primary doctors are down with the flu and they want her to come in. Jax thinks now's a bad time, but she explains that with her changed insurance status, it's probably a matter of time before the prison flags her for being married to a felon. Jax gets a call that Chibs is OK. At the garage, it's a Chibs reunion. He has staples in his head from where Frankie clocked him. Happy reports that Frankie has been found in Reno with Leo Pirelli's mob crew. Bobby suggests they reach out to Jimmy Cacuzza. Clay volunteers. When they find him, Jax wants to press him to find out who organized the attacks. They vote unanimously to strip Frankie's patch, then "all in favor of Frankie Diamonds meeting Mr. Mayhem." With the rest of the club out of the room, Jax immediately tells Bobby they can't kill Frankie. He tells him about Roosevelt's offer and news that they have a rat at the table. First, they have to make sure Clay doesn't get to Frankie before they do. Then when they have him, Jax will insist on the kill and make sure he and Bobby split off so Roosevelt can intercept. "That's a lot of moves, a lot of lies," Bobby says. But he doesn't have a better plan. Gemma comes to the garage and tells Clay to be careful on their ride to Tahoe. He tells her Skeeter has Carla's ashes. She thanks him for handling it. They ride out. When they stop for gas, Clay claims hand pain and hops in the van for the rest of the ride. He makes a call to Cacuzza and tells Juice that Frankie might be at a fishing cabin. He suggests they follow it up alone. Visiting Nero's son, she tells Nero about getting hooked up with the club when she was 18. Gemma charms Lucius. Jax and the boys stop at a restaurant to see Leo Pirelli, but his goons take exception to their club patches and soon a brawl breaks out. When the dust has cleared, Jax tells Leo that Frankie stole half a million of cartel and IRA money from them. Jax says they just want Frankie and Leo can keep the cash. Tara checks on Otto Delaney (Kurt Sutter), who's strapped down to a gurney. She puts a bottle of LuAnne's old perfume under his nose and gets his attention, "to remind you of the things you love." She says she's an "old lady" protecting her man, like LuAnne would have done for him. He asks her to put some on her wrist and she does, holding it over his nose. At the cabin, Leo's guy gets a call from Leo and asks Frankie how much money he really has. He tells Frankie people are on the way and Frankie immediately grabs his gun and shoots him.Clay and Juice pull up outside. Juice starts to call Jax, but Clay tosses him a weapon and tells him to focus on Frankie. Inside, Frankie grabs a rifle and tries to go out the back, but Juice shoots at him. Out front, Clay puts a rock on the van's gas pedal and it barrels into the cabin, exploding in a giant fireball. From the road nearby, Jax can see the explosion. Juice busts in on unarmed Frankie. With Clay still outside, Frankie tells him Clay put the whole thing in motion and they stole his safe to get all the legal documents back. Clay busts in as Juice is trying to decide whether or not to believe him. Clay puts his shotgun to Frankie's chest but Jax and the rest of the guys bust in before he can pull the trigger. For the moment, Frankie lives. But then Leo comes in, sees his guy is dead, and shoots Frankie through the head. In a cemetery, Gemma brings Nero Carla's ashes. He contemplates the box."Come in crying, go out in Tupperware," Gemma says. Nero has an idea what to do with her and they break into a fancy crypt. He dumps the ashes in a vase and leaves flowers. "Please don't let that ever be me," he says. Back at the cabin, Jax is angry with Leo for killing Frankie. Leo assesses the damaged cabin, they decide to call it even. Back at the prison, Tara asks Otto again to recant his statement to kill the RICO case. He asks her to unhook his hand and says he won't hurt her. She does. He asks her to hold his head. She does, while he sticks his hand down his pants. She tries to ignore what he's doing, but he starts crying. Back in Charming, Bobby and Jax try to figure out how to deal with Clay with no evidence. Jax drops in on Tara in the hospital. She thinks she made headway. Margaret drops by with the good news that Abel has been released. She mentions Karen from Providence hospital in Oregon will be in town for a conference and wants to talk to Tara. It's news to Jax that the job offer might still be on the table. Back at the club, Bobby gets cash to pay Skeeter for disposing of Frankie's body. Clay asks him if there's anything he should know about his future. "I don't know, you got something you want to share?" "My conscience is clear." Bobby says Jax is making good choices, he knows Clay wants the President's seat back."I thought I did," Clay says."Is that why you set the Nomads in motion?" Bobby asks."If that were a real threat, you wouldn't be lobbing it at me as I walk out the door.""I hope you're as smart as you think you are. I am tired of burning friends," Bobby says."Me too." Jax and Tara bring the boys home and find Gemma there. She returns her house key. She tells Jax she can count the times she's been really happy on one hand, and Nero makes her feel like she hasn't felt in a long time. "The thing you want me to with Clay, I can't do both," she says. "If I'm going to go back to that place, I need to know what you promised is real." She wants assurances from Tara. Tara tells her if Gemma goes through with it she can have the key and the family that goes with it back.Gemma gets up to leave."You good?" Jax asks."No son, I'm really not," she says. Gemma drops by Nero's. He can tell something is wrong. She's about to tell him when she hears birds chirping. He shows her the parakeets in his office that he got for her. She's touched. She tells him she's exhausted and needs to go home and sleep for a couple of days. She kisses him and leaves. With Jax out, Tara gets ready for bed and puts on some of LuAnne's perfume. It has the same effect on her it did on Otto. In the middle of the night, Jax meets Roosevelt in the middle of the woods. He insists on patting Jax down. He finds a stack of cash that Jax says is for Frankie, who's in the back of the van. Roosevelt is angry to see he's already dead. Jax assures him he didn't kill him. Roosevelt doesn't want to tell him who the rat is and be responsible for another dead body. Jax tells him it's too late and then goes through the suspects. He knows it's not loyal Tig, Chibs, Happy or Bobby. The prospects don't know enough and Clay has nothing to gain. That leads one guy: the guy who tried to hang himself a few months back, Juice. Roosevelt says Juice had no choice, but Jax says they always do. Clay answers his door and finds Gemma bearing cortisone shots for his aching hands. Juice finishes working on Clay's bike and leaves, happy to see them together. Jax follows him as he rides off.

