ZOMBIE DRIFTWOOD Gordon (Brain Braggs) is a heavy metal fan. He'll stop at nothing to catch every gig by his favourite band; October File. He is dating a bright medical college student named Jackie (Rita Estevanovich ) but Jackie is growing bored of Gordon's obsessive behaviour and a never ending succession of October File gigs. Gordon has arranged a Caribbean cruise to patch things up and the couple arrange to meet two friends Mannie (Fritz Mcpherson) and Marianne (Katherine Brindley) to round of the trip with a short break in the Cayman Islands. Against a backdrop of increasingly strident TV news broadcasts concerning a cruise ship, which has gone missing in the Bermuda triangle, the two couples rendezvous at the cruise ship terminal on Grand Cayman island and agree to visit the Driftwood bar. Unbeknown to the girls the cruise is merely a pretext so Gordon can attend yet another October File gig. This time the gig is taking at the Driftwood bar where a Battle Of The Bands show is being held that evening. Gordon and Mannie convince the girls that nothing is amiss and the Drifwood is merely a quiet beach bar .Meanwhile at the Driftwood the owner and bar tender , Dan (Peter Kosa) surveys his empty bar while Teddy (Mike Mclaughlin) his only customer snoozes in an alcoholic stupor . Dan is also a metal fan and owns what he considers to be a very valuable collection of rock memorabilia which he uses to decorate his bar . He watches TV aimlessly as reports continue concerning the missing cruise ship .As the broadcast finishes we cut to the studio where the news anchor Gwen (Sue Howe) and the weather man Ron (Malcom Ellis) talk off camera and arrange a lovers tryst at a small cottage next to the Driftwood . They have been meeting on Fridays for years and Gwen has decided to spice up the encounter by introducing hand cuffs into the fun.The two young couples head off to drive to the Driftwood with heavy metal music screaming from the car speakers as they tour the island .Back at the Driftwood Dan joined by Tom (Colin Wilson) a local news reporter following up on the cruise ship story . Tom is a hardened drinker well known to Dan , they discuss Dans hard fought divorce and the perilous financial situation of the bar . To Dans amazement Tom reveals that the deserted cruise ship has washed ashore outside Dans bar .The Young couples are stopped by Officer Chisolm (Curtis Appleyard) of the Royal Cayman islands Police and receive a speeding ticket . He cautions against excessive speeding and tells the youngsters his advice may save their lives one day.A TV news crew arrives to report on the cruise ship story . Arriving at the Driftwood the couples meet Dan Teddy and Tom and enjoy some drinks shoot pool and begin to rock out at the juke box . There is an argument as Jackie discovers the truth that October File will be playing that night she has been duped once again . Gordons attempts to calm Jackie are spoiled by the arrival of the band who confirm that Gordon has been in e-mail contact to plan the trip .The band begin to set up for the gig and TV news reporter Tammie (Olivia Scott Ramirez) enters the bar . We learn that Tom and Tammie have a chequred history over the years and have had an affair . Tammie leaves the bar and enters the washroom and takes a call from the studio .Mannie and Marianne step outside and begin to make love . They are attacked and killed by Zombie cruise ship passengers .The band are also attacked and killed giving one last single finger salute as they are overwhelmed .Dan , Teddy , tom , Colin and Jackie are stunned by the sudden turn of events but Dan assures them no zombies can break in through the hurricane proof glass . Just then a smash is heard and Dan remembers too late that the glass in the Ladies is not hurricane proof . He rushes to the door only to see the remains of Tammie on the floor .Outside the zombies have broken into the booze store and are helplessly drunk .Jackie deduces that the brains of the zombies have been imprinted with a last behaviour loop and still act as tourists . The zombies find a drill gun and prize open a window and begin to offer money . Jackie realises they want to buy tourist items and she sells them Dans T-shirt collection . Dan is mortified but happy to have the money. With the t-shirts gone the zombies grow restless requiring quick action from Gordon and Teddy who manage to fight them off and close the window. In the process teddy has his hat stolen and Colin is bitten by a zombie. The beleagured group notice that there are signs of life from the cottage . Ron and Gwen are still alive but under siege . Unfortunatley they are handcuffed to each other and must make a break for the Driftwood . Despite a valiant effort by Gordon who reveals himself a marshall arts expert Gwen and Ron are unsuccessful in their bid for safety and join the ranks of the undead . Gordon crashes back into the bar just in time to save Jackie from Tom who is now also a zombie . As night falls the RCIP have receive news that no zombies are to be killed but merely detained pending government clearance of their status . Officer Chisolm and Officer Webb (Steve Beatty) are ordered by Superintendant (Craig Muller) to arrest the zombies and free the Driftwood .It is now night and Dan notices some zombies are smoking outside his bar . He decides he cannot risk his licence and attempts to clear the zombies away from the building . He only just escapes and things look desperate when heavy metal music strikes up . Adolf Hitler has returned to host a Zombie talent show .called Z Factor . October file have been turned in to zombies and are playing a last gig at full volume .When the music stops urged on by Hitler the zombies look like they are ready to launch the final overwhelming attack . Jackie decides to offer the zombies the last of the booze and this calms them down . Unfortunately as the last bottle is opened the zombies grow rowdy and it looks like the end for our heroes . They are saved by the intervention of a bag pipe playing Teddy it seems the zombies cannot stand the sound of the pipes and are rendered harmless allowing Dan, Jackie and Gordon to escape to the kitchen .As morning breaks a ferocious pounding on the door suggest the zombies have located the three survivors and are about to break in . It is in fact PC Chisholm who saves the day as he and his squad arrest the remaining zombies .