Ablation
Moments after driving of the road...
more
Moments after driving of the road with the boys in her car, EMS crews find Gemma. Thomas is fine and being held by a paramedic, but Abel is strapped to a board and bloody. Elsewhere, Tara waits angrily in the car while Tig, Chibs and Jax load "a dead black guy in the back of my car," as Jax puts it. Clay comes home to find Juice waiting for him with the double dose of bad news. At the cabin, Jax doesn't have answers for Tara. She wants to know if Frankie could be behind it. He asks her to stay in the bedroom. In the living room, Jax tries to figure out how to dispose of his assailant's body and picks up the fireplace ax. He angrily hacks the body's hands off. One is for Unser to ID, the other for Pope."I'm tired of watching my back," Jax says.Tara comes out in a panic, she just got the news about her boys. At the hospital, Jax and Tara anxiously watch as doctors tend to Abel's heart. Tara blames Gemma, but Jax is way ahead of her. Gemma wakes up with Clay at her bedside. He tells her Abel is fine. She sobs. Bobby briefs the Sons: "Abel's heart went irregular, they gotta do a thing to reverse it." Margaret the administrator brings Thomas by. Abel is going to be fine. Unser has ID on the dead guy. Charles Turner, a member of Black Nation in Chino. He's not from Pope's territory. Jax goes to see Gemma and immediately asks if she was drunk. Clay answers for her and says the guys in the van came after her and ran her off the road. Jax's attitude changes immediately."This is my fault," Jax says. In the hall, Clay says only one person they know gets off on dead kids: Pope. And he wants to meet. Back in her room, Clay explains to Gemma that he can't have Jax hating her too. Clay sees Roosevelt and says the club owes him an apology. Roosevelt demands to see Juice. He wants info on Frankie, but Juice has none. "You're going to get me killed," Juice says."That concern left me when I watched my wife die," Roosevelt says. Jax, Happy and Chibs go to the train yard to meet Pope, who brags about buying the property to build mutli-family units.Pope didn't appreciate the severed hand."He's black, what was I supposed to think?" Jax says."That someone wants you dead and hired a black guy to do it," Pope says, matter-of-factly. Jax tells Pope the attacks were coming from inside. Pope quickly tells Jax the shooter's name is Charles Turner. They give him his brother-in-law's address. Nero stops by Gemma's room and asks Chuckie for a moment alone with her.Nero asks her about Chuckie's amputated hands."The Chinese cut those off because he couldn't stop playing with himself," Gemma says."See, I should have put that together," Nero says. He kisses her forehead and tells her he's sorry this happened to her.Gemma confesses she was stoned driving them and Clay lied for her. Nero urges her to tell the truth.Chuckie interrupts to warn them Clay is coming.Nero says good-bye, promising to check in on her. Clay walks him out. "Whatever it was between you and my wife, it's over," Clay says."Well maybe we should let her make that call," Nero says."I know you and Jax are tight and the club appreciates your p---- salvation, but make no mistake -- you get in my way with Gemma and I'll kill you.""Don't worry, hermano. I don't make mistakes. Not like you," Nero says. The Sons roll up on the shooter's address. They recognize the van but don't know who was driving it. Jax walks around the corner and waits to see which man recognizes him. It doesn't take long before one shoots and runs. He makes it up to the warehouse roof and runs, but the fire escape is broken and he can't get away. He talks, telling them a guy they knew in Chino, Frankie Diamonds, paid them.Jax asks why he went after his mom and kids. The guy denies it, saying he doesn't even know Jax. Chibs realizes Frankie is smarter than he looks. Jax puts his arms around the man and calmly shoots him repeatedly in the gut. At the clubhouse, Clay asks Juice why Roosevelt is pressing him. He pushes Juice to tell him and Juice lays it all out: Roosevelt knows his father is black and wanted him to get evidence for the RICO case they were building with Otto's testimony. He confesses to stealing the brick of coke and fighting with Miles, killing him.He thinks the RICO case is over. Clay tells Juice he sent the Nomads to the trailer and he killed Greg.Clay says they're even and nobody else needs to know. At the hospital, Tara checks on Gemma and gives her a big hug. She thanks Gemma for keeping the boys safe. Jax joins them and tells them they're still looking for the guys who came after them.He asks Gemma for details on the van. She says it was maybe brown. Jax gets a call. He, Chibs and Bobby go to Diosa and find Nero tied up and Frankie with a gun in Lila's mouth. He demands $200,000 but Jax explains the club doesn't have that cash lying around. Nero volunteers his and sends Bobby to get it from his safe. Frankie tells them Clay put them up to everything, but when Jax asks if he signed off on Frankie going after his mom and kids, Frankie denies it. Bobby returns with Nero's loot and has Lila get Nero's truck keys. Frankie takes Chibs hostage as his driver, when Jax tells him he's making a mistake, Frankie shoots Lila in the leg on his way out. Nero calls a doctor who's a client for Lila. Nero reminds Jax he promised him no violence. Jax tells him it won't happen again. Nero is angry and reminds him they got into this so they could get out of everything. Nero asks about Gemma, then tells Jax that Clay lied about her being run off the road. Nero says she was scared to go against Clay.Jax says she should be scared. "Well what are you going to do, prez? Beat the s--- out of your mom? Ain't that been done enough by your family?" Nero asks. Bobby prevents Jax from going after Nero. "You want to be with Gemma? Be my guest, she's your problem now, partner," Jax says. Jax finds Gemma holding Thomas with Tara in the room. Jax calmly takes Thomas and asks Gemma if she's going to tell Tara or if he should. Gemma tells Tara the truth and Tara immediately slugs her and tells her she never gets to see her kids again. Along a dark road, Chibs pulls over and Frankie gets out and hauls Chibs out after him. He forces Chibs to kneel then puts his gun to the back of his head. Chibs dares him to look him in the eyes before he kills him. Frankie's ride gets impatient so Frankie knocks Chibs out, shoots out Chibs' tires and rides off. Bobby and Jax head back to the club. Jax doesn't want the club to know about Clay's involvement in the home invasions until they have proof. Jax goes to talk to Roosevelt when he pulls up. He asks about Jax's kids. He tells Jax his wife was pregnant. The DNA under her fingernails was inconclusive. He asks about the RICO case against the club and doesn't buy it when Jax plays dumb. Roosevelt tells Jax the Feds had another source. He knows the club will find Frankie before he does. If they turn him over, he'll give Jax "the rat at your table." Back home after a very long day, Jax snuggles on the couch with Tara. He asks if she ever regrets coming back to Charming. She says no.He's been thinking about life choices lately."You want to tell me?" she asks."I'm pretty sure Clay was the one calling the shots with the Nomads," he says. Clay was using them to push him out of his seat. Now he has to prove it to the club and let them decide to kill him."I have a plan, you may not like it," Jax says. Jax returns to the club late at night to talk to Clay, telling him he thinks Frankie hired a black guy to put them off the truth.Jax says he knows no one went after Gemma or his kids. "I know why you lied for her, I'd have done the same thing to protect Tara," he says, explaining that Gemma is now dead to his family. "You're the only thing she's got left," Jax says."She doesn't want me," Clay says."I'm worried about her, Clay. She's already on edge. I'm not sure what happens to her without family. She's going to need you," Jax says. Gemma smokes a cigarette and knits at Diosa.Jax visits and Nero reminds Gemma to be civil. Jax sits down with his mom. "You want to fix the damage you've done?" Jax asks her.Of course she does, and says she's gone cold turkey. But there's more than that.Jax tells her Clay put the Nomads up to the attacks but he needs proof and she's going to get it for him. "He'd do anything for you, let him in. Get his trust," Jax says. "I want you to be with him, sleep with him. Make him feel like a king. The dirty secrets will start to flow just like they always did." "What if I can't do that?" Gemma asks."Then get used to living in a brothel, because hookers and bangers are going to be your only family," Jax says.

Toad's Wild Ride
Jax and Bobby ride. Clay meets...
more
Jax and Bobby ride. Clay meets with the patched-in Nomad members, Greg (Kurt Yaeger), Gogo (Chris Browning) and Frankie Diamonds (Chuck Zito), and tries to figure out what to do about Rita Roosevelt's murder. Clay promised them a cut of his profits if they got him back at the head of the table. He thinks they have to leave town for awhile. Gemma wakes up next to her one-night stand. She goes to the bathroom and sobs. Tara looks over Otto Delaney's files. Abel sleeps next to her, clutching his Mr. Toad doll. Jax and Bobby find Unser camped out at Unser's scrap yard. He sold his land to the county to pay for his medical bills. He's providing security. Jax asks what Unser has on the home invasions. He has a cork board of suspects and info on the case inside. Jax wants to know who Unser is looking at within the club. Unser points out the burglars barely took anything, just beat people up to send a message. He's sure it wasn't black who jumped him. "Who has something to gain by making the club look weak? Turning the town and the sheriffs against them? Suddenly the pretty guy they gave the gavel to, he don't look that smart," Unser says. He rhetorically asks who's new. The Nomads. Jax suggests Unser pay them a visit and feel them out, he'll deal with Clay. Gemma comes out of the bathroom and finds her purse emptied out. Her wallet and keys are gone. She comes outside and sees her bed buddy driving off in her Escalade. At the garage, Jax sees Frankie Diamonds packing up his custom bike for a bike show up north. Jax says it's a good time to split, Charming's been messy since they showed up. Jax tells Frankie to stay in touch, he's close to figuring out who's behind the attacks. His veiled threat is clear. Unser goes to introduce himself to Greg, working on his bike. Greg's face is banged up and Gogo has deep scratches in his neck. They are in a hurry to get rid of him and don't appreciate his questions. Jax visits the remodeled Elk Lodge. Nero and Lyla (Winter Ave Zoli) are getting along great. Nero tells Jax he heard from Gemma who is in some sort of distress. Nero, Jax and the guys roll up to Gemma at the seedy motel. She's upset to see them, she only called Nero. Jax assesses the situation and gives his mom a withering glare. "Who are you?" he asks. Nero gently reminds him she's still his mother. "She's caught between a husband she hates and a kid she thinks hates her. Women like your moms they don't do so good without family. Go easy," he counsels. Nero gets a call. His guys found the Escalade and the guy who stole it. Clay surprises Tara going through old club files on Otto. She ignores him. "We're going to have to say something to each other sooner or later," he says. "No we won't," she says. "Jax should have killed me, I'm living on borrowed time," he says. "You're not on borrowed time. To me you're already dead. Stay away," she says. Waiting in the hall, Juice hears. He asks Clay what he did to her. "Same thing I always do," he says. Juice tells him Greg the Peg called and it sounded important. Nero, Jax and the guys report to a chop shop. They learn Gemma's one nighter, Warren, is part of a crew that scams older women and steals their cars. They see him (Joel McHale) and he flees. He gets in a stripped down BMW and drives off. The guys hop on their bikes and chase him. Nero follows with his guys in his truck. Warren makes it out of the neighborhood but runs into a cul de sac, takes out a gun and starts firing as he runs. Jax tackles him down a hillside and wants to beat the crap out of him. Nero points out they're next to a busy street. Instead, they take the contents of his pockets: some weed and cash. He protests that it's $3,000, then assesses them and decides that fair. "So, we'll just call it even?" he suggests."No, we won't," Nero says, pointedly, as they walk away. Greg rides up to the garage where Clay tells him Unser and Jax are on to them. He says Frankie and Gogo are talking about killing Unser. Clay decides it's a good idea and makes plans for them to meet up at Unser's trailer later. Clay will clear it for guns first and they'll come in wearing masks and kill him. Tara asks Bobby for something to bring to Otto, he suggests asking Gemma for something on Lu Anne. Since they won't let her bring Lu Anne's porno tapes in, Gemma suggests a perfume Otto always had her wear. Jax returns with Gemma's car. Jax and Tara make plans to meet back at the garage later to leave for the cabin. Jax checks on his mom. She apologizes for embarrassing him. He assures her things with Tara will get worked out. He asks what's going on with her. Gemma tells Jax that after his brother died, she poured all her love into him. She apologizes for being too much.He tells her he felt bad when his brother died, because it meant he'd have her to himself. He promises her they'll get through this. Juice drops Clay off at Unser's trailer. Clay tells him to be sure to call. Clay asks if he can come in. Unser lets him in with a shotgun leveled at him. Clay sees his suspects board with SAMCRO on it. Clay takes his gun out of the small of his back, puts it aside and sits down to talk. Juice sits outside the yard and calls Clay when the Nomads are arriving. Clay tells him to leave. Inside the trailer, Clay tells Unser he was right about it being an inside job.Following Juice's call he checks that Unser's shotgun is loaded. After a minute, two masked men bust into the trailer. Unser fires first, killing one. Then Clay grabs his gun and shoots the other. They pull back the masks... Greg and Gogo are dead. Clay tells him he looked into them after they talked in the hospital. Unser reloads his shotgun, pointing out they're not smart enough to plan it on their own. He tells Clay he should leave, he'll deal with the sheriff. He shoots already dead Greg in the chest with his shotgun, planning to explain Greg's 9mm from Clay by saying the intruder kept coming after Wayne shot him. "Watch your back, Wayne, there's still one of them out there," Clay says as he leaves."Yea, I'm watching," Unser says as he watches Clay leave. At the club, Bobby tells Jax about Unser spotting the scratches on Gogo. As they make plans to look into it, Gemma and the guys come in to break the news about Greg and Gogo. Juice puts things together. Jax explains Unser was looking into the home invasions. They want to find Frankie to get the truth. Gemma visits Unser at the yard. Frankie watches the police from across the street and drives off. Gemma and Unser have a smoke of his prescription weed. He starts to apologize for what he said to her at the hospital, but she says it was the truth -- but don't do it again. Tara shows up at the garage to go away with Jax. Bobby thinks it's good he gets away.Tara tells him their babysitter bailed. He suggests Gemma look after them and she says ok.She plans to go up ahead of him and Jax asks Tig to keep her safe. Jax makes plans with Chibs and Bobby for them to come up tomorrow. But first Jax needs Chibs for an errand, to "check on a sick friend." Tara calls Gemma and asks her to babysit, saying she's trusting her to keep the boys safe. Gemma stubs out her joint and says yes. Nero and his guys corner car thief Warren escorting another older woman to a hotel room. She's told to scram. Nero beats the crap out of him. "Now we call it even," Nero says. Juice drops by Clay's to ask if he killed Greg and Gogo. He tells Juice they're working for someone else and Juice insists he tell the club. As bikes roll up outside, Clay says he thinks they already know. Chibs and Jax drop by. Jax talks to Clay alone, laying out that Clay is behind the home invasions. Clay insists it's Pope. Jax suggests they find Frankie and take it to the Club. "Let SAMCRO decide who lives and who dies," Jax says. (Closing music montage) Gemma tucks Abel and his stuffed toad and Thomas into the back seat of her Escalade. Clay looks through the things the Nomads stole from his safe. Tig guards the cabin as Tara gets ready inside. Chibs and Jax ride up to the cabin, when a van pulls up beside them. Someone fires an automatic weapon at them, spraying them with bullets. They ride off the edge of the hillside. They hide behind their bikes as whoever's in the van gets out and fires again. They're wearing masks. Chibs makes a run for it, drawing fire. Jax gets a clean shot at one of them and hits him multiple times. The other one gets back in the van and drives off. They take the mask off -- he's black. Driving the boys home, Gemma gets woozy and starts veering all over the road. She veers into on-coming traffic, a semi truck barrels at her. She swerves to avoid it and slams through the guard rail and down an embankment. The Escalade comes to a stop at the bottom, with Gemma knocked out and Thomas crying in his car seat as he looks at his brother Abel, who appears to be skewered on a tree limb. His stuffed Toad lies on the car floor, his blood spilling onto it.

more
In the morning, Tara asks Gemma to check on the boys during the day. Gemma sees the news about Rita Roosevelt. Jax meets with Damon Pope about the invasions, he says his guys aren't responsible for the attacks. Jax wants his help finding out who it is, so he can stop them. Jax turns over their $50K, half of their last coke run."You're an impressive young man," Pope says."Yea, I get that a lot.""I've got a proposal for you and SAMCRO.""Does it involve children and bonfires?" Jax asks. Damon suggests Jax double their coke haul to 60 keys and he can move half of it to Reno. Pope will pay them another $100K on top of what the cartel pays them and Pope won't take any of their cut.Jax knows the Sons want out of the drug game. Pope will set up a meet with the Mayans, Lin, and Niners and the club can pass if they want. He'll also give Jax 2% of his own profits, a "gentleman's agreement" between them.Jax wonders why Pope takes the risk."I've learned how to do it the right way, with the right people, there is no risk," Pope says. Unser visits Sheriff Roosevelt in the hospital waiting area. He sent the DNA Rita got to the lab. Roosevelt's on 10 day mandatory leave, but he's not stepping away from the case. He thinks it's the black gang, but Unser doesn't think Pope would sign off on hitting a sheriff.Unser agrees that only leaves the Club. The doctor comes for Roosevelt, he goes to see his wife and gets an apology from the nurse. He fights off tears. Clay gets good news from him doctor, who takes him off oxygen.Outside, Clay still wears the tank and tells Juice he got bad news. He sees Unser, who tells him Rita didn't make it. Clay suggests Pope's boys are responsible for the attack.Unser suggests it "feels local, someone in Charming working out a personal beef."His meaning is not lost on Clay, who asks if he has proof. He tells him Roosevelt is running DNA. Gemma goes to her kitchen and is startled to see Carla waiting for her with a cell phone and a gun. She marches Gemma to her bedroom as she calls someone. Around the table, Jax tells them Pope swears he's not behind the attacks. He lays out Pope's coke offer. Clay suggests it's too good to be true, Juice backs him up. Jax promises they'll get out of muling coke, but this makes sense for now.He puts it to a vote and gets yays from Phil, Bobby, Tig, Chibs. Clay and the new members vote no. It passes by one vote. Alone after with Bobby, they know the table is dividing.Jax is waiting to hear from Tara. Tara's at the prison, getting the rundown on treating prisoners. She fills out a form to see Otto Delaney. Unser drives up to Tara's house to see Nero racing inside. He can't believe it and leaves. Inside, Nero finds Carla holding a gun on Gemma. She tells her "sweet brother" to get undressed and in the bed with Gemma. Jax lays out Pope's doubled coke haul to Alvarez with the Mayans, Lin and the new Niners' leadership, urging them to "think outside the hood."Alvarez checks that the cartel is on board. They agree to a deal. Pope's guy August rolls up, telling Jax he has nothing on the invasions. But he has something that he hopes will buy good will. August drives Jax, Chibs and Bobby to the house of the prison guard. He doesn't have any kids and his wife works til 6. Jax has the guys call Tig. Back in Carla's horror show, she orders Gemma to get Nero ready for sex. Gemma tries to go along, but is too traumatized. Nero calls a halt to things and gets up and puts his pants on, inviting Carla to shoot him in the back if she wants. In Spanish, he asks what she's trying to do and says Gemma has no part in it."I'm sorry, I just wanted to go out watching you do your thing," she tells Nero. Then she puts the gun to her head and pulls the trigger. Later, back with their clothes on and a sheet over Carla's body, Nero says a prayer for his half-sister. She was the one who got him in rehab and to turn legit. "She was in love with you," Gemma says."The sister thing made that a little messy," he says with a weak laugh. He guesses she stopped taking her meds. Gemma doesn't want to call the cops. Carla doesn't have any other family, so Nero agrees to let Gemma handle her body. Unser looks over the Roosevelt's bedroom crime scene. He ignores a call from Gemma. In his house, the prison guard gets a visit from Jax, Bobby, Chibs and Tig."Remember me? I keep my promises," Jax says. Suddenly, a woman comes out with a shotgun and shoots at the Sons. They subdue her, but the guard runs. Jax tackles him and brings him back inside, where they have the wife tied up. "This one's a problem," Bobby says of the wife.Tig takes one look at her, says "no she's not," and calmly blows her brains out. Bobby and Chibs are shocked, but Jax nods, calling her collateral damage for Opie's murder. They figure out what to do about the guard."Find a pipe," Jax says. In the prison, Tara is let in to see Otto. She introduces herself as Jax's wife and tries to tell him what Bobby told him was the truth. She tells him the RICO case is stalled, and his execution along with it.The club needs him to reverse his testimony or the RICO case will kill the club. She promises the club will give him anything he needs. He propositions her, but she draws the line. He won't budge. He tells her not to visit again. Clay looks over Carla's dead body in Gemma's bedroom. She didn't know who else to call. Clay asks to check in on her later. "I can do a sweep for crazy bitches," he offers. She agrees. In the guard's house, Tig presents Jax with a "Small World" musical snow globe and ball peen hammer. They take off the guard's gag. He pleads, saying he was acting on orders. He cries his apologies and offers to help anyone he can inside. They're unmoved. "I got this," Jax says. He winds the snow globe and as it starts to play a twinkling tune, he wails away on the guard's skull, smashing it to bloody bits. Chibs finally calls him off as "It's a small world after all" finishes playing. It's more traumatic than the ride at Disneyland. Later, Tig plans to take the bodies up into the woods. Chibs checks that he's OK."Yea, I am. That was really good for me," Tig says. Jax calls Tara, but she ignores the call. She joins Gemma with the boys in daycare. Gemma says good-bye, saying she's got someone cleaning rugs at the house. Jax meets with Pope, saying he settled his score. Jax is trying to believe that Pope isn't behind the attacks. He tells Pope the deal went through.Pope suggests Jax look inside on the attacks.Pope explains how he stays safe. If he gets killed, independent security contractors can vie for the $5 million bounty on whoever kills him."You don't need money, just the ability to see the inevitable," Pope tells him. Gemma runs into Unser in the hospital. He's short with her and asks what's going on with Nero and if he's the same kind of friend he is.He lectures her, telling her she doesn't have friends, just people who do things for her. Jax and Tara are on to her and won't ever let her do what she did to JT."You're going to die alone, just like me," he tells her. Out on the road, Eli Roosevelt pulls alongside the club, telling them to pull over. When they don't, he runs Bobby off the road. Eli comes out swinging, but Jax breaks it up. He tells Eli he's sorry about Rita and wants to find out who's behind the attacks."I'm gonna crush your club," Eli says. To get his attention, Jax tells Eli he just sat down with Pope, who says he isn't behind the attacks."We've reached an understanding. One that stops getting people killed. Why don't we consider the same thing? Help each other find these scumbags that are s---ing on our town," Jax says. "I can't imagine how much pain you're in right now, but we aren't the cause. Please let me know if I can help, and don't do this again," Jax says. Clay stops by to check on Gemma. She's not there, but Nero is. Clay tells him he'll get him the ashes."This thing with Gemma, is it going anywhere? Man to man, just answer me," Clay says."I don't know. That's the truth," Nero says. Gemma drinks alone at a bar. Jax comes home with Bobby. She tells him she couldn't get to Otto."I can do this, promise," she says. Jax tells Tara that Pope's not behind the attacks and he had a "quiet day." Jax sags under the weight of lying to Tara.He goes back to her and suggests they go up to the cabin tomorrow after work, without the kids. Back at the bar, a man (Joel McHale) approaches Gemma."Mind if I sit here?""Mind if I don't give a s---?" she says."My therapist warned me about this, my attraction to older, abusive women," he says, sitting down. "Can I buy you a drink, mom?"She agrees. Clay puts on a good show of being labored as Juice drops him off at home. With Juice gone, he rips off his oxygen tank and goes inside, where the new club members including Frankie Diamonds and Gogo, are waiting. They apologize. Clay decks one. "Idiots! You weren't supposed to kill her," he says.

more
Jax lies in bed with Tara as his voice over relates how hard it is not to hate when people break your spirit and take pleasure in watching you bleed. "But I know what hate does to a man, tears him apart, makes him into something he's not. Turns him into something he promised himself he'd never become." He's trying not to cave under the weight of awful things he feels in his heart. He feels like he spends every day cleaning up from the one before. Gemma smokes weed in her house as a naked woman sleeps nearby. Clay cleans his guns. Jax leaves Tara a note, saying he couldn't sleep and goes riding. Jax writes to his sons, telling them every day is a new box and they must decide whether it's a gift or a coffin. Jax, Bobby and Chibs find the mayor, Jacob Hale Jr. (Jeff Kober), in a diner. He's reading about the home invasions. Jax mentions the old Elk's Lodge Hale owns and says they want to lease it for an escort service. Hale tells them no way. Jax takes out minutes from the last six city council meetings, Hale's already lost his investors and Charming Heights is about to revert back to agriculture. Jax knows Hale's one vote shy on keeping it. "We're going to make your dream come true," Jax tells him. In the clubhouse, Jax says the gun deal with the Irish is set to go. Gogo (Chris Browning) and Frankie Diamonds (Chuck Zito) are worried about the club being blamed for the home invasions. Jax tells them Pope will put a stop to it if it's his people. Chibs reminds them the real problem is the coke running. Jax tells them he's looking for other ways to earn and mentions he made a deal with Nero's escort service to use the Cara Cara porn actresses who'll bring premium prices. It's Jax's deal now but he wants it to be club business. They won't make as much as running coke but it'll get them out of Fed's crosshairs. Jax suggests they wait and see how it goes, but Clay calls for a vote, it passes unanimously. They're in the companion business. The guys leave and Jax tells Clay that Nero won't be with Gemma anymore. Outside, Gemma asks Jax about Nero and he tells her not to get attached. Tara has a check-up for her hand and the doctor is optimistic about her being able to resume performing surgery. The club rolls up to their meet with Galen (Timothy V. Murphy) and the IRA. Clay takes off his O2 tank to meet Galen, who immediately chafes that Clay isn't president anymore. Jax asks if there's a problem. Galen is mad that Jax got Father Kellan Ashby killed in Belfast ("Sons of Anarchy: Bainne (#3.11)"). He decks Jax. Jax welcomes the fight. Jax takes off his rings, Galen takes off his shirt and they go bare knuckle boxing. Galen gets some good cuts in on Jax's face and Jax lays a few gut punches. The cartel pulls up but they keep fighting as Romeo Parada (Danny Trejo) says he didn't know there was going to be entertainment. Everybody watches. Chuckie, "marketing his new business," brings a gift bag from Uncle Fudgie's delicious fudge, to gigantic insurance salesman Allen Biacone (Brad Grunberg). He says he's diabetic, but takes it anyway "for the clients." Chuckie gives Tig the thumbs up outside. As soon as Chuckie leaves, Biacone starts stuffing it all in his mouth. Back at the meet, the fight seems to have cleared the air. Galindo cartel turns over payment for the current shipment and half for the next. They want a drop every two weeks, Clay and Galen agree. Galen insists on trying the guns out and blasts several of the club's bikes to smithereens with a mounted M2 machine gun. Chibs rages, but Jax walks out calmly, saying they'll send the bill for the bikes. In town, Jax and the guys go to Biancone's office. He's passed out. He ate all the fudge. They figure they have four hours. Bobby checks with Jax that he wants to go through with things. "It's a risky bet on a horse we hate," he says. They start taking off Biancone's tie. Gemma goes to Diosa, checking up on Nero. She finds everyone packing up. She confesses to setting Tara on Carla. She asks why he's shutting her out. He tells her to talk to Jax. She gets angry when he won't tell her why. She grabs him and he grabs back. They end up close together and he tells her can't, he made a promise. She knows he means Jax. Back at Biancone's office, they open the door for someone with very large breasts. It's transsexual hooker Venus Van Damme (Walton Goggins, Kurt Sutter's old pal from "The Shield" days). "Thanks for coming," Jax says. "Not yet," Venus says. Meanwhile, Biancone is passed out on a table, naked except for leather-studded bikini, with a ball gag in his mouth. Tig is absolutely transfixed by Venus, but she whispers to him it's not going to happen. Gemma goes to the club house and finds a Sheriff's Deputy waiting. Clay explains that they arrested some guys for the home invasions and need her to ID stuff to make an arrest. Filthy Phil (Christopher Douglas Reed) comes out with a box from Skeeter the mortician for Jax that he says is important. Gemma says she'll take it to him. Back in the insurance office, Venus, in full black latex catsuit, straddles the unconscious insurance salesman, posing as Juice takes photos and the guys watch in a combination of horror and awe, Tig transfixed. They see a kid coming and pull him in. He quickly figures out they're Sons and they're blackmailing Biancone. He's Devin Price (Marshall Allman), Allen's 21-year-old stepson, and he wants to get in on the blackmail. He hates him. Venus intercedes and presents a solution, offering Devin her services. Jax assures Devin it doesn't mean he's gay, they've all been there. The Sons play along. Devin can't believe his good fortune. Tig is unbelievably jealous. While Devin waits in back, Jax promises Venus another $2,000 for Devin. Sheriff Eli Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar) has lunch with his wife Rita (Merle Dandridge) in his office, basking in the glow of her new pregnancy. Gemma looks at the items in the Polaroid but none of it's hers. Roosevelt has to rush off when the suspects in holding start fighting his deputy. Jax settles things up with Devin, explaining that if he talks, the photos Venus took while servicing him will go public. Venus kisses Jax on the lips and saunters off. They roll Biancone, now fully dressed, back behind his desk but he starts to wake up. When he does, he bites the first thing he sees, which happens to be Tig's butt. They knock Biancone unconscious to pry him loose, but Tig's left with a bloody hole on his butt cheek. Back at the club, Jax asks Tara if she can stitch Tig up. With her busted hand, Bobby says they can help. Gemma confronts Jax outside about Nero. She accuses Jax and Tara of shutting her out, but he says she's doing that herself getting wasted every night. She thinks he blames her for JT. He says he might be having some trouble separating her from that hate. "You can't hate me Jackson, you're the only thing I still love," she pleads. He says again that getting involved with Nero is a bad idea. Tara struggles to stitch up Tig so Chibs takes over. Tig doesn't mind too much, he's very high. Jax finds Jacob Hale and presents him with photos of Biancone with Venus. He offers to send the photos to Biancone with the suggestion that he change his vote on Charming Heights. Jax also offers to get Hale a new investor, the biggest developer in Oakland. "Whether you like it or not, there is no one in this town that can help you more than me. I ain't Clay, I ain't (Elliott) Oswald's boy," Jax says. Gemma waits for Tara after she patches up Tig. Tara's angry she couldn't even do that. "Well, we all got a lot of healing to do," Gemma says. Tara tells Gemma she didn't tell Jax about beating Carla to a pulp. She's freaked out by how easy it is to go to extremes. "Not a lot of grey in this life, sweetheart. Extremes become average," Gemma says. "I'm not sure I find that comforting," Tara says. "You're not supposed to." Back at Charming PD, Roosevelt tells Clay that the black suspect's apartments were packed with stolen goods. In her bedroom, Rita Roosevelt wakes up late at night when she hears a noise. She grabs her gun and dials 911. As she's on the phone, a masked man kicks in her door. She fires but misses. She runs, but another masked man runs in. Someone fires and she ends up shot in the stomach. The three masked intruders run. Late at night, Gemma drops off the box for Jax which Filthy Phil had given her. Tara puts it on the kitchen table, still unopened. She asks Gemma to feed Thomas for her. Gemma thanks her. Tara lights up a joint. Rita Roosevelt is wheeled into surgery with her husband at her side. He asks a nurse for the skin underneath her fingernails, thinking of the job, but holding back tears. Late at night, Jacob Hale meets with Jax and gives him the lease agreement on the old Elk's Lodge. Jax gets Hale's go ahead to blackmail Biancone. Jax comes home to find Tara asleep on the couch. He checks her healing hand and covers her up. He finds his mom asleep in the back room with his son asleep on her chest. He covers them up, too. He finds the box on his kitchen table with his name on it. He slits open the tape and takes out a mini cooler. He opens it up and finds a boob and a finger, to help convince Nero's guys that they killed Emma Jean as they promised. The previous day's mess cleaned up.

Stolen Huffy
As the Sons ride past two adolescent...
more
As the Sons ride past two adolescent boys on Huffy bikes, Jax remembers a simpler time. In jail with the escorts, Carla (Wanda De Jesus) blames Gemma for them getting busted. She thinks the girl Gemma beat up, Emma Jean, was the one who called the cops. Gemma, not knowing who else to reach out to, has called Wendy to make her bail. Wendy thinks she can handle things with Tara, but Gemma warns her it's Jax she has to worry about. Nero gets out and finds Gemma. He doesn't tell her the raid wasn't her fault. At the garage, Jax is reunited with his wife and two sons. He asks her to check on Lila. Gemma doesn't know about Opie. Around the table, Jax tells the guys he thinks Opie's been looking for a way out since Donna died. He went out like a warrior.Jax explains that Pope is way more muscle than they've ever dealt with before. Jax wants to agree to his terms and see where it goes, no retaliations. Jax explains Pope's not behind the home invasions. Jax puts the $50k payment to a vote, it passes. Opie's body is being delivered later. Outside, Unser tells Jax and the guys about the brothel raid and Gemma's arrest. They tell him about Opie. Back at the brothel, Gemma, Nero and Carla find it's been trashed, and that there's an eviction notice for the end of the week. Gemma goes to collect her stuff. Wendy runs into Tara and the boys in the hospital hallway. Tara puts them in daycare then meets Wendy in her office.Tara doesn't want to talk, but Wendy makes a case that someday Abel will want to know the truth. Jax and Chibs come to Diosa. Gemma tells Jax about beating up the girl Clay was with, Emma Jean. Jax offers to help Nero. Two Latino gangsters come in to talk to Nero, and he promises to find Emma Jean then let them handle her. One of his guys got shot in the raid and is laid up in the hospital. After the guys leave, Nero asks Jax to find Emma Jean and get her out of town before his guys off her. He tells them where to look.Carla overhears the conversation, picks up her cell phone and slips away. Gemma goes to talk to Clay working out with Frankie. Clay says he went up to Diosa because he wanted to know if she was safe. "I need distance, Clay. Stop checking up on me," she says. "You want distance, you got it. I don't even know who you are anymore," he says. "Why don't you bounce my face off the floor? Then maybe you'll recognize me," Gemma seethes. Clay mentions having to get ready for Opie's "thing." He realizes she doesn't know. He tells her. She nearly collapses. She holds onto him for a second, then throws him off and runs to the bathroom crying. "What the hell is happening to us?" she wails. Jax and Chibs check up on Emma Jean (Ashley Tisdale). They hear noises inside the hotel room. Jax knocks, throws her john out and tells her they have to get her out of town. She denies calling vice. She gets on Jax's bike outside as Nero's two bangers pull up. They want her, but Jax and Chibs take off. They race through the streets as the gangsters chase after them. They pull down a side street and Emma Jean drops her foot on the ground enough to throw them off balance. Jax wipes out in someone's front yard. The gangsters get out with guns drawn and Jax and Chibs, also with guns drawn, point out all the witnesses around. Jax claims the Sons want her dead, too, and suggests the gangsters tell their guys they sent the biker boys to do their dirty work. The gangsters want proof she's dead, a thumb and a "tiny tit." Jax agrees. One of the gangsters whacks Emma Jean to the ground, but they leave. Chibs knows someone sent the gangsters. They take Emma Jean back to the clubhouse, where Nero and Carla meet them. They tell Nero what went down. Only one other person knew where Emma Jean was, Carla. She claims she was protecting Nero, and all that "we've built." He objects to her use of "we." Jax suggests they call it even. Gemma demands to know what she's doing there. "You know what, Mom, I kind of have a few things on my plate today, like burying my best friend. So your need to be loved, worshiped and adored is a little low on my list today," Jax snaps at her. Emma Jean tells Gemma that nothing happened between her and Clay, he just had her rub his shoulders. And that she didn't call the cops. Nero asks Jax to keep an eye on Carla until he gets Emma Jean out of town. Jax has Chibs call Skeeter to provided them with a thumb and a boob as proofs of death. Chibs reassures Gemma that Jax loves her more than anyone, just give him some room. Tara visits Jax, who leaves out how he wiped out. Jax is ready to toss pictures of him with Wendy. Tara thinks they have to tell Abel the truth, but he thinks he's been through enough for now. The mortician brings Opie by. Lila's there. Jax hugs her as she cries. They put Opie, all cleaned up in his coffin, on the table to pay their respects. Lila asks Jax how she's supposed to raise three kids and work. She doesn't have family nearby. Jax shows her all the people pouring in for the wake, he tells her she'll have everything she needs. Nero comes back and Jax enjoys watching Clay watch Gemma hug Nero hello. Nero says he put Emma Jean on a plane. Jax asks to talk to him privately. Inside, Jax asks Nero about his business model. Nero's aimng for $1.3 million to buy his uncle's ranch for his disabled son. He's got a way to go. Jax has a proposition for him, involving the Cara Cara porn girls. They can bring in special porn star experience rates, but they need a booker. Jax tells him about an old Elk's Lodge out on a remote section oh highway with no neighbors. Jax offers to cover the start up costs and they'll split everything 50-50. Jax tells Nero about his end game, moving the club away from the stuff that's killing them. Nero doesn't want to get dragged into the club's guns and drugs, and Jax wants Nero to stay clear of Gemma so as to not stir things up with Clay. Nero agrees. They shake on it. Wendy comes by the garage to get repaid her bail money. Gemma tells her about Opie. Tara sees Wendy leaving and immediately confronts Gemma. Gemma slams Tara against the wall then seems to realize what she's done. She deflects, telling Tara she ought to be worried about Carla, who nearly got Jax killed today. Gemma says Carla's the reason he laid down his bike. It's news to Tara. Gemma offers to prove it. She orders the Sons to clear out of the garage where they're watching Carla. Gemma punches her, but Carla removes her pierced earrings and quickly gets her in a choke hold. Tara whacks her with a lug wrench then she's fighting with her. Tara gets a few good punches in as Gemma watches. Closing montage: On the clubhouse roof, Jax thinks about his best friend while down inside, the others say good bye to Opie leaving his hat, a bottle of Patron and other items in the coffin. Gemma sees Nero walking a battered Carla to the car. She tosses Gemma a victory glare. Gemma waits for Nero to say something to her, but he just looks at Gemma briefly then gets in his car and leaves. A blood-spattered Tara smokes a joint alone with her wounds. Jax looks at a photo of he and Opie as young boys on Huffy bikes. He goes downstairs to join the wake. Everyone stands for their leader. Jax fights back tears over Opie's coffin. The Sons file in around him. Jax puts the childhood picture in Opie's jacket. "I'll see you later, brother," he says. They close the lid and carry him out to the hearse, raising their drinks. They carefully put the coffin in the hearse, remembering their friend. Jax finds Tara, then he slams the door of the hearse on his poor, dead friend.

To Be, Act 2
Lincoln Potter addresses his troops...
more
Lincoln Potter addresses his troops staged outside the Indian reservation before the raid on the meeting between the Sons, Irish and cartel. Roosevelt is there, but not buying the hype.Jax rides to the meet.Romeo, Luis and his guys head to the meet. There's a guy in their front seat who doesn't seem like cartel.Jax and Chibs pull up the warehouse and greet Happy and the others. They have one of each gun in back to show the Irish. Lincoln has eyes on them. His staging area turns silent when a Hummer pulls up. Romeo and Luis get out with the other man, who identifies himself as Alfonse Medina (Al Vicente) of the CIA. Romeo and Luis have been working with the CIA, which is backing one cartel in Sonora to control the others. They're shutting down the RICO operation and they want the deal to go through. They want all the files and contacts. The Irish come to the warehouse and meet Jax and Romeo. Jax tells Galen (Timothy V. Murphy) that Clay was shot by a black gang in Oakland. He introduces Romeo and Luis. Jax tells Galen he's up to speed and can run the deal without him, but Galen says thought he made it clear that he won't deal with anyone but Clay, the only one he trusts. The Irish leave.Romeo tells Jax they need to talk.Lincoln's task force packs up and leaves. Roosevelt has a hard time with the idea that the dealing and criminal activity is just supposed to go on. Lincoln gives Roosevelt Juice's file. He had the DEA bust his weed shop to give Juice an excuse for being MIA. He also erased any connection to his black father from the record."The bad guys won today, Sheriff," Lincoln says. He tells Roosevelt he respects him."You're a really odd, dude, man. You know that's really hard to get past, right?" Roosevelt says.Lincoln rejoins, "I don't really like people all that much," and says good-bye.Jax talks to Romeo and Luis. He tells them the Sons are in over their heads, not cut out to be drug mules or big arms dealers. He wants to end the deal.Romeo and Luis take out their Government credentials. They explain that they need the money from the deal for the CIA to back the Galindo cartel in Mexico. They assure Jax there's enough to proceed with the RICO case, but they'll try to get Bobby out from under the charges he's under from Otto's deal with Potter. They hold the RICO charges as the threat over Jax, telling him that Clay has to get better to oversee the relationship between the cartel and the Irish. And he can't tell anyone in the club or his family why he's sticking around to continue dealing with the cartel or everyone gets taken down by RICO.Jax asks Romeo if Clay hired them to kill Tara. Romeo apologizes, saying they were going to hold her in protective custody and debrief her.Romeo asks if she's a threat. Jax says it's a family problem. They urge him to get on board.Jax visits his dad's grave. He picks up his dad's "SO" and "NS" rings he'd earlier left on top of the gravestone, and puts them on. He tells him he's sorry.Roosvelt comes for Juice in holding where he is watching "The Shield" on the TV set. He tells him RICO is going away for now and he's being let go. He gives Juice the news his file's been purged.Juice asks him why he's doing this."You're a criminal. You do bad s--t. I'm a cop, I stop you. I just want to get back to that," Roosevelt says.At a City Council hearing, Jacob Hale (Jeff Kober) turns over his permits for the Charming Heights housing development project. They're interrupted by Lincoln Potter carrying a giant black duffel bag and a young boy sex doll. He dumps out the bag full of sex toys on the table at the front of the hearing room, and tells everyone about Hale's Japanese porn investors. An incredulous Hale asks Lincoln why he's doing this."Because I don't like you," Lincoln says. "And the good guys need a win."Jax visits Clay in the hospital. Tig is at his bedside, but Clay is asleep. Jax gets a minute alone. He looks over Clay as he sleeps, sneering at him, fighting off the urge to kill him. He takes out the syringe Tara gave him. He starts to close the blinds, but Clay wakes up.He puts the syringe away and takes out a knife, closing the blinds.Clay has trouble breathing. Jax holds his knife to his father's throat. He whispers that he read the letters and tells him the only reason he's not slicing him open is because he needs the cartel deal to happen and the Irish won't deal with anyone else. He refuses to hear Clay's explanations. "You killed my father and Piney, you tried to kill Tara You're done telling me anything, now I tell you."Jax tells Clay he has to step down as club President. He tells him to keep the Irish happy and stay out of his way. Clay asks if Gemma gave him the letters, but Jax warns him to stay away from Tara and Gemma.Jax presses so hard on the knife he draws blood from Clay's neck. He cuts Clay's President's patch off his jacket."You may as well kill me," Clay says."You're already dead," Jax tells him. He spits in his face and exits the hospital room.He runs into Gemma who tells him not to leave. He says he's not and promises her Clay won't hurt her again. He leaves.Assuming that Jax has dispatched Clay for good with the apparatus Tara gave him, Gemma's face falls with disappointment when she enters Clay's room and sees her old man is still alive. Clay did not, as Gemma had earlier vowed to Unser, die at the hand of the son.Roosevelt's wife excitedly tells him about Lincoln's City Council appearance, one which caused a recess on the vote. He's interrupted by a Deputy bringing word about the hit and run on Laroy's girlfriend. She was the daughter of Damon Pope, the most dangerous gangster in Oakland. Roosevelt knows this is very bad news.Opie waits outside Jax's house for him to come home. His wrist is bandaged from where Jax shot him. Jax tells him he was right about Clay, but he can't kill him because Galen won't deal with him. Jax tells him if he kills the Mexican alliance, the whole club suffers.Jax tells Opie he's staying and taking the gavel. He wants Opie to be his VP. Opie doesn't understand why Jax is staying. Jax asks him to trust him. He promises to tell him and club everything, but at the right time. Opie considers it lying. They're having a "church meeting" in an hour, Jax wants Opie there.Jax comes home to Tara. He tells her immediately about the CIA. He explains if he kills Clay, the Irish leave and the Feds take them all down. She knows he has to stay. He urges her to leave to go to that job in Oregon for her safety and that the children. He promises to send her all the money she needs. He tells her he loves her, fights back tears and walks out.Tara cries to herself.Bobby strums his guitar in his jail cell, and starts singing a localized version of "The House of the Rising Sun," but considering what is happening, it could be "the Rising Son."Clay lies in his hospital bed.Gemma burns the last of John Teller's letters she removed from Maureen Ashby's stack.Juice, thrilled to have his life back, removes his father's photo and shreds the remainder of his law enforcement file.Jax smokes and rides.Unser sits at Gemma's table and has a joint.Back at the garage, Jax looks at Clay's blood stain on the floor. He hides the letters in the garage, but Gemma watches. The guys wait for Jax to gather around the table for "church." He takes his place at the head of the table, holding onto the President's patch.Jax stops Tig from taking the Sergeant at Arms seat, and indicates Chibs is to assume it. Happy and Juice join them. They wonder if Opie is coming. Jax bangs the gavel. Tara opens the door. She kneels down to talk to Jax and tells him she's not going anywhere. Gemma's at the door and sees. Tara and Gemma stare each other down.Tara stands over her man, with her hand on his chest. Fade to the old picture of Gemma and John Teller, in an identical pose from decades before.

She takes it in to Tara.Tara wants to call the police, but Gemma tells her involving Roosevelt would be bad for the whole club. Tara points out normal people call the police when their lives are threatened."You don't have a normal life, baby. You have this one," Gemma tells her.Clay, Jax, Tig and Bobby visit the Mayans on their compound. Alvarez takes them to their cellar coke-cutting operation, where girls in their underwear are breaking it down. They pack the baggies in hollowed out stacks of tortillas.Jax gets a call about Tara and goes upstairs. They're heading for the gated entrance of the compound when a beater car breaks through the gate and two guys in masks start firing submachine guns. Alvarez and a few other Mayans are hit as the Sons duck for cover. When they race off, Jax grabs a gun from one of the downed Mayans, gets on his bike and takes off in pursuit. The Mayan's doctor was killed in the attack, so the remaining Sons head for Tara's with Alvarez. At her house, it's pure chaos as the boys' cry and she packs up to head for safety at the club.Jax keeps racing after the shooter's car and is keeping pretty close through city streets. The shooter on the floor is worried for the woman, but tries to indicate she shouldn't talk.Jax tries to keep everyone calm. She's only able to say the other man won't listen and doesn't care when he shoots her before she can say who he is. He says he doesn't know what the Feds want from him, but Juice doesn't really have any choice but to cooperate.Juice says that it doesn't matter and leaves to go back to the garage. He walks inside, ignoring all the guys. Chibs goes inside and tells Clay he's worried about Juice. He wants to pull him off the cartel stuff.Clay asks to talk with him, telling him to shut the door and sit. He tells him to go back to the warehouse.Opie and Jax look around Lila's house. Her stuff is all gone. She has left.Around the table, Bobby suggests the fact that the Sonora Cartel hit the Mayans means the Sons are next. Bobby complains and Clay calls him on it, suggesting he do something.Bobby calls an officer challenge, asking for a vote on a new president, saying Clay is leading the club astray. Clay angrily calls for all the guys to come back to vote tonight.Juice sews his new patch on his jacket. His phone rings, but he doesn't answer it.
